St charles is a really great sixth form college full of many opportunities. There are so many different classes with so many wonderful teachers who truly care about their students grades and futures. St charles has so many important roles especially in student council, I’m currently in yr 13 and I’m an ambassador and multi religious rep where anyone of any faith can talk or share their views with me. I think this is important as being an ambassador means to show how special this sixth form college is to parents and guardians on open days and means that students can come to me with any issues. Through st charles I have had the opportunity to speak to different universities and find the actual uni I want to go to and now I have an offer from my no.1 university and will go to study law and become a barrister there all because the college wants students to find a university they will enjoy.

Hiring for Extra Circular Sports:
Courts are somewhat decent to hire, although the toilets & changing rooms maybe locked during the session.
Courts could be cleaner and should be maintained, this could be a result of students not readily changing shoes when entering the sports hall. This can easily transfer dirt into the vicinity removing traction and increasing the risk of slipping and injury to customers.
There is a water fountain at the enterence.

St Charles is an environment that encourages me to pursue my dreams. My teachers have been very supportive and encouraging throughout the year especially during difficult times in lockdown. I appreciate all their hard work and effort that they put in to ensure that covid-19 doesn’t impact our education negatively. St Charles allows me not only do well academically but also provides me with tons of opportunities such as work experiences.

I studied travel and tourism Level 3 in this college and it was tremendous. My teachers were very considerate, kind, helpful and professional. There were a lot of enrichments to choose from on wednesdays and a lot of useful facilities.

St Charles is an amazing sixth form College for students who want to explore new subjects and express themselves freely. Our headteacher, Mr Twist, is friendly, motivated and dedicated to all his staff and students. There are many activities to participate in such as sports, stem club, caberat or the chaplaincy. They also have a great career advisors who are always there to help, especially with university applications.

I attended this college 2019-2021 and I just want to say it was an amazing experience. At the beginning I joined because I want a change of scenery and to meet new people but I got that and more. I was part of a community (family) and they all accepted me with open arms. All the teachers were very helpful and would take time out of their busy schedule to make sure you were alright and to help you with anything you need. All teachers would use different teaching methods and would encourage you to think outside the box and to try your best. They also taught me to learn from my mistakes and use them to improve myself. Especially during the pandemic, St Charles did everything in their power to make sure all students were alright and safe, from calling every other day to check up on all students to still provide bursary and free school meal payments, they did everything. My experience was great, thats all, there is no other way to explain it.

St Charles was more than just a college. It was a community and a family. Walking around the large college seeing the different cultures from the different people embraces the college and the area of Ladbroke Grove being a diverse area.Never had I had any problems with the college and if there were any problems the approachable staff and secure leadership team would make sure that everything would be dealt with appropriately and professionally. The supportable help for my way to university was specific to st.Charles, which would make this college different to other colleges as I would helped every step of the way through my application through UCAS and I was able to land multiple universities with the vast help I was given. The multiple sports and extra curricular actives with St Charles allows students to embrace there hobbies and skills, with the basketball and football allowing students to increase there skills and allowing them to extend there knowledge. To conclude my experience was breathtaking and is hard to explain it in one word.I can only say go and experience it for yourself. You will not be disappointed.

I enrolled in this college in 2013-15 for two years. It felt very good, I greatly enjoyed my time and the vibe was on point. Made a good amount of friends. Left with good A-level Grades. However, the as the years have gone by its turned from a sixth form college into a social club, the standard of teaching and education has worsened and gotten poorer from what I have seen and heard.

I was at St Charles from September 1995 to June 1998. The best years of my life. Excellent staff. Excellent teaching. Mr Votta was the best teacher I ever had. He taught Physics. Did well in my A-Levels thanks to him. Mr Votta also helped me prepare for university. I am now a fully qualified Maths teacher with a Maths-related degree. Wouldn't mind working at St Charles. I will forever cherish my time at St Charles. If I could have my time at St Charles Sixth Form again, I would take it in a heartbeat. I strongly recommend this college if you want to work hard and go to university especially if you are starting from a low academic point like I did.

Only there for a short time which was such a pity. Beautiful school staff and management group very supportive and friendly people. Young people are respectful..If it wasn't so far for me to travel too I would apply for a permanent teaching position in a heart beat ..For me it was a good fit ..If your passionate about your subject specialism enjoy having your own autonomy to be creative knowing you have full support from your manager.. Then look out for a vacancy .. l will be ..lastly if the majority of the staff team are still there after 20 years ...What does that say...

I went to this college last year to do my GCSE's, with help of the teachers I passed all my subjects and everything went really well. This college has some students that don't care about their studies or attendence, as long as you don't mix with them you should be fine. The school also has a gym which I enjoyed using a lot.

In this cut-throat education climate, its very rare to have a school that understands errors and gives students second chances.
St Charles is a state school that tries its best to provide a good education for students, many of whom have some form of handicap to their learning ranging from socio-economic background, previous institutional failures that left students uncared for both academically and personally or have language barriers that make migrant students 'too risky' for neighbouring academies and sixthforms to take in. St Charles is a catholic college at heart yet boasts a vibrant and diverse community of students that range in ethnicity, nationality, religion and all are welcome.
This school has a particularly impressive sporting background as the sports department consistently wins titles both in and out of the borough in football, basketball and rugby. So if your child is keen on sports this is a great fit. This is not to say that other departments are lacking, on the contrary, what makes this a fantastic state school is the passion that the teacher have for their subjects and their tenacity in wanting students to succeed. A tough love approach is common in this school, so thick skin is advised. Every Wednesday the school runs for half a day so that after lunchtime, students can take up enrichment activities to increase their employability later down the line.
This school, from the way it is set up, allows students to independently manage their time and what they do on and off site which is a great tool for those who know how to use it. This allows students to have a part-time job should they need to support themselves or their families. It also allows students to get a taster for what university life is like as no-body will run after you to make sure you are 'on job' in university. The onus of learning is on the student, teachers will definitely support students but students are expected to put in the hard work needed to succeed.
To judge this college fairly, you have to understand its context and circumstances . This is why it gets 5 stars from me, not because it is a shiny 'outstanding' college that runs like a business and promises to get your children to the top rungs of society by any means. It gets 5 stars because its an actual school that cares about its student body and gives you a second chance to try to better yourself when all other schools would look the other way and damn you to academic redundancy.
My siblings came to this school, I came to this school, i've recommended people to this school and those people have also recommended this school to others. It is on the up with a new head teacher and new possibilities on the horizon. Even the student body has improved, with recent students attending russell group unis such as Oxford, LSE, Queen Mary, Imperial and Kings College.
If you want to be part of a community and not a bureaucratic schooling system, this is the place for your child/you.
(oh and the lunch ladies are fab- food is not the healthiest .. but who doesn't like a good chicken nugget - plus you can buy food off-site during break and lunch)
