Reviews of Absolute Escapes

The St. Cuthbert Way with Absolute Escapes was among out most amazing long distance treks. In spite of a couple storms coming through during our late September/Oct departure, out group of determined mid-70"s hikers were able to complete most of each day without panchos.

Absolute Escapes organised our recent 7 day walking holiday on the Dales Way. Whilst the route was reasonably signposted the map and guide they provided was excellent and a big help. All the overnight stops and luggage transfer happened smoothly and everywhere we stayed was friendly with a good room and food. We particularly enjoyed the B&B's that were in pubs but that's just personal taste! Our contact with the company and the details they sent out in advance were first rate. We appreciated the recommendations for where to eat in the evening and whether we needed to book a table in advance. We would definitely use them again. In fact we're already thinking about where to walk next year.

We have had one of the best driving holidays in Scotland. The whole itinerary was well presented and easy to follow. Apart from one B&B, which I am sure you guys are aware of, the rest of the stay in each place was excellent. The hosts were very welcoming and friendly. Our best stay was at Ullapool where the whole experience was wonderful. We all wished we had stayed there slightly longer. If I had to change the itinerary, it would have been couple of extra days in the Cairngorms. Our stay in Ballater was very memorable. All in all a wonderful Scottish experience made extra special due to the itinerary prepared by Absolute Escapes. We will definitely come back to Absolute Escapes for future driving holidays. From the four of us a very heartiest thank you.

We used absolute escapes for our latest 5 day adventure on the west highland way. Fantastic organisation and great communication , even when we were there. All of our accommodation stops were first class and we were given great recommendations for eating out . Brilliant service from Caitlin and all the team . Would highly recommend this company

Absolute escapes organised my walking holiday along the Pembrokeshire Coastline. I cannot recommend enough. From the beginning, Katia was super helpful in talking me through all the options for hikes. Additionally, they were happy to amend routes to make it the easiest for me. I could travel there without need of a car, had lots of different recommendations for meals, and was hosted in B&Bs by incredibly friendly people. The holiday was stress free because I knew I had the support if I encountered anything along the way.

Excellent service from Absolute Escapes for my West Highland Way holiday. Accommodation at each stop was excellent, the baggage service was seamless. Even where I needed to stay 'off trail' at Kingshouse, a transfer was arranged to take me to a B&B in Glencoe - which was much more personal and comfortable than the accommodation in Kingshouse. The drive to Glencoe was amazing as well - that landscape is just stunning and it was a great to get a proper chance to view it as I'm usually driving so can't be too distracted. Will certainly use again and would highly recommend.

We had a wonderful time on our ‘Highland Honeymoon’ organised through Absolute Escapes. All the materials sent to us in advance and the information we received were very helpful. Also the professionalism of the interactions we had with the booking staff was great as well as feeling like there was a personal touch.
All the accommodation arranged and booked for us was lovely but we were particularly taken with the Avalon Guest House in Inverness which was particularly plush and much more than we expected for a guest house. We also had a lovely day at Dunrobin Castle near Inverness which was recommended.
Skye was very beautiful but this was on the back of travelling through some of the most dramatic scenery we had ever seen in the Cairngorms and Trossachs so we were very spoilt!
We would certainly recommend Absolute Escapes and will be thinking about a return to Scotland again when we can!

From my first enquiry to the last moment I really appreciated the level of service Absolute Escapes offers and it is so nice to interact with real human beings when booking a holiday. They have great information about the walking tour we did and were extremely prompt in getting back to our enquiries etc. Highly recommend!

Absolute Escapes organized 2 walking tours for my husband and me, the Coltswold Way and the Fife Coastal Path, and both were fabulous! From start to finish, we were very, very happy with all aspects of the both walking tours. We can't recommend Absolute Escapes highly enough. Here is why:
Pre-trip
-Communication with Absolute Escapes was timely, clear, professional and friendly.
-Materials (guidebooks, packing list, maps, etc) were very good and arrived on time.
-Cost was reasonable
Walks
-the instructions for getting to the starting point of each walk and departing from the end of a walk were great!
-scenery and routes are spectacular and unique!
-our luggage always waiting for us at the end of the day, in perfect condition and usually in our room
-ending the Fife coastal tour in a beautiful hotel with a renowned restaurant was brilliant! A wonderful reward for completing the walk. The food was delicious, beautifully presented and graciously served. The Apple Tree in Bath was also a great place to end the Cotswold Way.
Accommodations
-all were great! We loved that they were independent, family-run and small-scale operations and that they focused on local, often organic/homemade products. We loved the variety of types of accommodation (because they were all independent) We very much enjoyed meeting and talking to the proprietors. They were friendly, professional, helpful and accommodating. We enjoyed the balance of cozy B&Bs and multi-room hotels.
- accommodations were all warm, clean and beautiful, and often filled with beautiful art and antiques, the food was always delicious, graciously served and more than adequate, the beds were comfortable.

Absolute Escapes organised our accommodation, bag transfers and taxi pick ups when appropriate to enable us to walk the Coast to Coast path at a pace that suited us knowing at the end of each day our bags would be waiting for us, our accommodation would be of a high standard and we would be able to obtain an evening meal. This is the second time we have used Absolute Escapes and will definitely use them again.

NC500 10 day trip. Fern made organising the holiday seemless with minimal effort - altering parts at our request with no complaint until it was perfect. We can no understand how incredible the NC500 is - natural beauty that rivals anywhere else in the world. Can not believe this is hidden within the UK - can not recommend more.

Our self drive tour with Absolute Escapes was perfect. It was great to travel at our leisure stopping for what we really wanted to see along the way. Our time in Scotland was planned out very well as just about the time we were ready to move onto the next area it was our last night. All of the accommodations were clean, comfortable and exceeded our expectations. We had an unfortunate fender bender with the rental car and James at Absolute Escapes worked with us and the rental car agency to cover the expense and details of the repair. His expertise was appreciated. I would highly recommend Absolute Escapes . My husband and I are looking forward to the next opportunity to use their services.

My wife and I recently returned from a really well organised ten day Island Odyssey Holiday to Scotland. Absolute Escape staff were invariably friendly, helpful and professional: they provided us with a thick folder of information, advice, maps, routes and details of accommodation and ferries en route.
Fern Urquart was our mainstay and she tailor-made our holiday to ensure we visited the islands we wanted (Arran, Islay, Mull and Skye) at a pace that suited us, and with all our accommodation and ferries booked & paid for in advance as part of the £760 pp deal.
The comprehensive itinerary notes & suggestions allowed us to deviate & stop along the way as we wanted - always travelling towards either one of the seven booked ferries or B&Bs along our way. This independence allowed us to cover 1800 miles, meet lovely B&B owners, eat in a variety of restaurants, photograph some incredible places & things and also enjoy three days at the Edinburg Fringe to end a memorable and midge-free holiday.
Money well spent with a caring firm that I have no hesitation in recommending to others.

AE organised a 4 day walking holiday in Northumberland for myself and 3 friends (all mid 60's). The organisation was exemplary and the itinerary perfect. AE even organised excellent weather! We would not hesitate to use AE again.

(Translated) A few years ago I booked the WHW for a group of 13 and it worked out fine.
