Debbie and Neil could not have been more helpful. We chose the 2 hr option and received a warm, friendly welcome aboard this traditional dutch sailing barge. The river was calm, but with a gentle breeze the foresail was all that was needed to propel us along. There were plenty of photo opportunities including the resident seal who visits the mussel beds and several herons. Neil pointed out the home of Lord Falmouth who now has some tea plantations on the river banks. We also were able to see the National Trust Trelissick. We sailed past the King Harry Ferry and up one of the creeks to Combe. Sailing Barge Drifter has an engine which can be used when needed, but for the most part, the occasional flap of the sail cloth and the turn of a winch is the only sound you hear above nature. I can't imagine a better way to explore the river, so completely different and more personal to a regular tourist boat. We're going to book the 4 hour experience next time. Highly recommended.

Wonderful Sailing Experience
For anyone who would like a sailing experience, we would thoroughly recommend Neil and Debbie to take you on their beautiful traditional boat from Malpas and around the unspoilt Truro River. The whole experience was totally professional and we had a wonderful time. Thank you. John Redstone. Truro.

We were on a short trip to Falmouth and wanted a water boat experience. We found sailing barge drifter online and decided to give it a go. It was a 40min drive to Malpas from Falmouth and we managed to park past The Heron Inn although this can be tricky. Neill and Debbie were very welcoming and really informative about the area. The boat is beautiful and we were lucky that the wind was gusty, so we enjoyed a proper sailing experience. At mid-day we anchored up and munched our picnic (including some bubbles)with Trelissick House in the background - what could be better? We are so glad we found this trip as we had a fantastic experience.

Debbie and Neil were fantastic hosts for a 4hr sail/drift. It was such a treat to see the river from a different perspective, and their local knowledge added hugely to our enjoyment. Extremely confident and compentant captain and host, this was a highlight of our holiday and a very special anniversary celebration. Definitely recommend 100%!

We would thoroughly recommend a trip on the sailing barge Drifter with Debbie and Neil. We had a great sail on a sunny Sunday, sailing down the river from Malpas to the Carrick Roads. It was a lovely day, so relaxing and a great way to enjoy the river. The sailing barge itself is a beautiful boat. Debbie and Neil are great hosts, both extremely welcoming and knowledgeable. Hope to come back and visit one day for another sail!

Lorraine and I had a magical sail in the river and Carrick Roads. Perfect sailing weather ensured our trip included a range of sailing situations including observing yacht racing at close quarters but also seeing much wildlife and many historic points of interest and learning much about this beautiful and unique place. Neil and Debbie were perfect hosts and their calm and friendly manner and extensive experience of yachts and yachting in an international context as well as wide and deep local knowledge really instilled confidence. We would recommend a sail aboard Drifter as an essential element in a Cornish holiday. We are already planning our next trip.
