Since I’ve been at Ernest I’ve been able to enjoy the great features to the accommodation including the cinema room the gym and sauna. The hospitality team have been great since I’ve gotten here Michaela and Joanna, who work on reception, have been great with me since I arrived at the start of my tenancy. They try their hardest to accommodate for peoples needs. The rooms are great and the rest of the staff who work here are really friendly and nice. I’ve really enjoyed staying here during my studies I couldn’t recommend it enough :)

I had a lovely time living in Ernest place this past year. The facilities and rooms were great and the hospitality team (Joanna and Michaela) were always friendly and welcoming. They also host events throughout the year, like an Easter egg hunt, smoothie bar and chocolate fountain! It was very affordable and the free bus pass made it easy to get to into the town centre as well. I couldn’t recommend it more :)

During my time at Ernest I’ve been really pleased, there are plenty of great features you can use during your tenancy. Michaela is the head of hospitality and could not be any nicer or try any harder for people. I’ve came to her with a number of enquiries or just for a quick chat and she’s always done everything that she can to help. Joanna is also in reception and is absolutely lovely, and will try her best to resolve any issues your having aswell as Michaela. The cleaning and maintenance team are also fantastic. Living here with and having both Michaela, Joanna and the rest of the team available has been very comforting during my tenancy.
I couldn’t recommend Ernest place enough to stay during your studies.

The Hospitality Team were incredibly helpful and generous with their time and efforts. You felt completely supported by their professionalism and time management. They were responsive and understanding to me at all times for the 11 months I lived at Ernest Place, Mansion Student accomodation whilst studying my MA at Durham University. The reception frequently offered free cosmetics and cleaning supplies as well as ice-creams in the summer heat and would generously host tea and coffee mornings/afternoons during public holidays such as Chinese New Year and Valentine's Day etc.
The actual accomodation itself was well looked after and always clean and safe to live in. My room had it's own kitchen and bathroom with a decent amount of storage space which was presented to me as clean and modern as any quality hotel room. The regular fire drills and routine cleaning of the communal areas made the accomodation feel reliable and comfortable. Definitely worth the money and the location allows you to enjoy a decent walk in and out of the centre of Durham with the convenience of the large Tesco Extra across the road for any essentials.
Thank you Ernest Place!

I had the best 2 years at Ernest Place. The place itself has a very luxurious feel to it, the rooms and the kitchen are spacious and with plenty of storage space. Joanna and Michaela from the Hospitality Team were always helpful and accommodating and always made sure we have everything we need, especially during the pandemic. And Big Tesco (and the McDonalds) right next door made living even easier.

Great staff, extremely clean, COVID precautions in place.
The shared spaces are amazing and are currently available for use fallowing the current government guidelines for covid.
The staff are all very friendly and helpful with any questions and plan fun activities for residents like a free milkshake bar.
I have never moved into a room as clean as mine was (and I'm very picky about cleanliness). They must have hired a full team of people to clean each room.
The accomodation offers move-in packs that contain everything to stock your kitchen which can be booked online. I didn't use the service, but I thought it would be perfect for newly arrived international students.
The large tesco, Aldi and Lidl are within 5 minutes walking of the apartments (also a cute Chinese noodle takeout place that looks amazing)
Some cons:
Induction stove - studio rooms only (presumably for fire safety)
Convection oven - studio rooms only (the instructions are on the housing app, I've been able to bake pies and cookies in it fine)
Far from the city center (about 20 minute walk)
There is a bus stop right behind the apartment which I recommend using to get to the library (a 30-45 minute walk), but the buses don't always arrive on time
