Went to watch Skunk Anansie. The band was amazing, the staff were friendly. The drinks were way overpriced at the bar, the floors were sticky on arrival and there were already plastic cups lying around even though we'd arrived before anybody else. The security staff stood directly in front of the band the whole time which really did get annoying. I understand why they have to be present but I paid for tickets to see my favourite band and had some beefy security guards in my vision the whole evening. When I got home to watch my videos and look at my photos all of my memories were blocked by security who could have easily stood left and right of the act and off the stage area.

Had a great time here at a Halestorm gig. Didn't have much of a chance to see the building as it was so busy but enjoyed ourselves a lot!

Beautiful performance from Mitski!! However the union obviously didn't realise what kind of performance this would be and what her fans are like. Waaay too cramped and hot. At least 3 people fainted. We did finally get some water which was good, but it wasn't enough for how much everyone was dripping with sweat!

I've been here twice for anime and gaming conventions. Very large building, easy to navigate with adjoined pub "Taff" where food is tasty and relatively cheap.

Stopped and had some food here when we drop our son off for his first year of uni. The Taf has a nice feel to it and serves well priced drinks and food. Our food came out quickly and overall was hot and tasty.. I had the beast burger which was good. The sweet potato fries where a bit cold on my sons meals and the salsa mix on my wife's nachos was a bit sparce. Would definitely go again when visiting.

Excellent music venue. Live sound is sometimes affected by the shape of room (curtains on back balcony) and expensive for non-drinkers as it was £3 a pint of non brand coca cola.

Wow an outstanding gig venue. Its the first time I've visiting the Students' Union so I wasn't sure what to expect but I loved it. We saw Becky Hill here tonight and it was at 1500 capacity but it wasn't too crowded. Lighting and sound was on point. I'll be keeping an eye out for future events here!

Good venue with a decent location next to loads of parking and Cathays Train station. I was there for a gig recently expecting the drinks to be cheap at a students union but no. Drinks were very expensive, so get the pre drinks in!

The main hall is great for gigs. But get there early to get a good view and also navigate the maze that is the union
