These past two years have been amazing. I have been studying animation and game art at SAE and it was awesome. Our lecturer Amil was amazing with the way he taught us about animation, by actually going though our works and helping us where we needed. even though half of our time here was spent at home and we could not go on campus because of covid, he still gave 110% to each of us. Even when it was outside of lesson and it wasn't about the course work. he is a really down to earth guy who is passionate about the games industry. if anyone want to get into the animation/game business, i highly recommend coming to SAE London.

The masterclass with Adrian Bushby was absolutely fantastic! Adrian is a really nice, down to earth yet extremely experienced guy who was keen to answer every question that we had. He gave some interesting insight, nice stories and a lot of motivation to become a producer and engineer.

I really liked the 2 Year 3D Animation Course I did back in 2015 and while there are some negatives, for me, they were far outweighed by the positive support I received from the majority of the tutors teaching the syllabus.
I'll start with the positives:
Amil, the Head Tutor of the course, is one of the most passionate teachers I've ever had in my life; full stop. He actually takes the time to listen to his students and get to know them so that he can help them in a way that works, FOR THEM (providing you give him a chance and let him in, of course!).
This sort of support throughout the 2 years (including my Final Major Project in the end) helped me to open up and expand my skills not only as an artist in both 2D & 3D, but also as a person too; not a lot of teachers I've had can put a claim on being able to do that...
The guest lecturers that we used to have too, Roger (Story-boarding & Cartooning) and Kitty (Anatomy & Acting), both made me feel comfortable to be curious, ask questions about things and made me enjoy learning.
The negatives are this...:
Whilst I was there, I had the displeasure of being lectured by a man named Dan Lavi; thankfully, he's not at SAE anymore. He didn't really seem to care about his students too much.
So much so, that when it came to my Final Major Project and I was assigned him as a mentor, he put doubt in my mind and tried to change what I should do. Even when I told him I was set on adapting one of my 2D characters to 3D.
Every lecture I had with him numbed my mind and made me want to leave (I actually did half-way through one day, much to his disappointment; as if I cared though. I got more work done at home that evening than I would have done that WHOLE DAY.)
His only redeeming quality; he was a good clay sculpting/anatomy teacher.
Senior management has... too many problems to name...! I'll just narrow it down to the fact that they could really benefit from a course in, "How To Listen To Feedback and Make Changes For The Better".
If there's anything to take away from this; My experience was good because I had excellent tutors. If you're in doubt, stick by the tutors that spend as much time listening to you as they do teaching you. Ask them as many questions as you can, that's why they're there with you.

Did a 2 year course in video game animation, course provided me with the tools and skills to be industry ready with out the nonsense university gimmicks. The teachers on campus have true passion for teaching and proved to go above and beyond to provide the tools to guarantee the success of students.
The campus itself is rather small but extremely well equipped with industry spec machines and up to date software to provide you with expireince in relavent tools used by artists, musicians and Web designers in this current era. SAE London is a one of the greatest places to find your passion.

I took a risk switching my previous course to game art animation. I wanted to do something where my strongest interest lies and I found this course. Never regretted. When they say they'll teach the basics of the basics, they actually do. The unexpected part is how hands on and practical the lessons were. Likewise, you learn very quickly. You are not just taught the course, but also 'how' to learn. From practical and theory it was effective. The teachers were great as in the get go, they don't establish any teacher-student barrier. You can approach them easily even in casual conversation. Would I say I learned everything about the 3D industry and skills? I'd say no, but mainly because one will come to an understanding that you can't learn everything. Moreover, self-discipline and initiative is very important. There's going to be a lot of sleepless nights and tight deadlines, so you need to keep focused or you'll fall behind. The promise can promise many things, but it all depends on the individual's effort on what they'll achieve. I met great classmates who inturn became young professionals. You learn from teachers and classmates, in both hard and easy times. In short, learned a lot, set my future on track and most of all, I had fun. GG

2 years learning anything and everything about Maya, 3D and the industry. Some amazing staff who taught me everything i know and i wouldnt be where i am today without them. Head of Animation Amil Metcalfe puts in 200% with his students and this is evident from the work produced and the grades achieved, if he doesnt know the answer (and that's rare...) he'll strive to help you find it together. Roger (graphic novel artist) and Kitty (anatomy and animation) also helped to provide a solid foundation within the course whilst i was there. Its only now that i'm working in the industry that i can honestly say im proud of how much ive learnt from these lecturers. A brilliant course.

You'll read a load of "reviews" here which will make you question your sanity. Ultimately, you will get out of your course what you put in. Sure, there are some issues at the London campus, but you'll find issues wherever you go regardless of industry (nothing is perfect).
I've been at SAE London since September 2017. I resigned from my own highly successful company to study here and I don't regret it for one second. The Audio lecturers are oracles of information and experts in their field - listen to what they have to say and ask loads of questions, and you won't go far wrong. There are five studios for you to learn and practice on, and that's not including the Foley suite and post-production suites. So, you have highly experienced lecturers and a shed-load of facilities and equipment at your disposal for your course.
At the end of the day, you can spend all your time moaning and complaining that a certain piece of equipment doesn't work or that a certain lecturer isn't to your liking. Or you can focus your efforts on doing the best you can to get the best result that you can. My advice: do the latter.

I completed the Music Production & Song writing short course last year, I'm so glad I made the commitment, the facilities are great and still feeling exceptionally lucky to have had Marco Caricola as our tutor. Such an infectious mix of knowledge, passion, encouragement, humour and most of all breaking down those learning barriers, Yes I have my home studio now, yes I can use automation and sidechain properly! Hahaha. Seriously though, Marco is an absolute gem! Thank you for the journey.
