Our bike tour was one of the best things we did in London. A perfect Day 1 activity for any trip. We saw SO many sites, and our tour guide, Paul, was fantastic!! We had 2 kids riding, and one in a child’s seat, as well as 2 grandparents all in our group, and we were able to do the tour easily! A couple moments of cringe riding next to traffic, but mostly it’s off busy roads down secret alleys and bike paths. Just book it!! You’ll be so glad you did.

Highlight of our trip This bike tour is an absolutely brilliant way to see some of the well known, and lesser known parts of London. Paul our guide was passionate about telling us all sorts of fascinating details, including some old sayings we have in English and their origins. He even gave us a sample of his Opera singing in a back street near Covent garden! I think bystanders were jealous! The bikes were very comfy, the route was in no way strenuous, but always interesting, safe and enjoyable. It was an excellent, and relaxing way to see so much in around 2-3 hours. Many thanks to Chris & Paul for a superb experience - not to be missed.

My daughter and I came from N. Ireland and it was her first experience in London. We did the tour on our first day and it was a great way to see the city and help us get an idea of the location of all the sights. Great great experience! From the beginning I had great communication with Chris to set everything up! He was very patient with me and we scheduled the perfect tour, meeting location and directions were super clear. The tour was amazing!!! In London for a weekend from Ireland in Oct 21 decided to do a bike tour just contacted Brakeaway bike tours randomly the eve before and they were able to accommodate 4 of us for the next morning on the London history tour. Chris who arranged the tour was extremly responsive and professional with emails , directions etc. Paul our guide was outstanding with his history of London which was both informative and entertaining. He would occasionally burst into song , which related to the history of the area, to give us a clue. His history lessons were very interactive. We were on the tour for 3.5 hrs with a break for 20 mins in Covent garden for lunch. The cycling was on quiet back streets and cycle lanes, it was amazing how quiet some areas were but just off the main tourist trail. We took in most of the main tourist areas Westminster, Buckingham palace, St Paul's, Trafalgar Sq, The City of London plus many intersting areas as a tourist I would never find only for this tour. Ie The Bansky tunnel. Where art is created anew each day..This tour was the highlight of our Weekend along with the Lion King and next time I will definitely be doing the secret London cycle tour with Brakeaway Bike tours. It was excellent value for money and a great and different way to see London. I don't normally review but I enjoyed this so tour so much I felt I needed too. !!

I had an amazing experience with BrakeAway tours! I was visiting from Los Angeles and wanted a tour where I could see as much as I could in a short amount of time (since London is so big). The bike tour was the perfect way to see a ton of stuff and enjoy the city. I researched a ton and this was the best deal I found, so I know you won't find a better deal than here! Pat was our tour guide and he was very knowledgeable, funny, and always made sure we were all safe! Just book it!!!

Such a fun afternoon cycling to all the known sites in town via back streets only a good tour guide knows the existence of. Kids (9,12) thought it was cool too which was an added bonus. We all brushed up on our London historical knowledge with the fun and detailed anecdotes from Patrick, our very knowledgeable guide. Most enjoyable part of our visit to London with my wife and two teenage kids. Our guide Paul gave us a great tour through the history and streets of Westminster and London City. The meeting point was very convenient and the bikes were easy for cruising around the streets. Even though we got some February rain we were kept entertained and informed with stories from London past and present (and some fine singing, be sure to ask Paul to give a verse of a song or two and join in if you can). We took a nice break in Convent Garden and walked the markets. I'd highly recommend it as part of any visit to London.

I loved this tour so much that I’ve actually taken it on two separate trips to London! The first time with my buddy and a few years later with my girlfriend. None of us are particularly bike people back home, but we all enjoyed ourselves and have since recommended it to friends visiting the city. I was really impressed with how many awesome sites you can cover in the one tour. The bikes are easy to ride, the pace is perfect, and the guides are one of a kind - if you get Giles, you’re in luck.. he’s a legend! A good mix of history, local knowledge, and helpful advice for first time Londoners. The Secret Tour we took was phenomenal. The guide was extremely enthusiastic and engaging. Learning about all of the architecture and history of London really enhanced the rest of our trip. I took their 2.5 hr bike tour (led by Chris) on a balmy Saturday morning in May. It was a wonderful experience - Chris was articulate, witty, and knowledgeable. The route itself was well thought-out/designed - easy, safe ride but covered all important highlights. This is just an appetizer - I plan to be back next Spring with family to enjoy another bike tour from Chris/Patrick. And, the highlight of the tour was the impromptu *opera* by Chris at the ROH entrance.. Chris, you do have an alternate career! I seriously recommend BrakeAway tours to anyone that's looking for a quick tour of London's highlights in an interesting way. P.S: I had doubts to their claim that their bikes/seats were the most comfortable in all of London - I (actually, my bum!) can vouch now that it is really comfortable. The bike tour was a great way to start our visit to London. Meet-up point at Waterloo Station was simple. Bikes were comfortable and in good condition. Got an excellent overview of the history of the city from our guide, Paul, who was quite knowledgeable and witty. Especially enjoyed riding through the narrow back streets and seeing the historical row houses, as well as visiting the Banksy Tunnel. Very good value for the money. We try and visit London as often as we can and each time do something different. This time we did the bike tour with Paul on the Breakaway Bike Tours and can honestly say it was one of the best things we have ever done in London. We did it with friends and they loved it as much as we did. Paul the guide was very knowledgeable as well as interesting and entertaining. Recommended! Avoiding big crowds of people due to Covid, we decided to go for a BrakeAway Bike Tours when exploring London. We had a lovely time on our Grand London bike tour with Chris. We took this tour on our second day in London and it helped us get our bearings of the city while seeing some of the big sights. Great trip with Chris. We have two young daughters and the bikes were perfect for them with helmets available. We got to see the areas of London you wouldn't if you were on a bus or walking tour including the major landmarks plus a few 'hidden' gems. A caffiene stop was also included in Covent Garden. My husband and I have walked London, and seen the sights, on many occasions and we were recommended to do a bike tour with this company by a family member and we were so glad we did! Our tour guide, Paul, was excellent. We were even entertained at one point by him giving us a burst of his best opera singing. We took the Grand London Bike Tour back in August and I couldn't recommend it enough. We were 2 adults and 5 kids at various ages and they all loved it. We had family from overseas staying and it is such a great way to see all the London Landmarks. Our tour guide Mike was fabulous, good fun, very knowledgeable (we learnt a lot) and had patience of a saint when it came to our unruly bunch. The bikes are really comfortable and it is great value for money. I've already done the Secret London Bike Tour, and will definitively take the family back on that one when they return. My adorable 10 year old nephew said and I quote "I never knew London was so amazing" - thank you Mike and the team for a great day out!

Absolutely loved our tour this morning! The intermittent downpours were no match for our engaging and highly entertaining (and informative!) guide, Paul. Actor, singer, and historian rolled into one, he showed us all the major tourist attractions and kept a good brisk pace through easy (mostly flat and quiet) routes. Booking was very easy and straightforward. The tour is exactly as advertised. The operator is very friendly and helpful and the bikes are comfortable and well equipped. This is one of the best tours I've ever taken. It was loads of fun :)

I couldn't rate this tour more highly! We took our kids (age 10 and 11) to London for a long weekend and this was amongst many of the "touristy" things we did including visiting Hamley's, Lego Store, M&M World, The London Eye, The Natural History Museum, ice skating, Tower Bridge, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory afternoon tea, the list goes on... yet this bike tour is the thing that all of us enjoyed more than anything else. The group size is great as you can fully interact as you go round and can easily stay together in traffic. Patrick our guide was brilliant - he gave us such an insight into London history but delivered it in a really interesting way, that kept everyone engaged. We've definitely come back with several pub quiz facts up our sleeve! This is a really brilliant way for kids and adults to explore and learn about a city in an active way, we thoroughly recommend it.

Had a great tour with Mike on a recent visit to London. The pace was great for our mixed family group as was the level of information provided by Mike as we visited many of the London landmarks. It was my teenage sons first proper visit to London and whilst we were keen for him to see all the sights we knew that he wouldn’t have the patience to trawl round on foot. An excellent way to see London - not only do you get to see the big landmarks; you also get to see the lesser known more interesting spots - And lots of history too. I was worried about safety of cycling in London but this was very safe for me and my 14yo. Going by bike you see so much more than walking, and don’t feel anywhere near as tire (no hills) Fantastic.

Perfect way to see London! We've done bike tours in other cities, and while none have disappointed, this one seemed very well organized. Bike lanes everywhere, and where they weren't we were navigating through lower traveled streets. Almost no concern about automobile traffic. The weather was great! It was so refreshing, and you can cover a lot of territory quickly and easily on a bike. Our guide was Mike, and he was a wealth of information and history. Couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. Ask for him, if he's available! If you're in London, and have the time, you shouldn't miss this opportunity!

This was an amazing experience for our family of 2 adults and 2 children (age 14 & 9). It was fantastic to see so much of London with our guide Pat who was very welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable from the second we met. I would begin by saying; from the beginning of contacting BrakeAway Bike Tours till the end of the tour could not have been a better experience. Chris was very helpful with arrangement's. They are very professional at what they do the communication with them to us was good; they just wanted to make sure we had everything that we needed and the bike sizes were right for us. The bikes they have are tremendous for the tour they posture you have is sitting up; so you can see all the views; and because you are on cycle lanes for 70% of the tour you do not have to worry about traffic. Enough said. We had a fantastic time, the places we went to were amazing; the Banksy tunnel was amazing; there was even people painting while we were there. Our tour guide Giles was so knowledgeable about all the areas we visited, and told with humour. We visited so many places of interest; places you would never find on your own; but also Giles would stop and explain the history. I cannot recommend this company and the tours enough; we will certainly be back.

We went by all the typical places, but also some interesting places with even more stories associated with them. If you are thinking about a bike tour of London, this is a great one! Well what can I say! The best £24 spent on a 4 hour adventure of the Secret London bike tour with our guide Paul.. I was recommended this trip by a client of mine and I'm so glad she did as we had the best time. This was our first and definitely won't be the last, my friend and I are 50+ and haven't ridden a bike for over 25/30years and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The tour took place on a lovely day, the bike seat was extremely well padded and comfy and the bike itself was very easy too ride. We did just short of 10 miles but it didn't seem that at all as it was such a flat ride and the cycle paths around London were very easy to navigate. We stopped at numerous interesting sights listening to the fab knowledge of Paul our guide. He took us to different places that we had never been too in London. We visit London a few times a year but never been to most of the sights that we stopped at so it was great and yes very secret.. Markets, Theatres, Large iconic buildings new and old, history (Pudding Lane, Jack the Ripper), East End Pub, Curry Mile, Kray Twins, the birth place of Big Ben (the actual bell), Finance, Underground graffiti tunnels, Docklands the list goes on.. Paul was brilliant, very knowledgeable, patient, funny and energetic (not sure about his acting/singing skills though) haha! Can't wait to go back with the family and enjoy this trip again. 5 Stars for a great tour today. Good quality bikes (brakes, gears and saddle). Nice distance, all the highlights and a Dutch speaking guide (as per plan). Groups were split to make sizeable groups, with an extra (English speaking) guide to keep the rear. Again I felt very safe. Biggest compliment from my 9 year old: best tour guide ever. ... (we did several bike rides before so she could compare).

A fantastic way to see London accompanied by a guide who knows their stuff! I recently spent an extended weekend in London with my wife and on our last day we decided to book a bike tour around London with BrakeAway bike tours. Booking the tour was a simple process and the day before the company got in touch to ensure we knew where to go and what to expect. On the day we had a fantastic guide who was knowledgeable, courteous, really safety conscious and overall just a great guy. He really made the tour for us, and we felt at ease the whole time. He watched over our bikes whilst we went for lunch and the tour lasted from about 10:30 to after 14:00 - we thought this was fantastic value for money. We saw parts of London we would never have found by ourselves and were taught about places we’ve walked past countless times and not noticed. Cycling around the city felt safe and even good fun - even for a couple of country bumpkins like us. So don’t let fear of cycling in the capital put you off. We would highly recommend this tour company and furthermore we’ll be booking one of their alternative tours in the future!

We had four teens of varying bicycle ability as well as adults on tour. All had the best time. Highlight of visit to London said our cousin from overseas, and just as much fun for the locals on tour. We had to reschedule at one point; Chris and team were accommodating and couldn’t have been more helpful in answering questions prior to the tour. I organised the tour as a corporate event and it went down really well with my clients. Our guide Paul, was excellent and certainly knew his stuff - he even gave us a rendition from an Opera (no idea what one though!). The bikes were surprisingly comfortable and whilst there was a small element of cycling on main roads, at no point did we feel unsafe. Absolutely Fantastic!!! We booked this tour as I thought it would be more fun for the kids seeing the attractions going round on a bike and it definately was! Chris our tour guide was great, gave us interesting facts about the places we visited but also made us laugh and the kids (aged 11 and 9) he made sure all adults and kids were entertained and included. Visited London earlier in July with my daughter and contacted several bike tour operators for availability and prices. BrakeAway got back to us very quickly and were by far the cheapest option. This did worry me a bit as I thought perhaps it would not be as good - in contrast, it far exceeded our expectations. Mike was our guide and he was amazing. Very nice, personable guy, he showed us all the tourist sights and had lots of anecdotes to keep us amused. Very knowledgable. We saw things we would never have known existed had we not taken the tour. It lasted 3 and a half hours which seems a lot however the pace is lazy with frequent stops and the time just flew in! There was time to stop for loo break and ice cream in Covent Garden. We really enjoyed the tour and wouldnt hesitate to recommend it to anyone, even if you dont think youre fit, youll be able to do it as most of its on the flat. Probably one of the highlights of our break!! Thank you Mike - you were fab! Give these guys a try , you wont be disappointed.

A great way to see London from a different perspective. We had a great tour with Mike around London last week. He was very knowledgeable and made the tour fun and interesting for our whole party (our ages ranged from 74 to 10 years old). The sights we visited were slightly off the beaten track and although we already know London well, we were taken to a range of places that we had never seen before. We had a fantastic time on the Grand London tour in June. My parents were visiting me in London and this was a great way to show them the best of London in a relatively short space of time. The stories at each stop had a great mix of factual information and humour, which appealed to all of us. This was an excellent bike tour of London, especially considering the difficult circumstances. Coming from the U.S., our tour was on Sunday, March 15th, one day before Boris Johnson officially shut down London due to Covid. Obviously, things were being canceled well before this announcement. Luckily, Chris and Patrick arrived in good spirits, despite the fact that they had an approximately 90 percent cancellation for the day. Patrick took our group (of 4) and another group of 2 out as the only group of the day. Instead of letting the weight of negativity affect our tour, we had a wonderful, exciting and informative tour. At no point did the reality (that tourism was soon to be decimated) affect the tour we were given. If we experienced a 5 star tour under those circumstances, I can confidently say EVERYONE will feel the same. I sincerely hope BrakeAway Tours gets their business back once everything opens, and please know they will help make the most out of your holiday/vacation. We were a half hour late for the tour and although it had long gone, the owner Chris rode us out for twenty minutes to catch the group so we could be included. My husband and I recently enjoyed a bike tour of London while visiting my daughter and son-in law. My daughter made the connections for our visit based on her research of bike tours. The tour, headed by CHris, met at Waterloo train station and we were escorted to the bikes in a tunnel area that had attractive "legal" graffiti. The bikes provided had wide handle bars with famous names on them so they could not be mixed up with others.The wide handled bikes fall into a personal preference for easy or not easy handling. There were about 10 of us on the tour which lasted about 3.5 hours and included many informed stops and a 30 minute refresh stop. Chris was well informed about the various interest stops and took his time to give us history and info. We actually saw a changing of the guard. In addition, he was attentive about watching for the slow part of the group (me) and patiently advising on changing of gears for uphill jaunts. Also, he came back to find us and repair the bike that my husband operated. London was very busy on the Sunday that we did this tour, and it required some focus to avoid crowds and cars. We were definitely tired at the end of the tour but felt it was an excellent way to see so much of this beautiful city.

Classic London 3-hour tour - We really enjoyed the bike tour. There were 7 in our group. Our tour guide, Mike, was great and made sure that everyone was able to keep up. We stopped at several places and the pace was leisurely. Mike is a wealth of information and gave us interesting details during each of our stops. We even were able to see the guards at Buckingham Palace going to the barracks from St James’ Park! Mike seemed to know where to stop so that we got a great view. A short stop at Covent Garden allowed us to grab a snack. At the end, we felt like we got a good feel for London that allowed us to decide what we wanted to go back and see in more detail. It was definitely worthwhile!

Vor allem die Gesangskünste von Paul werden uns in Erinnerung bleiben, aber darüber soll an dieser Stelle nicht zu viel verraten werden... ;-) Insgesamt war es ein unvergessliches Erlebnis für uns, mit vielen verschiedenen Eindrücken - Zeit für Fotos bleibt natürlich zwischendurch auch immer.
