Reviews of Premier Inn Barnsley Central M1 J37
Very handy for the railway station. (ten minutes walk.)
TV didn't work and one of the curtains was torn.
Restaurant was nice, but for some strange reason, no fish based meals shown on the programme were available.
Ideally located for the town centre. Hotel felt a bit tired and in need of a refurbishment. Everything worked ok although there are no usb ports so make sure you take plugs to charge any phones, laptops etc. Convenient car park with reasonable parking rates,I paid £5 for 24hrs.
Great premier Inn ,10 minutes walk into town centre.
The staff are so helpful and friendly.
Rooms were immaculate and the bed was just the comfiest ever!!
Food was delicious and not overpriced although we did opt for the meal deal.
Good stuff but it's just hard to sleep because the heating can only go down to 20° and my room is hot
Great hotel with friendly staff, julie the receptionist what extremely kind and went above and beyond. Thank you. will definitely be returning.
The he hotel above a car park, which is its car park and you have to pay, which I think is an extremely important detail to note. It's not really clear where to park either...access to the hotel then isn't the best, old dirty car park lifts, up to the hotel floor, across the entrance way into the hotel... The staff were great, very helpful and made up for the dated hotel. The rooms were clean and tidy, with everything you'd expect.
Overall not bad, but the parking really let's it down and I know that's not really the hotels responsible, but it does detract from the whole experience.
I stayed at this site for the first time, I had a small issue with my booking payment which the member of staff at reception I believe her name was Jannice was so amazing at dealing with the issue .
It got resolved quickly and Janice could not apologise anymore wven though it wasn't her issue . Great staff
First impressions not good but not premier fault it is next to a unused office complex the area is quiet and a bit tatty. The hotel is nice and staff are friendly and attentive and quick to sort out any problems, the restaurant next door is a nice place one whinge it does unlimited breakfast but it is cooked for you so takes a few minutes so slower than a buffet type one. Room was clean and tidy. To be honest when I arrived I wanted to leave straightaway but after staying for 2 days I am planning to return. Close to town centre nowhere near the motorway.
Stayed here several times. Rooms are looking a bit tired now but are exceptionally clean and comfortable.
The staff are very friendly and can’t do enough for you. Hotel situated very close to town centre so good for a night out
Good price, accessible room was very spacious. Unfortunately no hot water in the bathroom and was woken at 04:30 by other people's alarm clocks.
I paid for the breakfast for us £19.98 but changed our minds a week before so asked to cancel. Was told that it wouldn't be a problem. The day we arrived I explained that I didn't want the breakfast and was told it would be refunded within 5 days.
It's been 14 days today and still nothing.
Service was amazing, we got welcomed in shown where’s the restaurant, where food was amazing both breakfast and dinner. However room was lacking all of the essentials like coffee milk, shampoo or toothpaste which is not really the reason to give it two stars, the reason I give it 2 stars is because of the toilet fan there’s no way off turning it off and the constant noise kept me awake most of the night which is not what you want if you have an important day after the night you spent in a hotel
Last min booking but was blown away by the friendless of the night staff and morning crew . Room was so comfy
First class service was very impressed .
Well done and look forward to staying again
This is a very friendly, clean hotel. This is a place myself and my daughter come to stay on a regular ‘break’ and it never fails to let us down. It is quiet and welcoming. This visit had no receptionist to greet us but the self service check in was very simple and easy to access.
Well situated for everything in town. The staff are extremely helpful and the rooms comfortable. As promised a great night's sleep in comfortable bed. Sadly they are short staffed at moment so restaurant is closed apart from a continental breakfast meaning you have to keep going out for food. Carpet in room would benefit from a good cleaning as quite stained.
The hotel was located at the top of a steep hill. We were annoyed that the restaurant was closed because of the lack of staff. The breakfast was continental only., We were not made aware of this at time of booking. As such we had to go outside of the hotel to get breakfast. The bathroom toilet was dirty , we reported this and a full service was completed the next day. A couple of caterpillars were found in the bedroom which was concerning. We have stayed in Travel Inn hotels on numerous occasions and this was a surprise. We reported our concerns to reception. We booked a disabled room as in a wheelchair, the room had plenty of space. The bathroom was spacious but the shower had a very strange mechanism and a very small seat attached to the wall. Not easy to use or safely move. A proper shower seat would be better suited and easier to use. Though Travel Inn is a big company they still seem to get things wrong for disabled travellers. Doors are wheelchair users nightmare but placing disabled rooms where you have to go through 3 sets of heavy standard sized doors is not really "accessible". Aware the balance of fire regulations and ease of use is a compromise. All that said, the staff were helpful and friendly, shame the restaurant was closed due to lack of staff.
Decent Premier Inn, if a little tired around the edges.
Parking is over the road in an open, council car park.
Restaurant is integral to the building, itself part of a small town centre ‘business complex’.
Staff are great, really friendly and flexible.
Been staying at this premier inn for the last 8 years. Never had a complaint. Staff go above and beyond. And my kids always comment on how kind and friendly everyone is.
We just got back from a 3 night stay. And 'James' on reception was fabulous!
Absolute Sxxt hole of a place. ||||Dirty room ||Dirty dinning area ||Rude staff||||What else do you want in Barnsley, real let down…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..
Great hotel nice staff and clean rooms👍
2 night stay here and I had booked wrong way and JAmes came to rescue and fixed for me. His customer service is excellent and he is an asset to the company. Thankyou James for the amazing service
The receptionist absolutely made this trip for us. Im unsure of his name but he lives across the square. We travelled from Kent with my parents to visit family. He was the loviest guy and engaged with us every time we saw him. An absolute credit to Premier Inn. Get that boy a glass of vino! We also met a few of the housekeeping team who were all very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble so thank you! Rooms 209 and 214 20th to 23rd Oct. We were facing the square and the room was so quiet until work started on the opposite building at 9ish, but did not affect our stay at all. Breakfast wasn't great so we ate at a cafe round the corner after the first day. Overall a great experience and will return.
I enjoyed it here even though the underground council car park next to it had a broken Lift . Apparently after 2 wks it now fixed. The hotel doesn’t have enuff staff to provide evening meal which is crazy . They could offer to allow us to microwave our food stuff in that case. Nice cafe next door though called pavilion which I’d recommend. Nice rooms, chilling though, bed limón isn r always cleaned even though I did Sdl them to change bedding. Wax there for 6 days and they said they don’t do it due to covid policy it’s a load of rubbish. For what u pay I’d expect bed linen changed after 3 days use.. nice reception service if u can find them. There is a white button near the desk u can press to get someone to attend. Bar drinks happy hour 5 pm nightly which is good. I’d stay again but their prices vary daily!
Rooms were comfortable and it was right next door to where my daughter and grandson live. I made use of the extra pillows as I had broken my shoulder the day before we arrived.
In fairness the room was a bit tired and it was a journey using the lifts from the car park to my room. However, the staff earn my five stars. I had the best pint of Doom Bar in 15 years in the bar - I travel from Cornwall to Edinburgh. And when I order a rum and iet coke the right answer is "Which rum?" and the staff hold the door open for you when you are laden with bags. Brilliant caring service. It's the simple things that matter and the staff service nudges this hotel across the 5 point line for me....
Was a bit worried about check in time as they emailed the day before arrival changing it to 3 o'clock instead of 1 o'clock as we requested and was granted 4 month earlier when we booked it for a 3 pm wedding...but we arrived at our requested time and the room was ready...everything was very clean. The only thing that let it down was biscuit wrappers you could see quite clearly under the bed..the breakfast was fresh steaming hot and tasty cooked to order..with fruit yogurts cereal pancakes toast crumpets ect to help yourself to along with unlimited drinks..tge staff in the hotel and restaurant was lovely...would definitely stay again ...
Very clean hotel. Beds comphy , parking under the hotel £5 for 24hours so very cheap. Hotel ideal for a night out. Would have been 5 stars but our visit in december had no heating on & the lift from the car park wasnt working so it was hard work the climb with cases. This wont put us off returning though.
Always good food n drink here
Check in friendly staff & easy. Multi Storey car park adjacent. Good selection for breakfast, cereals, cooked brekkie, toast tea & coffee.
It's just a typical Premier Inn with all the usual comforts,. Marked it down for a couple of reasons. Firstly it's not very well sign posted from the car park, secondly after having two separate visits here on both occasions the bathrooms smelt foisty. And thirdly the door from reception was very detrimental sometimes requiring assistance from the staff to open it. Apart from this the rooms very clean and tidy, staff were helpful and friendly and the food was nice.
Warm, comfortable and clean room. Very friendly, helpful staff. During these difficult times, it is important to be able to trust the cleanliness and diligence of a Premier Inn. Thank you for helping your guests to feel safe.
All the staff were very friendly and the room was immaculate, Really enjoyed my 2 day stay😃
Good quality: as always with premier inn you know what you're going to get. It is really well situated on the edge of the town centre and is easy to get to by car with good parking beneath the hotel. Great views too.
Rooms are spotless, good size with a fantastic bed - very comfortable and always have a great nice sleep. Great on site facilities, great breakfast and a very conventient location for Barnsley town centre. Would recommend
A typical Premier Inn; clean, totally quiet, great beds and fantastic staff. Nadia on reception was so welcoming, friendly and helpful. The full breakfast was also good.
Great location, staff are really friendly and rooms were clean and beds comfortable
The lady on reception Julie is absolutely fantastic, there was a slight mix up with the rooms and she sorted it quickly and with a smile on her face, what a lovely lady and a credit to the company.
Very friendly, helpful staff. Room a really good size with a very comfy bed. Good bar and breakfast area. Great price.
It's a great place to relax and have a good night sleep. However car park should be part of the hotel or the hotel should find a parking space for visitors staying overnight.
Very nice place only thing for me was windows couldn't open as am going through the change and got very warm could of done with a bit off air. But overall was a nice place breakfast was amazing
Absolutely the money friendliest staff… but Lucy is the best and so out going, easy to talk to helps with whatever she can! Top staff member
Very clean and tidy room. Staff were very helpful and courteous. Facilities excellent. Superb value.
This is the best prem I have stayed at, it's the only one I get a full nights sleep, don't know why but it's true. Every thing else is spot on, food, drink also very clean.
Brilliant location, friendly reception & bar staff. Breakfast continental buffet or cook to order. Towels and bedding clean
Clean comfortable and quite, parking for vans directly opposite in a car park, in House restaurant wasn't great but there's a good restaurant opposite in the courtyard
Okay hotel. Limited free wi-fi and automated sign in not great. Had to assign People to rooms on sign in, why? Took money on booking, not sign in without letting us know.
Reception excellent and room very clean and well kept
Only let down was breakfast very slow survice no cups for drinks had to ask a number of times and took nearly an hour to get breakfast which was very oily .
The staff were very welcoming and helpful. It was in a very convenient location for us. The rooms were comfortable and clean
Standard Premier Inn offer. Nicely appointed and smart pub/restaurant. Car park not easy to find. Courteous staff.
Absolutely Loved our stay here will definitely be going back to stay staff were very pleasant and helpful 100% couldn't ask for a better stay
Fantastic, modern, clean and friendly helpful staff. Only downside for us was being next to the entrance that was repeatedly left to slam closed by other guests all night
Clean friendly team, easy parking good location to town and motorway. Bar is good for a drink, pleasant atmosphere
Booked for 2 only one towel in room other than that good hot water clean enough and comfortable bed
Good premier inn, rooms lovely and clean. Good service
Very clean, modern hotel. Excellent value for money. Would recommend.
Standard Premier Inn. Clean. Good beds. Good rooms. Not too noisy. Very welcoming staff.
Very new hotel - nice rooms, great water pressure in the shower, and s good quality restaurant
Good clean room. Decent location. Staff were lovely.
The location is handy to everything without being in the middle of it all, the staff are very friendly and the rooms are spotless. What more could you want?
I was in the Glasshouse restraint attached to this hotel where the food and atmosphere are very good would recommend for anyone wanting a great night out
Recent refurbishment has helped maintain this hotel as one of the best in the area with really helpful professional staff
Very big rooms, friendly service and great location for the motorway.
Really friendly staff, nice pub attached only downside is the cost of parking
Well situated for town centre. Clean and in pretty good shape. Good staff

Boss stay
We have just returned from a short stay in Barnsley, a town in South Yorkshire. Convinced by the positive reviews, the obvious good location and the competitive prices, we chose this hotel. Modern, well-kept and welcoming, the Premier Inn turned out to be everything we expected. The room was large, as was the bathroom, equipped with a beautiful bathtub. The mattress was fantastic, with soft pillows (two for each guest). The room also seemed almost soundproof and we slept very well. There is a restaurant on the ground floor, which we have not had the opportunity to try, but which was recommended by many locals. A five-minute walk away is the center of Barnsley, and a ten-minute walk away is the train and bus station, including those to London. I would definitely recommend it, so much so that for our next stay in South Yorkshire we will go there again.
It's worth eating ribs
Na
Good hotel
...
During my recent stay at the Barnsley Central Premier Inn, I once again checked in on a Friday evening, and I was delighted to see Julie behind the front desk. Her welcoming demeanor and professionalism made the check-in process incredibly smooth and efficient.
Julie goes above and beyond to ensure that guests feel comfortable and valued. She greeted me with a warm smile and took the time to remember my preferences from my previous visits, which made me feel like a returning friend rather than just another customer. Her attention to detail was exceptional; she provided helpful information about the hotel amenities and local attractions, ensuring I had everything I needed for a pleasant stay.
In addition, Julie was quick to address any questions I had and offered assistance with my luggage, showcasing her dedication to customer service. It's clear that she genuinely enjoys her role and takes pride in providing an outstanding experience for guests.
Overall, Julie is a true asset to the Barnsley Central Premier Inn, and her commitment to excellence significantly enhances the overall atmosphere of
Stayed for the first time last Friday 25th April, as going to Eban Brown concert at lamproom, which was so close and handy! Lovely clean rooms, great food in little alcoves, staff were so friendly and helpful, especially guy on reception, comfy bed, and to say so near centre, lovely and quiet! Thank you for an enjoyable stay and reasonable prices!
A great place to stay, staff were very friendly and helpful and we will be back
Rooms are hot and windows don't open. Arrived to our room thermostat set at 24. Apparently can't turn it down beneath 20. Can't open the window either. I've actually roasted to death slowly all night long. I struggle to sleep when it's too warm and this is definitely too warm.
The location is ideal for going into the centre of town. Main reception and bar area was nice and clean as was outside. The room was ideal for getting your head down big let down was hair around the bath area which was disgusting.
Generally good premier Inn. Front staff are always very helpful and accomodating. Rooms are comfortable, clean and have everything you need . And as per Lenny's comment I always get a good night's sleep which to me is the most important thing.
Nice clean room with good shower. Slept well with choice of soft or firm pillows. Very dirty outside window spoils view though!
Great location. The staff are excellent, particularly James on Reception.
Very short staffed and stock low due to late deliveries
Yes not the best premier I have stayed in but it clean and friendly only downside you have to pay for your parking. Good points there is a shop out side which sales food and drink
When you book a room at the Premier Inn you know what your getting comfy beds Good Food friendly staff clean room it's become a standard I've got used to and wouldn't go anywhere else
The consistency of quality is reassuring. I appreciate not being charged for services I don't need but they are usually available for additional charge.... always use the Premier In when in the UK.
Stay here regularly with work, reception staff are very friendly and kind. Thanks very much.
Very nice rooms and staff only down side was the rooms heater/ air conditioning that doesn't keep the rooms warm very well.
Perfect hosts for a 28-person cycle trip. Couldn't have been more helpful. Great views over Barnsley too.
Very friendly staff, comfy beds. I've stayed in a few Premier Inns but this one takes first prize.
Great spot 5 mins from town, bedroom very clean bed was comfy would definitely recommend.
Great friendly hotel comfortable room and bed. Good location for city centre and bars.
Great location, easy access to motorway to meadowhall. Rooms as standard for premier Inn's, pub nextdoor did great food
Friendly staff, clean rooms, a very nice stay all round.
Another hotel, it was sad to see asylum seekers running around and eating free whilst outside our window was 2 homeless people sleeping in the rain
Lovely staff and a nice comfortable room. Would stay again.
