in my opinion, this course was unlike any other course in a university. It's more practical and relevant to today's standards. You don't just go to a lecture, sit there, and listen to the lecturer until he/she finishes but rather you will have the opportunity to be in an environment that is similar to what in the real industry. You will be working on real client projects from the earliest days on the course. You will be working alongside fellow students and staff, and be at the centre of a teaching network which includes industry mentors and experts.
It is been 3 years for me in this course and I have just graduated. I found the course very informative and preparatory for the real job. I knew that because I did a summer placement during the last two years in the course and when I was in the company where I did the placement at, my knowledge was highly relevant to the work I was responsible for.
The course is new and the curriculum keep changing a lot for the better off course since the IT industry is changing very fast too. Staff are trying their best to provide the best experience and they take students' feedback seriously and that was really obvious.
I never regret joining this course and I highly recommend it :)

Having now completed the last 3 years of study here at the NSA, I can definitely say that I have been thoroughly prepared for industry.
The modules are highly relevant to what is used in the real world and the NSA offers many incredible opportunities for the students, such as internships and networking events with industry partners.
The course itself is practical and I really feel that I've come out with a great set of both technical and business skills.
The course still has room for some improvements, but I would recommend this course to anyone interested in starting a career as a software engineer.

All the lectures are so enthusiastic about what they teach and many on occasion have spent many hours with me during and after lessons to help with anything I didn't understand.
The course content left me prepared to graduate and I was fortunate enough to be offered a great developer role before I'd even graduated.
They're receptive to feedback and do their best to make every year better and to cater to industry changes and requests.
It's made me much more confident from all the industry professionals coming in and I've made some great networks fairly naturally just by being there.
It's a one of its kind course and I'm very happy with what I've achieved and taken from the course, honestly only made possible by the kind and patient lecturers

This is the most up and coming course you can do for the tech field, as a new course, I was in the second lot of student cohort the course has had, and all I can say is they're doing an amazing job
They offer real, employable skills, as well as networking events from year one, which every event I have gone to has more and more companies wanting the software engineering students. Even from first year, getting a summer placement is doable and gives you commerical experience
It's not an easy ride, and you do have to put in the effort to recieve the benefits - like with most courses. But I would highly recommend this course to new students

This course offers a unique perspective in to the world of software development which allows for students to actually engage with with industry partners and gain valuable experience.
It has been a great experience to spend the past 3 years at the National Software Academy, where students are always made to feel at home whilst still gaining valuable experience that will help in the real world.

Brilliant degree for developing a new generation of Software Engineers that are business and office ready. Great lecturers and a very dynamic course willing to change and adapt as the software industry does - highly recommend to students and businesses looking for great, agile graduates

I studied a year of CS prior to studying at the NSA and now find myself graduating from the NSA in a few weeks and must say that changing to the Applied Software Engineering BSc was one of the best choices I have made. Immediately I felt the hands-on teaching approach resonated with me more as opposed to the more theoretical approach you would typically find in CS degrees. You are literally on the laptop doing something all the time. Moreover, the industry project-phases are probably the pinnacle of this course and you really get value out of them; these projects occur once / twice a year for a duration of 4-10 weeks (based on year) where you as a student work together with real clients in an Agile approach on real projects using suitable technology/software to address the client’s problem situation. ASE is an advanced degree that prepares you for your future job in a consistent practical manner. However, It’s not easy, you should be prepared to spend hours and hours behind a monitor hacking away at websites, mobile apps, complex features and so on. If you’re into all of the above, apply!
