Small little airport the facilities are basic, does have a Costa coffee and the globe bar and kitchen however it’s only open during limited hours only. There is a decent sized seating area and there is a taxi rank directly outside. The car park is not too overpriced like other airport parking can be. Overall not bad at all

Very small and very easy to navigate. Friendly helpful staff. We didn't realise we needed an antigen test to fly as well as our vaccines, they had an on site facility and we got it sorted just in time to catch our flight. 👍

A lovely small airport I use on a regular bases to visit my son and his wife who live there. I would like to thank all the staff and the duty manager who were working last night Monday 9th May. My flight back to Newcastle via Loganair was delayed for 2 hours they kept us informed what was happening and managed to get us on the flight just before airport closure. They brought drinks and snacks around for everyone . Great customer service a big thank you to everyone.

Lovely staff at this place. The WH Smith ladies were so helpful to an elderly passenger even though they are not “crew” . My flight was delayed by 2 hours but I can think of worse places to pass the time. Edinburgh hellooo??

Have had a set of brilliant flights to Geneva this week! I have to say I was very impressed with my local airport - it was really clean, had some brill food and was extremely efficient, managing to get my airbus ready for flight again in under 35 minutes! To top it all off, everyone I talked too, including the border control staff, were really friendly and couldn't do enough to help. Also it's small size really does make it perfect for little legs, not much walking to do at all! Overall I loved my journey through Southampton, thanks for making it a really memorable one! Couldn't recommend enough, will definitely be flying from here whenever I can in the future!

Great little airport for short hall flights to Europe and domestic UK. Car Parking and Train Station on mainline to London and Manchester are 30 second walk from terminal, has cafes and restaurant as well as a few shops for last minute pre flight supplies. Can be busy at departure gates as its a tiny place in reality but its clean and tidy and staff are very good.

Southampton Airport is always an easy experience. Not too busy. My only criticism is that the shops and cafés should stay open until all passengers have left. We were in a situation where there was a delayed flight and there are only vending machines after a certain time. We tend to bring our own food as their offering hasn't been great during the pandemic but glad to find out that they're opening Costa again soon. I can't really criticise them too much as the staff are always very friendly and helpful.

Small airport with very little facilities. Advice to myself will be to go there with your sandwich as there is whs with their food and Costa with good service, but limited food availability.

On the other hand, quite a few shops and pre-flight entertainment services are closed for no apparent reason (possibly due to COVID-19?) although I doubt this as every other UK airport I've been to has not bordered down as many shops to the extent that Southampton Airport seems to have done. Such a shame as this was the first airport I ever flew into.

Southampton airport. Nice little place Better than the big airports as there was Almost no wait to get to your gate. The plane was a smaller one but that's because the flights are only about 2 hours long.

A great little airport. I used to work here at the Costa Coffee. There are toilets air and land side. Car rental. Eateries on both the air and land side. The airport has its own train station - Southampton Airport Parkway and good bus connections to Southampton and Eastleigh. Large parking areas.

Fantastic little airport. Made travelling really easy. First thing I noticed on arrival when heading to check-in: no coins needed to use a trolley unlike at Heathrow or Gatwick. Check-in is all handled by Swissport on behalf of the airline we were flying which worked great. We had an outsized piece of baggage that couldn't go on the conveyor belt so we were directed to an unmarked door and told to knock. A chearful baggage handler appeared and the item taken. Security worked well with no queues and then up to the Spitfire Lounge where the staff on duty did a great job in keeping us fed and watered until departure. Upon our return to Southampton it was a short walk from the plane across the tarmac and into the door marked international arrivals where were were processed fairly quickly by 2 UK border agents. No e-gates either which to me is a bonus as the things are a waste of time in my experience. Baggage took about 10 minutes to be delivered and off through customs and on our way home within 30 minutes of landing. Will definitely use this lovely little airport in future if the routes I want to fly are offered and hope BA maintain some sort of presence here post pandemic as they would be my airline of choice.

Arrived at airport for flight at 8.20am. No food or drink available except from the WH Smith shop. All other providers closed. The coffee and tea vending machine also not taking money or cards. I have always loved this airport as it is easy to access, near car park, clean and a coffee always awaiting before you fly. Was shocked to see discarded masks on seats and rubbish still pressed down into the back of them. I appreciate Covid has made things difficult but for people who have driven for a few hours and with children this is just not acceptable. The refreshment providers presumably have made the decision not to open. It should be the airport who controls the times in conjunction with the providers. Even the small kiosk in the main area was closed. This would have provided a drink which would have assisted the situation. Not good enough under any circumstances.

Southampton airport is really special, I have traveled from loads of UK airports and this one is a star, modern, spacious, staff excellent, destinations very good, two areas that could make it better are, more coffee shops and a longer runway to get further destinations, so thankyou Southampton i will be back.

It is a nice little airport, very convenient if your destination is nearby. Also offers free pick-up so you don't pay for taxi parking.Cheaper flights to relatively inexpensive destinations in Europe. Our trip from Dusseldorf was uneventful. You need to be open to the idea of travelling in ATRs and Turbo props though.

It's a very convenient airport, a stone throw away from Southampton. Because it's so small you can arrive an hour before your flight (as long as it's not the summer holidays) and still make it on time to your gate. The only downside is it needs more connections to airports abroad.

Always a pleasure and rarely a chore. Although the flights can be quite pricey you can't beat not having to spend several hours travelling to London and waiting in an Airport. I genuinely think using Southampton Airport over the bigger Airports has reduced about 70% of travel fatigue.

This airport has really changed over the years. Not the world's best but they certainly try their best. Decent number of staff. Good flight locations. Lovely place to fly out and into due to the location. Good restaurant and bar facilities inside. Toilets and decent size and clean. Decent number of seats in waiting areas. Great train connection just outside the airport. Car parking is somewhat pricey.

Very nice small airport. Haven't got very much in it but you don't need to get there as early as other major airports. The ques were not very long but can expect a huge amount with their limited space. Staff were all very friendly too.It has a good range of destinations but has lost alot of business side flybe collapsed. New Airlines have now taken it's place and have started similar routes.

Overpriced food and silly automated check in means that you need to turn up several hours in advance in order to get to your flight safely. Electric vehicle charging in the short stay car park is useful. Some dodgy places such as chairs being placed facing pillars as it's being renovated, but maybe when they're done the airport will be nice enough.

On this week - April 2021 - Eastleigh Borough Council has finally approved the 164m extension of Southampton Airport’s runway (in its north end) which is absolutely vital for the airport’s financial survival as it will allow bigger aircrafts to operate in Southampton. This will bring thousands if not millions of passengers and millions of profit for local economy, especially Eastleigh District and Southampton, as well as thousands of new jobs and businesses positively affected. Southampton Airport has one of the fastest railway connections with city centre in Europe - only 8 minutes by train to Southampton Central station. Before Covid several companies eg Flybe, KLM offered about 35 flights across British Isles and Europe, currently its only Logan Air with its flights to Scotland. If extended, Southampton Airport will finally be very popular and prosperous as it’s the most convenient airport for entire south central region and vital for cities like Winchester, Portsmouth, Bournemouth, Salisbury, Andover, Basingstoke and Isle of Wight.

4 stars seems very fair for this minor airport. Due to family and work commitments I would estimate that I take roughly 50 domestic flights per year. Southampton makes this a very relaxed process. You can turn up literally 20 mins before your boarding time and fly through security. However I would say that the airport is distinctly lacking facilities. Your average motorway service station has many more facilities

I completely understand as to why the bars were closed, but as for Smith's, really can't understand why they had to be closed??? I was also very surprised that the ATM'S, were not available for use, caused me a lot of inconvenience. As for all your staff they were extremely friendly.

Good little airport ! If you've got a bit of time between flights would recommend spending it at the Globe bar and kitchen , they do a cracking all day breakfast , good beer , and the staff are spot on !

Our drivers brings passengers from London to Southampton airport. They can easily access airport car park to drop off passengers. We offer airport meet and greet service when picking up from the arrival hall. This airport is well maintained and passengers are very quick to come out to the arrival hall.

Clean and well presented airport. Just a hop skip and jump from Southampton Airport train station meaning you don't need to arrive hours in advance, it takes minutes to get checked-in and through security. Waiting areas are comfortable, plenty of plug sockets for charging smart devices. Not so many places to eat, but what they have is good enough!

It's a small airport with very little to do in terms of entertainment. When waiting for a flight this can make the process quite long. The airport itself is clean and bright. The staff I spoke and interacted with were disinterested but overall didn't give bad service. Try and arrive close to depart time where possible, and bring something to keep you entertained.

So I booked in for Covid test. I booked online and had an appointment within 4 hours. Drive-through test centre. Am SO impressed at what I encountered. All done whilst : A) remaining in car with no contact with anyone - WINDOWS KEPT CLOSED BAR THE PLACING OF THE TEST KIT ONTO PASSENGER SEAT - by an immensely cheerful smiley lady, who gave me clear instructions once she’d established it was my first visit B) Ample space for multiple cars, where we then drove to a further on location ........ to do the self test. Clear written instructions with the kit - HOWEVER another cheerful fella came to the window, spoke through the closed window to ensure I did it correctly. He wished me a happy new year (although it was 6th January!) with a big smile when I was then instructed to drive off :) C) Finally - the kit handed to another friendly face, who I thanked, enormously for all of their pleasantness. He then waved 👋🏾 as I drove off to go back home. This virus has us all on tenterhooks; so much fear and anxiety around :( Yet these people maintain cheerfulness, helpfulness - they MUST be struggling with the numbers of anxious, unsure people who drive through and yet they made certainly my experience really positive. The pulling-together in crisis spirit was what I witnessed on Wednesday 6th January, as Southampton Airport Covid Testing drive-through. Well done all of you, and thank you. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

My very elderly parents recently flew from Southampton to France. The checking in procedure was conducted very quickly and they were immediately offered extra support to help them through customs and onto the plane. They are both hard of hearing and can get confused so this (free) service was really appreciated. The two staff members who looked after them did a fantastic job, being both friendly and patient and ensured their trip got off to an easy start.

Whats not to like. Close to motorway and main line rail networks. One of the cleanest airports I've been to, and totally stress free. Staff have to deal with situations out of their control and dismayed to see 'travelers' taking out their frustration on them - shame on you. Some flights maybe a little more expensive but well worth it. Pity they can't extend the runway.

Car park prices stop this being a 5 star review. This is a great local airport which really helps me cut down on lots of business commutes in the car. Costa coffee offers a nice refreshment prior to any flights. Staff always seem helpful and happy in what they do.

As small local airports go, Southampton is pretty good. There is plenty of parking available and ample drop-off spaces. The airport itself is really small, but it was really quick to get through security, from arrival to reaching the departure lounge was less than 10 minutes. There is not a lot to occupy your time in the departure lounge (two shops and two eateries). There is not a lot to complain about however, with good transportation to Southampton (20 minutes by car) and the rail network serving the station (good luck with Southern Rail - absolute shambles in my opinion).

An airport where you're actually treated like a human being! The staff are polite and friendly, and they were excellent in assisting with my wheelchair. It's nice and small, so everything is close - no walking miles to get to your gate - but it is still well appointed. You can get through security in about five minutes too....so much nicer than Heathrow!

I travel from Southampton regularly and always go through security quickly and have only had a few delays. I can’t thank them enough for their care and attention when my 25 year old autistic daughter left her bag with phone etc on the Palma flight. We phoned as soon as we got home and they were so kind and understanding. Her bag was found and we collected it from the airport. One delighted daughter!!

Easy to get to using public transport and small enough that it’s hard to get lost. Make sure you check the dimensions of your hand luggage against your airline’s rules before you arrive so you don’t get caught out.

I had to drop off to car hire at Southampton it was so easy straight into the carpark, the hire companies offices were easy to find and we were done and dust in around 20 mins

Great for using for a two way transfer flight.. i.e Southampton > Amsterdam > Canada. Very cheap if you go at the right time. Clean but could do with more eating options if waiting for your flight. Taxi will drop you right outside for just an extra £1. If you are getting a taxi from the airport take the time to go over the train bridge to the taxi rank over the other side.. There are far cheaper

Good airport, but if you spend too long on the long stay bus while it's waiting you could get Hand-arm vibration exposure (HAV), the vibration is crazy! Not fit for purpose.

First time I've flown from Southampton, what a pleasant experience. The staff I encountered, including security staff were pleasant and friendly. A much better experience than I've had flying from other airports. As I will be flying to Southampton more often, I can now do so without dreading the journey that I usually have passing through Gatwick or Heathrow.

Live locally so my airport of preference. Small enough that it is a pleasure to travel with kids. Parking is close to the terminal. Costa Coffee in arrivals and paper shop. Clean toilets. In departures there is a good sized duty free. Place for food upstairs. A little pricey but they have a captive audience. Begging request to the airport. Please do routes to Berlin and Copenhagen.

Everything was clean and well maintained, with flights to most large airports. The food was OK at best, but with it being so local and accessible, I really can't complain. The staff were fast and helpful whenever I had any queries. Overall a very good airport!

Enterprise is very decent car hire company so far. Cars are in good condition like nearly new. Unlimited mileage but pricing is a bit high compared to other vendors but they never say no whenever you are in need of a car. Quick 10 min process, good hospitality. I think If they could compete with other vendors with respect to seasonal pricing rather standard pricing, I think they can top the market. I have tried to book a van but never available at required location. In this aspect I'm not quite happy. Overall I recommend this car hire company for decent experience. Thums up..👍👍

Checked in - no-one else checking in, we booked and checked in together and in plenty of time before flight but the woman checked us in to seats NOT beside each other! Plane was half empty! Cannot figure that one. We sat together regardless! Round to security - had my case shoved back at me and told " put it in a tray", I continued, "That's enough in there, get another tray". Collecting my trays - I had to put 5 trays away before I could reach my belongings whilst members of staff stood about doing nothing. NOT customer service friendly in Southampton Airport!!

Used it last year with my son to go to Ibiza. Typical small airport don't expect Gatwick with almost unlimited abundance of shops. Small WH Smith, Costa, bar "landside" through customs pretty much the same plus duty free. Brilliant if you are on the South Coast. We were only 20 minutes away so it was brilliant for us. Wouldn't want to travel too far to fly from there though as it is invariably more expensive

A rather nice regional airport with convenient access to a major railway line and local bus routes. The main problem is that parking is very expensive. You even have to pay for the 10 mins needed to drop people off. Why...?

This is a nice, small regional airport. Do not expect a large number of options in terms of food or shops. However, all main items are covered: there is a restaurant/pub upstairs and some shops selling typical travel stuff downstairs (e.g. WHSmith). Besides, there are plenty of very comfy seats throughout the terminal. It is possible to get to the city centre by Bus (U1C) or taxi. There is a parking lot nearby as well as the train station in front of the terminal. Watch out because lately they have added a £1 feee for dropping people off. So, you can just park at Southampton Parkway instead and walk for 200 m.

One of the easiest airports to navigate that I have ever been to. The pub has a good selection of food while the WHS should help for magazines etc. Airside your option are limited. There is another pub and a cafe. But space is limited.

Aug 24, 2018... Our luggage did not make it to the airport from the US and we were due to leave the next day on a cruise. We had great customer service from Nick at the lost luggage desk. He tracked down our luggage and kept me updated via email on the progress. He also helped us out on where to go to get replacement items in the interim, including which train to take and a hotel to stay at. I just want to give him a great thank you for making what could have been a disaster, a manageable discomfort. Kudos to you Nick at Southampton airport!!!

My absolute favourite airport. I live close by some am slightly biased but I've literally been home quicker than it would take to collect my bags at Gatwick so well worth paying the extra if your destination is served from here. Main airline is FlyBe (aka Fly MayBe) so can be expensive and temperamental but mostly worth it. Small and compact terminal. No more than 200 yards from front door to gate. Train station is literally 100m from the door with trains every 10 - 15 mins towards London and to Southampton. Can sometimes be a little queue to get to from motorway but never been seriously delayed. Ample drop off space in car park and most hire car companies on site. Catering is reasonable but don't expect any serious shopping.

First time flying out from this airport. The ”greeter” for Flybe airlines was fantastic at 10AM today. Told us everything thing we needed to know. And very friendly!! Thanks for your help.

Lovery small airport. I use it quite often . This time though while in the departure lounge bar I was spoken to like trash by the young blonde haired bar tender. I'll be asking another member of staff for my service next time !! No smile or anything. If she hates her job that much why not get another.

Airport spot on. Clean and efficient. Keep an eye on World Duty Free, as they swap the price tickets round and you could end up being mis-sold something and ripped off. Beware!!!

Good local airport, I went from home (near Portsmouth) by train to sitting down eating lunch at the airport (checked in, bag dropped and through security) in under 90 mins. I can't do that at Gatwick or Heathrow!

I did ask a young attended who tried then said it won't work I can't help you.. Brian checked on me throughout got me water ECT.... took me back outside for fresh air.. helped me from my wheel chair so I was sat on the softer seats.. cheers Brian
