Rather than queue for hours and still not see anything, we chose this tour to see the different stages of the Changing of the Guard. We were close enough at all locations to get great photos. Matt was funny, friendly and very knowledgeable. We learned so much about the protocols and processes involved in this iconic ceremony.

I did the Changing of the Guards tour, led by Matt. This was an excellent tour and the only way to see this important and long-standing ceremony. As Matt says in his ads, hundreds or thousands gather outside the gates of Buckingham Palace, but they have no idea what will happen, when it will happen or why. And they are missing so many of the interesting aspects of the ceremony.
Matt has developed a route, timing and approach that lets his groups see multiple different stages of the process, all in different locations, and even march along with the Old Guard and the New Guard as they move from their two separate starting locations to the palace. At every point along the way, he tells interesting stories that provide good background on what is going on and why.
We had a great time, and we got so much more out of this two-hour block than we ever could have if we only went to one location and tried to make sense of it on our own. If you are interested in the pageantry and ceremony that surrounds this very traditional military process, you do not want to miss this tour. Thanks, Matt!!!

Had a great tour around Fleet Street, really informative and Matt was brilliant in telling us great facts and showing me a different part of London, my favourite bit was the fountain in the barasters quarter, areas which were tiny pieces of quiet, peace and calmness. We booked as a group and our organiser has promised us a few new tours in the future! I'm up for the Black death one!!!

I did the "Changing of the Guards" tour together with my 14yo son and we were the only ones doing it with Matt on a Sunday morning. It was really a blast, worth every penny. As we were the only ones, it was a lot more "intense" and direct. Really liked to chat with Matt the whole time and he explained things oh so well. He pointed out some more unusual facts (which I'm not going to spoiler here, of course).
A few years ago, I already had seen the changing of the guards, but only by standing at Buckingham Palace. With him, there was a whole lot more to see.
Enjoyed it massively 👍

Went with my friend on the secret London tour. Matt was a great tour guide- enthusiastic and
knowledgeable. Was great to get to see bits of London tourists do not always know about. On a Saturday too, it was very quiet in the city of London area which made for relaxing tour and a break from the hustle and bustle. Will definitely do another tour next time I’m back in London.

We did the changing of the guards tour with Matt. It was great and very informative. Matt was well educated on the matter and knew where to take us at exactly the right times to get the best views and complemented it with numerous fun facts along the way.

Such a great tour! Our tour guide was very knowledgeable with lots of energy and passion! He made the history engaging and exciting, and I'm confident we saw much more of the changing of the guards process than we would have on our own, as he had us move around to different locations during it. Definitely recommend!

Brilliant. We had such a wonderful tour on Saturday. Guide meant as promptly and off we set to discovered hidden London and discover we did! We learnt so much and the guide was not only informative but fun too. 5 stars all the way! Can't wait to come back again! Thank you Heidi and Jonathan from Oxford

Excellent value for money and very knowledgeable tour guide. When we go to London again we will definitely use this company. The guides told us so much more than we thought we knew about London and we got to see so much more at the Changing of the Guard walking tour than we woukd have done on our own.

The Changing of the Guard tour was fantastic. Andy was a great guide, very knowledgeable and engaging.

Changing of the Guard tour was excellent. Guide (Michael) was knowledgeable and engaging and had us in the right spots to get good views. Worth the money.

No other way to see the changing of the guards! We went with Matt, he was funny and knowledgeable. It was raining but still the show went on, and we had a great time. This tour is what you need to be on to see every second of the ceremony up front. Matt guided took us to the right places at the exact right time. Highly recommended.
In the afternoon we went with the secret london tour, Gaven was our guide, he also was funny and knowledgeable, all his info were interesting and innovative, things you don't hear about in any other tour and any research you try to do about London.
Very nicely done guys.

We had two tours on the same day, one with Danielle for "Changing of the Guards" and the other one with Matt "Secret London". We enjoyed both those tours and are glad our friends recommended them. We were up close for the "Changing of the Guards" and we saw more and had more information than to stand in front of Buckingham Palace with thousands of other people. Our "Secret London" tour with Matt was awesome, he showed us things we had no idea of and he had lots of information and knowledge about the places. We will definitely use them again when we are in London longer. Thank you for a wonderful experience!
K. R.
Experienced the tour on 8th May 2022. Enjoyed every moment and it was quite engaging. Matt lead us to important places at the right moment. Even explaining minute details helped.

We had a brilliant time on our Changing the Guard Walking Tour with Danielle, which was made just perfect by being lucky enough to see the Queen as she drove past us down the Mall.
Danielle was fun, entertaining and had us all well organised.
We all enjoyed it very much.

Another GREAT tour with Matt! This was my 3rd tour and I've loved every one of them. Matt is super knowledgeable and it is obvious that he loves London and really enjoys sharing his city with visitors. You really can't go wrong with one of Matt's tours.

My friend and I did a tour of Hidden London. We had a fantastic afternoon with our guild Rozie. She was very friendly, chatty and knowledgeable. She was clear when she was talking and happy to answer questions. This was our first tour but will not be the last one. Both of us were very impressed and this experience better than we thought it would be. Thank you Rozie hope to be on another tour with you in the future.

Thanks Matt for an excellent Alleyways & Courtyards walk last weekend. Highly recommend both Matt and this walk. Very informative and we learnt so much. Well worth the 18 month Covid delay and thanks to Chris for this perfect voucher gift.

I would highly recommend this tour company and especially Matt. We adored him. We did the changing of the guard tour an absolutely loved it. We were always perfectly positioned at every viewing location and expertly timed. Matt was very funny, informative, patient, kind, and made sure we had the best vantage points always. My 12 year old granddaughter really appreciated that he always listened to her and responded with such kindness and interest to her questions and comments. The meeting point was easy to find and Matt was there in perfect time. You just have to remember that this is not the standing at the palace gates being squished for 3 hour tour. This is a lively, totally enjoyable tour where you walk right along side the guards as they travel. Matt kept us thoroughly entertained the whole time.
C. K.
Matt was our guide for our FUN London Tour. I can’t recommend him enough! What a great, charismatic man! He told us so many great stories about British royalty, about historical facts, and was so much fun to be with. Anyone visiting London.... this is a must! It makes you appreciate their history so much more :)
P. M.
This was better than expected. I have seen bits of the changing the guards on previous visits but had no idea how many moving parts there were. Our guide was Dani, and she was fabulous. Very knowledgeable and funny. We started at Picadilly Circus and walked down to the parade route. Along the way, she pointed out interesting historical points and gave a nice overview of the history of the royal family and of the changing. We staked out a position near St. James and had a perfect view of the procession coming straight at us, then turn left at our feet. We then quickly marched along side as they processed to Buckingham Palace. At Buckingham, we saw the larger band march in. Back to St. James, watched the changing there. During the morning we also saw both sets of horse guards go by. It was all truly spectacular. Highly recommend this tour, so fun!

I have now been on around half a dozen walking tours with Fun London Tours and will certainly book any new ones they introduce.
Without exception we find their tours highly informative, hugely entertaining and great fun.
If you like quirky facts and amusing stories with an historic base this is tour for you. If you don't but still enjoy a chuckle, this is the tour for you.

Fun, informative, and an excellent experience. Jess was friendly and adaptable when taking us on the Changing of the Guard tour--as he said and we experienced, the military is not as predictable as one would think! The original plan on our recent visit to London was to simply stand in front of Buckingham Palace and catch what we could of the changing ceremony. Through Fun London Tours we were able to see many aspects of the ceremony, know what exactly was occurring, and march alongside the Old Guard! Matt & Jess also helped me determine the best time to book an afternoon tea following the tour so my family and I could get the best experience possible! Thank so much!!
M. B.
We were on the first tour of the year as on January and February it doesn't run. This is a one-man-independent tour, so you'll always have the same guide. Your guy is called Matt and he's simply brilliant! We did the Change of Guard tour and we were literally running after the guards from one place to another, from the inspection until when they reach the gates of Buckingham Palace. The tour was full of witty stuff about the guards, royal family and random pieces of history whenever there was the chance. Matt proved to have quite a knowledge of British history, but it also was a good fun overall. Definitely the most inventive tour I ever had so far.
M. F.
This was one of the best tours I have ever been on. My friend and I came from the US to spend the weekend in London, and saw how highly reviewed this tour was so we booked. We were not let down at all, and even had the best time! Matt was our guide and he was so knowledgeable, and answered a ton of questions from the group. He got us right up front to all the action, and made sure no one got lost in the crowd. Our group was mixed, including some small children, and Matt made everyone feel important, was super friendly, and made sure everyone was included. I HIGHLY recommend this tour, and Matt as a guide, he knows his stuff and you won't be disappointed!

We went on the Changing of the Guard tour and the Secret London tour this past October and they were both amazing! Matt was a fantastic guide, incredibly knowledgeable. But one of the things I thought was most impressive was when right before our Guard tour, someone hadn't shown up yet that was scheduled to be there and Matt actually took the time to try and call the person, several times, and left a voice message trying to get a hold of them and let them know the tour was starting. I thought, hey, he could have just started the tour and said forget about that person but he seemed genuinely upset that he hadn't gotten a hold of them yet. Now, you pay for these tours ahead of time so Matt could have easily just left and not worried about it but he waited until the last possible minute before starting, And he even got a hold of that person later in the tour and told them where to meet us. I thought that was incredibly nice of him.
Also, Matt truly loves his job! He's very enthusiastic when talking about things that he literally sees hundreds of times per year!
Matt also went above and beyond and recommended an area of London for us to find some delicious curry after we inquired about dinner options after the secret London tour. We ventured out, away from the tourist areas of the city and found a little place that served some of the best Curry we've ever had!
Needless to say, I was very impressed with the tours and would highly recommend them to anyone! I'm very glad we finished our London trip with these two tours and thank you Matt if you get a chance to read this! Hopefully we see you again someday!

We went on the Changing of the Guard Walking Tour on Sunday & it was absolutely brilliant. Our guide was great, FUN & informative! He took us to all of the right places to make sure we saw & experienced the event in the best way possible, despite it being busy. Well worth the money - don't bother standing in front of Buckingham Palace for ages - do this like they suggest!
C. L.
I had a fabulous tour with Matt and was so glad I hadn't tried to watch the Changing of the Guard before because his way is clearly the best way! It's active, it's interesting, and it's never dull, as Changing of the Guard so often reputedly can be, if you don't know where to stand, what to look for, etc. The horses, the uniforms, the bands, the colours -- all very gorgeous and packed with history. I wish I had done this years ago and frankly I don't see how a Londoner can call themselves a Londoner if they haven't see the Changing of the Guard!
L. W.
Terrific way to learn about London! Small group tours with guides that make it seem like you are walking around with a knowledgable friend. Matt is terrific. I have taken the Secret London tour and The Royal Tour and plan to take more. You learn the extra little details that you cannot find on a website or in a guide book. I have signed up to take the tours by myself and the other people on the tour are really nice too. Highly recommend

We loved our Changing of the Guard Tour with Daniella! It was so educational AND so much fun! We got wonderful pictures and saw and understood all the workings of the ceremony. I would highly recommend this tour! I wish I had known in advance how wonderful they would be because I would have planned other tours with them while we were there.

We had lots of fun. The tour was informative and well organized.

What I loved about the tour was Matt:
He loves what he does and it shows.
He knows , A LOT!
He genuinely cares about us, his tourists.
I wish the tour had been longer to hang out and hear more things from Matt (or that I had had more time in London) for he is full of info of all sorts about the city.
Will definitely will be booking more tours with him as I do come often to town. Highly recommend anyone to STOP THINKING about it and BOOK your tour. I did the change of guards with my teenage niece (not an easy client the teenager) and she loved it too.
If English is not your native language, worry not; Matt speaks very clearly and uses appropriate words for everyone to understand.
It was a great experience, two thumbs up. Thank you Matt & all the best for you!

I had an awesome walking tour with 2 friends from America who's stop-over in London was just 1 day! Matt was our guide and he was so friendly and full of interesting info, and seemed to have answers for all my random questions!! It was so good especially as made my friends short London layover so enriched and fun, without being exhausting, and introduced them nicely to some of the beautiful highlights in London and quirky bits of info! It was the rainiest day, but Matt said we could still go if we wanted, and my friends were so glad they did, as was I as a Londoner who never sees the traditional British sights! Despite the rain, and the Changing of the Guards being more low key as a result, it was awesome fun and we got cuddled up to by one of the Horse Guard's horses! Definitely Will do another of Matt's tours :)
D. A.
Very interesting tour, finding places we never knew existed and certainly wouldn't have known the history behind. Matt was very knowlegeable and helpful. Would definitely recommend.
K. D.
Had a great time on the Changing of the Guards Walking Tour! Our guide, Daniella, was very well informed and had high energy that made the event even more exciting! We were able to get excellent views of the guards marching to Buckingham and of the guards at St. James Palace! Would recommend Fun Tours!

Myself and my American family (10 of us altogether) took a tour with Matt on 26th May and it was FANTASTIC. I lived in London for 2 years and tried to take many people to see the changing of the guards but this way is the best way to do it by a mile - you actually get to see stuff! I can't recommend this experience enough; not only do you get to see all the different elements of the ceremony up close, you also get to do it with an enthisiastic, charismatic and very informative guide like Matt! Thank you Matt for a very memorable day.
M.
Fantastic! We took the Forgotten London tour this week. Our guide, Phil, was informative, funny and kept a nice pace for our tour. His excitement and passion for the history of London was infectious! Not only did he give a great tour, he also pointed us in the direction of some off the beaten path gems we could explore on our own. THANK YOU! You set the pace for a wonderful family visit to London.
M. C.
Without exaggerating, this was one of the best guided tours of my life. Our tour guide Ohill was excellent on so many levels - he obviously loved what he was doing and this showed in his attitude, making everyone engaged in the tour. The places we stopped at and the historical and factual information were all interesting, and the tour was not overly based on dry historical facts. The highlights of the tour for me was that we heard some amazing stories about the Queen Mother and also a story about a man who broke into the Buckingham Palace and got to talk to the Queen. Truly fascinating. And of course, being able to march alongside the guards before they change was absolutely brilliant, and a great opportunity to take photos of the guards in action. Highly recommended.

Changing of the Guard walking tour - Fun and interesting at every level. Angus was our guide - funny, informative, full of trivia and data - and had impeccable timing to get our group to the next best location to see the next best thing. Much better than hanging around by the gates at Buckingham... Very cool stuff! As a Yank living in London, it was great fun and I'll bring other visitors to this again.

We recently booked a change of guards London walking tour and we have to say it was perhaps the most fun tour I have ever taken. Matt was our guide and not only did we get to see a lot, but we also learned quite a bit of history of different places and of the change of guard itself. Thank you Matt.
D. C.
We did the Changing of the Guard London Walking Tour, which was absolutely AMAZING. Jess was our guide and he made walking "fun". We were always in a great spot to see the action. We felt like we were part of the guard changing ceremony!!! It couldn't have been any better.
We also did the Essential London Walking Tour with Jess where he pointed out and told amazing stores of the sites we walked past.

Book here now. My friend was over from the US two weeks before my family and loved Fun London so much she basically made us book in for our time in London as well. My husband is from London and wasn’t sold on the idea, but was open to it. So we did, and it was fabulous. Even my skeptical Brit husband was raving about all when we got to see to his family later that day.
Angus was friendly, professional, funny and so on top of his game. He knew where to be, moments before we needed to be. He knew what facts to tell, just as you wanted to know what was going to happen. He was funny, without being cheesy or over the top. So basically, perfect. We felt well taken care of for the entire event, the Changing of the Guard.
WELL worth the £!
J. D.
Matt is an amazing tour guide. I really enjoyed learning about the history of London and discovering the old city of London. Feel free to ask him any questions. Best tour ever he makes it fun. This was our last day in London and we had a great time.
Thanks Matt.

Terrific tour. Very easy and efficient company to work with. The government changed the schedule for the Changing of the guard. The company immediately reached out to me and asked if we wanted to on a Royal Horse Guard tour or if we wanted a refund. We opted for the tour. Our guide Jess was fantastic. Lots of great tidbits of info. We saw 3 royal residences and the horse guard. We also got to see 10 Downing St. I would wholeheartedly recommend this company and the Horse Guard tour.
c. b.
Due to the world wide virus situation and the Australian government advising all Australians not to travel overseas, my travelling companions and myself cancelled our 7 week holiday to the UK. We contacted Fun London Tours indicating that we would need to cancel our planned walk. Within 3 days we had a refund in our bank account.
Well done to the company for its consideration and efficiency at what must be a troubling time for all tour operators.
We will certainly booking more than one walk with the company when we can finally travel safely to the UK
K. R.
The walking tour with Jess was a great way to spend a wintry afternoon. We learnt lots of Secrets about London as he revealed interesting facts to us that we would never have otherwise known. The kids enjoyed it too, as Jess told us the stories with great character and enthusiasm. Definitely recommend.
S. S.
Had a great time on the Changing of the Guard tour. Matt was very knowledge about the details of the guard and the best places to see all the action. We even had a great view of the Queen when she drove by!!!
K. A.
I went to the changing of the guard tour. It was easily the most amazing and informative tour I've ever been in during my entire time in London (and rest of the world for that matter). We were guided by Amber, the tour was rather fast paced, but she kept it very fun (live up to the name of the company). Amber was exuberant, exciting, mood-lifting, friendly and made everyone felt welcomed. I enjoyed the changing of the horse guards and the pictures and videos that I took there were legendary ♥️ We also saw the guards in St James place and marching band leaving from Wellington barracks and we had the opportunity to march alongside and that was a lot of fun! Along the tour Amber did quite a play involving all of the tour members of how the Monarch reign. She did it in a way that was much more entertaining and easier to remember compared to history lessons and Netflix series put together 😂😂 In the end she was offering everyone to take pictures. It was a sweet day. Make sure you prepared running shoes with you during this tour 😅 My asics goretex running shoes sure helped me ease the pace ♥️♥️
R. B.
We went on the forgotten London tour. Matt was an excellent tour guide and was very engaging in the experience, there were photos and interesting stories that would would not hear on a normal tour. We would definitely recommend that you go on one of these tours.
J. F.
Shame we can't give it more stars. AMAZING!!!! We were so excited to be able to take this tour after the great reviews we read. Matt was so knowledgeable and very impressive with his knowledge. I will now be on the lookout for all his little tips. We started on time and saw the entire procession from four different vantage points. You do move on the tour but it is not bad at all. We were only upset we were leaving the next day and unable to take more of his tours. Cannot wait to go again if the chance every allows.
D. P.
Fantastic tour! Very informative, it was a great delivery making it fun to listen to. Saw lots of places I would never have seen without the tour.
S. T.
The best, most informative and friendly tour I have ever been on. Much better going with these guys as they are a smaller company hence giving each and every person more of a wholesome feeling. Would definitely recommend them to any person wishing to visit London. Danielle was a great guide and gave us an abundant amount of information that we all cherished considerably. Sam - Australia

Matt immediately brings a great atmosphere in the group and selects the right place at the right time on the Changing of the Guards Tour.
The Essential London Walking Tour is excellent and offers a new and funny look at the well-known places. Thanks Matt for sharing that !
S. M.
This was an excellent tour! I took it today when rainy weather was a risk to the parade, but it stopped in time--and undoubtedly reduced the crowds.Matt was a wonderful guide, providing interesting tidbits about the landmarks we passed and situating us strategically so we were perfectly positioned to be the closest to the key events. He is a charming and knowledgable guide. Highly recommend it.
P. N.
Great tour by Matt! Njoyed the guard change process.
M. G.
Took the changing of the guard tour on May 6th. Brilliant tour. Fun and informative tour guide, Danielle, took us to different parts of the changing of the guard. Had a great morning on tour. I would recommend this tour highly.

In a city of otherwise pricy meals, attractions and excursions, London Fun Tours is the best 12 pounds you will spend your entire trip. For the same price as a tube fair from Heathrow to Kings Cross, you will spend an utterly fascinating two hours visiting the less known side of London with some of the most knowledgeable tour guides I have ever met.
Personally, I took the hidden London tour. Our guide, Phil did so much more than just recite a script in front of buildings. His limitless knowledge of the area permitted him to capture our interest about the smallest details. That seemingly limitless knowledgeable permitted him to answer even the most precise question. He recounted thrilling tales of places I would have otherwise passed by without a second glance.
Phil brought the streets of historic London to life a way I did believe possible. This was a fantastic tour and an absolute must for any visitors to London.
M. S.
Gavin was the best guide ever. He was knowledgeable, informative, & even touching when he told us about poor Henry Croft, the destitute man who raised charity funds to help poor boys by inventing the Pearly Kings & Queens of the East End, but who died in the same St Pancras workhouse that he was born in. He knew every date, was funny, engaging, inclusive of everyone, even conspiratorial at times. Learnt loads & better still, I could actually remember it all such was the panache of his delivery...& wait for it, I am a lifelong Londoner.
E. S.
Did changing of guard tour yesterday with Rozie as our guide.
Very well done, kids listened to every word! Can reccomend as a must if not too familiar with the guards routine and history.
Rozie was great; knowledgeable and friendly with a good dose of humor.
Ka-kow!

We had a nice tour! Too bad it didn't stop raining in time.
Matt did a great job on explaining the different sites starting from piccadilly circus with the end point at the buckingham palace and provided a lot of information.
I. d.
Brilliant, well organised, made the changing of the guard brilliant. Our guide Gavin was knowledgeable and funny but also brilliant at getting us in the right places at the right times.
Really good. Kids (6&8) loved it too.
R. Z.
They run a great Changing of the Guard tour that is hands-down the best way to experience the ceremony. The tour guides are fun, friendly, energetic, and informative. Great experience all around.
J. H.
Rain, rain, drizzle, oh—there is a bit of blue sky, but then drizzle, rain, but through it all Matt adapted our walking tour to what might happen due to the weather. We got more than we bargained for. He knows his subject and is a wonderful interpreter and story teller. He was great in engaging our young four grandchildren.
M. A.
Excellent experience. Danielle was fantastic!!! We were able to capture the Changing of the Guard at different spots because of her. Recommend this tour highly. Thanks Danielle!
H. T.
Did the Grime and Punishment tour. Can't remember the tour guides name but he could double as Hagrid and was super awesome. Lots of interesting facts, good for those who've lived in London for a decade and for people just visiting for the day.
J. C.
Did the Changing of the Guard tour with ANGUS. It was tremendous fun. Angus knows heaps of stuff and is a lovely guy. Was one of the most memorable and enjoyable tours I've done .

Had a terrific morning experiencing all aspects of the changing of guard. Thanks Danni, the information you shared and the positioning you got us for each movement was outstanding. Still can’t believe they lost the band!! Cheers.

Excellent tour Guide, we have really enjoyed the Royal Guard tour with Matt, so professional, funny and so pleasant person, we learned a lot of things with him thank you for the lovely time we had spent with you Matt

It was fun exploring the change of guard with Matt and a group of people from different countries (German, USA, yes of course UK). It always striked to me that if i had done it myself, will i make it to the right spot at right time. Thats where Matt comes in to picture with his witty presentation. It was indeed the right way to start the day :) Thanks Matt!
A. B.
Taking the Changing of the Guard Tour with Fun London Tours was the smartest decision we made! Thank you Dani for being an awesome guide!

They were amazing! They provided us with the best part of the two weeks we were in London. When you go to see the changing of the guards that is the tour you want to use!

Very informative tour with great timing to be able to actually walk with the guard. Phil really did an excellent job and gave us so much additional history. Thanks for the great tour.

(Translated) Why settle for just one view for the change of the royal guard when Fun London Tours offers several thanks to their experience. Worth the investment.

Pourquoi ce contenter d'une seule vue pour le changement de la garde royale alors que Fun London Tours en propose plusieurs grâce à leur expérience. Investissement qui en vaut vraiment la peine.
