Oscar, our big friendly Rottweiler needed emergency treatment at the weekend. In what can be a very emotional time for pet parents, the reception staff were very welcoming and the lady vet was exceptionally kind and caring towards our boy. He was relaxed and happy during his treatment and I can't thank and praise Vets Now enough. In our hour of need they were wonderful.

Had to take my dog for some treatment on a Sunday. I have vets now a call, had an appointment booked in minutes, and treatment was very quick after I arrived. Bit pricey. But all in all a very good service and experience for me and the dog.

We had to visit Vets Now Emergency in Edinburgh two weeks ago as our cat was seriously ill and took a turn for the worst. The receptionist was so helpful on the phone and made sure we knew where to go. When we arrived at the vets we were greeted by Scott Walker the vet who examined Tigger and after a thorough examination it was decided that there was nothing that could be done for him so although it was a very hard decision, it was agreed by my wife and myself and Scott to sadly put Tigger to sleep. Scott explained the whole procedure to us and made us feel comfortable with what we were about to do and gave us time to say our goodbyes to Tigger who had been with us for over 16 years. We both have to say how caring Scott was and the nurse on duty and they made a harrowing experience as painless as possible. We would both like to thank Vets Now Emergency Edinburgh through this experience e and for their condolences after the loss of our cat Tigger.

I was extremely grief stricken when the vet told me that my cat had cancer and would have to. Be put to sleep.
The staff and vet were very kind, empathetic and professional.
Although it was a very difficult experience it was made easier by your wonderful staff.

Amazing service at Vetsnow Edinburgh. A massive thank you to vet Liz, who took care of our Dog and us, her caring manner was very reassuring. Also the nurses and reception staff excellent service and customer care

Out of ours service who were so kind & knowledgeable when I returned to find my 2yr old BSH had died whilst I had been out. Like any pet owner who finds themselves in this situation, I was devastated, confused, furiously angry & back to devastated in 5second increments. The vets were so patient, gently took my baby from my arms & proceeded to answer my myriad of questions as best they could, sharing their own stories to demonstrate that whilst uncommon, this can happen to perfectly healthy animals who hours before were showing no sign of illness. In addition, Ravi was cremated & back at home within a week which was all organised via Vets Now too. All to say, a huge thanks to Vets Now. Whilst my own vet wasn’t available at this time on a Sat night, I don’t doubt that I the care & attention I received that night would have been any better.

We attended vets now on Christmas morning, with a very poorly pup after major surgery 2 weeks prior. The staff were excellent from the reception to Rebecca the vet , who was fantastic with our boy . So knowledgeable and caring . Highly recommend
M. C.
My wee dog Cooper was very poorly but thanks to your prompt attention and care is now improving. Thank you for your care and for also being on the end of phone to keep us updated on his condition.

I have never had extremely serious emergencies, but everyone here was nice. I find the vets here are somewhat more relaxed and chill than my regular vet.

I was very impressed with the service of Vets Now when I had an issue with my cat's feeding tube. The vet was very sympathetic and reassuring and took great care of my cat.

The team were great. They took Dylan through straightaway after he’d been hit by a car. They kept me informed throughout about what was happening.

Very professional and kind vet and team. Helped my little kitten recover from a nasty virus. He’s doing really well now.

Thank you for coming to the rescue to retrieve my sock from my GSD puppy. Quick and efficient and the staff that looked after her were lovely. It's always hard walking into an unknown vet. I was instantly at ease from the moment I walked through the door to be greeted by the staff at the desk. An expensive accident if using out of hours service, but money well spent knowing my puppy was in nice hands!

Vets Now is an excellent service. They even send a text with the address! One of my cats has an issue with cystitis if he is very stressed. When I got there, Vets Now were busy but the reception were very friendly and updated us with a delays. The vet was extremely thorough, time was really taken to examine my cat and discuss his issues I didn't feel we were rushed at all, and it felt like a service that really cared. I hope I don't need to go back anytime soon (I mean that in the nicest possible way!) but should he ever have a relapse, I am extremely confident Vets Now will look after him.
Edit: more recently, I had to take a very clumsy kitten who’d hurt his paw. Once again, excellent care, lovely staff and we were seen surprisingly quickly given how busy they were. Thank you again, your care and dedication is greatly appreciated

Nobody ever wants to have to use an emergency vet but I'm most glad that Vets Now is my local e-vet. My dog was vomiting blood a few months ago and the team at Vets Now looked after my dog and brought him back to good health. The lady on the phone, the reception staff and the vet were all fantastic and so sympathetic. Highly recommend Vets Now and they helped us during a worrying time. Thank you so so much. You guys are awesome.

We had a scary evening where our dog wasn’t opening her mouth and drooling a lot. We took her in and the staff were so friendly and caring. The vet (whose name I didn’t catch) was the best we’ve seen. Our dog can get nervous at the vets due to past experiences and she gave her space to move around and escape when she needed to. We had the whole reception area to ourselves so we used that. The vet didn’t hold her down or force anything like others have which is what’s caused our dog to be nervous. She ended by tossing lots of treats to her so that our dog was happy wagging her tail when we left. I even asked if the vet ever does daytime/non emergencies because I would love to have such a caring and knowledgeable vet for our nervous dog all the time!!

My cat Oreo was transferred to Vets Now for an overnight stay. He was very poorly when he arrived and was taken in straight away. The nurse that took him was extremely caring and helpful. The vet was very busy but phoned me to explain Oreo's care plan. I rang again in the morning and the vet was happy to give me an update. When I collected Oreo he had improved alot under their care and I was very touched by how deeply staff cared for him. Thank you so much Vets Now.

Fantastic service!
Lovely, caring staff looked after our poorly little dog, treated her and brought her back to us with her tail wagging.
Gave us clear instructions for her medicine and how to look after her until she’s better.
Thank you so much!

They showed such care and compassion for my dog, who unfortunately was so ill he had to be put to sleep. They gave us time to say good bye and let us make all the decisions at our own pace. The after care was also shown with kindness and compassion they arranged his cremation and called us when his ashes were ready to come home. We also received a beautiful card with forgot me not seeds to plant in the garden. The staff were kind and very caring.
L. B.
vets now were very kind during my visit. they explained all options and there was no pressure upon our decision. unfortunately we decided to have our pet put to sleep this was done with compassion and dignity it is never a easy decision to make and all staff were very supportive. I would like to thank all the staff for the care they gave our little otto and the lovely card and forget me not seeds was a kind thought.
S. F.
Absolutely brilliant staff, so caring and just want to do the very best they can for every animal and their owners.
I had an emergency appointment on Sunday, they were soooo busy but they continued to give 100% and explain and apologise for the waiting times.
My cat was assessed, different treatment options discussed, and follow up care advice given.
Thanks so much guys

Vets Now did a fantastic job, they were incredibly supportive and understanding in a very difficult time when I had to say goodbye to my cat. They gave me all the time I needed and they meant so much to me. Thank you for all your support and for looking after him so well.
A. J.
Absolutely wonderful service. Brought my cat in around midnight and thought I was about to lose her. The team was amazing and took very good care of her. Wasn't able to come in and be with my cat due to covid restrictions ,which was heartbreaking ,but I understand the rule is in place to keep the staff as safe as possible. Was given an estimate of how much her treatment will cost ,and Doctor was great at keeping me updated about treatment over the phone.
Thank you for your care and compassion.
S. R.
Was seen very quickly and my pet bird is much better! But the prices are ridiculous but I know this is standard with all vets sadly ☹️ luckily we had savings we could use but God knows what we would have done if we didn't have that money available.
H. S.
Staff were lovely and explained everything about my cats treatment clearly, gave me time for questions and put me at ease during a stressful time
S. D.
Vets Now were great when we needed to put our furbaby in for an overnight stay due to a bad infection. They made sure we were fully informed and really cared for our staffy.
E. T.
Our vet on Thursday evening was attentive & lovely despite appearing to br the only vet on and therefore very busy.
L. M.
During an incredibly upsetting time, the staff were unbelievably kind and were so good with my dog that it really helped put my mind at rest. She received the most amazing Care and is back home with us enjoying her life x
A. S.
The staff were wonderful & very supportive with us they were very caring ❤ would recommend them thank-you to all the staff for there support

Great and quick help. I used both telephone service and in person visit with my rat. Very nice and caring staff. Prices out of hours can be a bit harsh, but it's understandable in current situation. Very professional treatment.
As to the experience itself: I wish there was actual bench with a bit of shelter for outside waiting as we live in Scotland and weather can be harsh. For all the people using taxis or public commute it's tricky to sit outside for hours. Or at least some wooden finish for the bit of that flower planter people sit on ;)
N. S.
Great service. Super friendly, vet and nurse receptionist, seen my boy at 2am no issues. Great work!
G. B.
Very compassionate service & caring at the point of losing our family pet.
R. D.
I was very impressed in the way my call was managed. I had reason to contact the out of hours vet with concerns about my dog.
From start to finish I was comforted by the way in which my call was dealt with.
I was created by Very friendly staff. My call was dealt with promptly and I was put thorough to a vet within a few minutes of my initial contact with the call handler/receptionist.
I would like to commend the professionalism of everyone I spoke too and thank them for their kind manner and their interest in my dogs welfare.
Many thanks
Robert & Mac

They saved a lot of my dog's health last night. Dog was in severe pain after 3 days of treatment from most clueless and money sucking vet in Mayfield Road BraidVet. This guys figured out what is wrong with him within 45 minutes, took care of him and finally reliefed him of the pain without stuffing him with pills, but finding the issue and stop it. I am very grateful for your yesterdays help, you most likely saved my dog last night. Amazing customer service as well, every step of the process was explained in details, there was no pouching to buy any of the additional services. Overall, we are extremely happy that we decided to visit your place, it may not be the absolute cheapest but you actually want to help people and their pets, unlike some other vets.
P. S. As a customer if you have an option, do not use BraidVet, absolutely shambolic place. Decision to not go to them but somewhere else might save your pet.
J. T.
They were very caring and looked after Lucy for the 36 hours she was there. First off they sent me instructions how to get there and parking was excellent. During Lucy's stay they kept me informed every step of the way.
I found everyone I dealt with very professional.

I was much more than satisfied with the care and treatment of my cat at Vets Now in Edinburgh. He was in over the weekend which was very helpful as it meant he could be observed and properly examined and appropriate investigations could be carried out. The vet phoned me several times over the weekend to advise me of his condition, her findings and also treatment options. She clearly cared very much about my cat.
A. R.
My cat unfortunately had to be put to sleep, I strongly suspected this would be the outcome as he had become gravely ill very quickly. The staff were so sympathetic and caring, the vet was very thorough and explained everything, every step of the way. Could not fault them. One week later I received a lovely handwritten card from the vets extending their condolences on the death of my beloved cat. A very thoughtful touch.
D. C.
I have to say these people are amazing in away I cannot describe. My experience showed me that not only dose ever person there truly care for animals they go above and beyond for them. I could never thank this team enough for what they did for me and my wee cat. They went beyond there work load and what they get paid to do, to take on my cat when she was losing her life and saved her. Night shift on the 26/2/21 you guys are amazing people thank you. Xo
I. S.
One of our cats had a very silly accident in the week. We cannot thank vets now enough for their speediness and care! Tommy suffers from being in the car and is usually so shy and shaken by the time we arrive. They went above and beyond to look after Tommy to the point it seemed like he loved his visit he was so chilled on the drive home! If you see this ladies who worked Monday night Tommy says thank you so much! He loved his little wash and lapped up the attention so thank you! ☺️

Short wait time at 9.45pm. Very thorough examination by the vet who listened carefully and asked relevant questions. Unfortunately, my 17 yr old cat had to be put to sleep (but this was evident to me from his condition), however the process was clearly and sensitively explained. Reception staff were also supportive afterwards. Lovely gesture to receive a card and forget-me-not seeds in the post a week later. Very happy with my experience here, except for having to say goodbye to my furry friend!
C. M.
Our cat had lacerated his tongue and we attended the emergency vet on a Sunday. The nurses and vets explained the need for surgery and also gave us an estimate of costs. They kept us informed throughout and explained the process for dealing with the insurance. All the staff were polite and professional and cared for our cat well.
K. S.
Had to take our Greyhound here tonight. Think I was in more of a mess about it than he was! The first time I have been here and they were amazing. Please don't hesitate to go if needed. Thank you so much for looking after my boy x
L. G.
Everyone was very calm, professional, sympathetic and empathic, at an extremely difficult and emotional time for us.
Our Border Collie had been taken ill very suddenly late one night. When we rang Vets Now, we were given all the information we needed in order to get to their surgery, and they also sent a text message with a link to their premises on a map.
Upon arrival, our dog was treated quickly and gently, but unfortunately, there was nothing they could do to save him. He was very weak, but they gave him enough pain relief to allow us lots of time and space to say our goodbyes.
There was nothing that could have improved this experience for us, but at the worst time possible we had a vet who was reassuring, calm and sympathetic, towards people she had never met (and a dog she had never treated) before, and that helped a lot.
A couple of days later, we received a sympathy card from Vets Now in the post, which also contained a packet of forget-me-not seeds to plant in memory of our beautiful dog, which was an unexpected, thoughtful, and very much appreciated touch.

Sadly, my cat passed away in February. They handled the situation respectfully and helped me through a truly difficult time. Great vet and when I'm ready to get another cat I will definitely be registering with them.
E. F.
Cannot thank the staff enough. They were brilliant with my dog and us. They were very professional and caring and kept us well informed before each stage of her treatment. At this impossible time l thank you so much you do a superb job.
B. R.
Helped my dog in an emergency situation when I was getting knocked back from other vets due to "complications due to covid" and being unable to get an unregistered emergency appointment to potentially save her life. The aftercare is sparsely explained though and the team seem more concerned about the cost of the treatment rather than helping the animal in the long term - it has been suggested to me on more than one occasion that leaving an emergency situation until the next day would be cheaper, disregarding the emergency status and focusing more on payment. I have no issue with paying as I am fully aware that expenses are occurred when owning a pet before I ever got my pets. I think it is a good thing that they have consession prices for those that need it for extra pets so that your treatment can be discounted. I always try to give a donation on top of my payment as the vet staff have always been great when actually treating my pets and my dogs aren't afraid of visitng as it's made to be pleasant for them. Unsure if it's the reception or the vet that is more concerned about the price than the animal, I understand people may take advantage of their help but it the cost shouldn't be priority. Overall the vets are great at their job and have made sure my pets are comfortable at all times.

We.arrived on a Sunday evening with our poorly cat in a somewhat distressed state. All the staff showed compassion, care and professionalism. What can I say an excellent experience at a difficult time. Thank you so much.
C. I.
Visited here on Friday evening with my dog Bronte, the care and attention my dog received was amazing. The vet was very good and explained everything that she was going to do. Thank you you saved my dog that night.
L. F.
Had to take my very I’ll girl here on Saturday evening receptionists we’re all very helpful very kind and lovely the Vet I seen was amazing knew what she was doing treated my girl very well indeed thank you to all at Vets for Pets .
P. S.
The team at Vets Now could not have been nicer on the day my little Molly was put to sleep. They were professional, compassionate and treated my wee one with respect. A lovely, welcome touch was later receiving a condolences card with forget-me-not seeds to plant in memory of my pet. Thank you for making a very sad day more bearable.
P. T.
Had to wait 30 mins to be seen but vet was apologetic. Looked over our cat thoroughly. Advised needed to be kept in over night as not sure what was wrong but fever high and needing help to reduce this. Did not feel wholly confident in vet.
Took long time to work out estimate of costs for this. Very high cost of £700+.
Diagnosis in morning vague.
Was asked to take our cat to own vet at 8am who was much more relaxed about problem and more confirm dent to diagnose an abscess, plus only charged £120 for whole day's care and medication.
Great to have a 24 hr service but ridiculously expensive when folk like us don't have pet insurance!!
J. M.
So welcoming and warm! Separate waiting rooms for cats and dogs foo which was helpful. The vet was amazing and so helpful.
H. B.
First time I’ve had to visit. My daughter and her boyfriend were worried about their hamster and we were sent here as out of hours. They haven’t much money so asked me to help. Shocker of a bill £127 to give a hamster an injection. I understand it’s expensive to provide out of hours but I still think it was eye watering. They were very nice though and the vet seemed to be very knowledgeable and good advice. I hope the hamster lives a long life after this.
C. K.
Wonderful, caring service given to my cat who had an abcess in need of emergency treatment. Vet gave me a thorough summary of treatment that had been carried out together with next steps. Would thoroughly recommend.
A. O.
Great team. From the girl who spoke to me on the phone to book the appointment, to the vet (Dr. Richard) who treated my dog with respect and efficiency at 11pm, making us feel a bit more calm about the fact that our dog's snout was becoming really quite similar to the Michelin man's face. Definitely recommend this place. Our dog's condition was truly well managed.
L. A.
Wonderful sympathetic caring staff on a very difficult sad evening for us. Thank you so much for your kind empathetic care for us and our beloved pet.
A.
Really good service and kind people. The only thing why is 4 not 5 starts -I wish we knew that we cannot be with our dog when they put him to sleep... I just wish we said our goodbye before we handed him over. We were offered that he will be brought outside but he was in too much pain for us to do it... just please make people aware of that restriction...
R. D.
Very kind staff and efficient service - thank you very much.
S. H.
Contacted Vets Now for the first time the other night when my border collie became very acutely unwell. All the staff were so friendly and efficient. It’s a really great service and we wouldn’t hesitate to contact them again if we needed to in future!
F. B.
Amazing care, lovely vet's, helpful and understanding.

We had to call VetsNow for an emergency vet appointment for pur cat and the call handler at the end of the line was very reassuring and helpful, making sure that we had all the information we needed to get to the nearest vet. The lady even gave the vets an approximate time of when we'd arrive. When we got to the vet hospital, the nurses and vet were very kind and supportive, taking great care of our grumbling and vocal cat, and giving us as much information about his condition as they could.
I couldn't thank the call handler, nurses and vet enough for taking such great care of our Tigger, they have been fantastic and done as much as they could to make him as comfortable during his overnight stay as they could.
J. S.
My beautiful Lola was treated like the princess she was - treated with respect and kindness she deserved 💗 thank you for the card and forget me not which will be planted beside her 💖
L. M.
I took my cat Phoebe who was not eating or drinking to VetsNow in Edinburgh on a Sunday morning. I was asked when I would be arriving and saw the vet almost right away. She examined Phoebe and found she had an enlarged kidney so she was admitted for further tests. Some blood tests found she was in kidney failure and a scan confirmed the kidney abnormality. The vet phoned me to look at options and although she was only 5 years old we decided on euthanasia as it seemed likely she had kidney cancer. When I went back into the clinic the vet explained the process including the options of cremation, very kindly and respectfully. I think she found the discussion almost as hard as I did and I welcomed this show of her humanity. Phoebe died in my arms which was very sad but I was glad she did not have to suffer a slow and miserable death from kidney failure. My thanks to all the staff in duty that day who were all extremely kind.
E. D.
Excellent service, great staff and very helpful. My dog was really stressed licking wound and biting through dog suit vet had given us. Sorted out in 20 mins with overnight back up if needed. Reasonably priced as I had dreaded what out of hours would cost
G. F.
We were given promt attention after our dog had been injured in an attack from another dog . We were also given the appropriate advice and medication for her after care.we are very thankful for the attention we received.
C. D.
We are very greatful too the two members of staff that were on shift when we brought our beloved dog Bailey in, who unfortunately we had to put to sleep. They were very respectful, caring and kind at a very difficult time for us. We decided to have Bailey cremated and brought back to us, which was all arranged and done with the up most respect. Thank you to everybody involved 🐶
K. N.
Were seen to immediately we got there. Everyone very kind and considerate.

My beautiful fur boy suddenly became very ill. I rushed him down to Vets Now in Edinburgh where they took him in the minute I arrived. Unfortunately he was seriously ill and could not be saved. He had to be euthanized which was devastating for me. They were so kind and made such a difficult time easier by allowing me as much time as I needed to say goodbye to him before he passed to Rainbow Bridge.
S. C.
Unfortunately my wee fur ball Ash had came to the end of his life and I had to use the services of Vets Now. The staff were wonderful, empathetic and professional. I am so grateful that you allowed me to be with my wee man in his last moments. X
K. M.
Professional, courteous, and among the best in the business. It's a shame that some people will complain about pricing (animal owners should have insurance) as these vets are underappreciated, incredibly qualified to manage emergency critical medicine and surgery, and are working into the dead of the night to provide that life-saving care. Our visit here left me with an impression of a staff that deserves to be recognised for excellency.
J. D.
We received the best care for our cat, Mr T, at the weekend. He had a horrendous accident and had to get his tail amputated 😔
They kept us up to date as to how he was and did a great job on his tail. Brilliant.
F. M.
We experienced the sudden collapse of a very young and dearly loved hamster a fortnight ago. We rushed Little Bertie to the emergency out of hours service where the vet and nurses could not have been kinder or more sensitive. Bertie had congenital heart disease - now apparently afflicting more and more hamsters through mass and inbreeding - the very sad decision had to be taken to put him to sleep. It was very quick and he clearly did not suffer. Afterwards, we were shown into a room where we had the privacy to stay with Bertie for as long as we wanted. We appreciated all the professionalism and kindness from the team at Hutchinson Crossway, Edinburgh at a sad time for us.
M. T.
Friendly and understanding staff who made a terrible situation a wee bit easier.
G. F.
The vets and vet nurses were incredible, got an online consultation which was fantastic to speak to a vet but was recommended we seek treatment.
The service was 5☆ and I can't thank the team enough. 24h 7days a week
J. A.
Lollie was treated quickly and perfectly.
Her drop off and pick up were fully COVID-safe.
Happy dog & anxious owners now all snuggled on the sofa together 😊
L. T.
My cat was not the best patient but they were absolutely lovely and kind— with me and my girl.
H. G.
Thank you so much for taking care of our dog when we rushed him in, blue and struggling to breathe after a sudden anaphylactic reaction. Thank you too for keeping us updated throughout the afternoon and evening, and explaining everything so clearly. You saved his life and we're so grateful.
K. C.
Wonderful people who cared for our dog, and then were very kind to us in the days following his passing.
It would be a bonus if you considered removing animal’s name tags and collars to return to the owners.
A. B.
My cat was sadly hit by a car and was too badly hurt to help. Lisa was on shift on the sunday, it was one of the worst days ive experienced. Lisa was really nice, caring and helped us the best she could. Receiving a nice thoughtful card days after was a nice touch too. Thanks for trying to help my boy.
C. A.
Very happy with the way my out of hours visit to the surgery was handled. Most of it was done at arms length due to covid restrictions but even then it was all handled professionally.
c. j.
Our beloved cat, Teeny, took seriously ill. As a result we contacted the emergency Vets, who were yourselves, said to take Teeny up to the surgery, which we did. The way Teeny and us were treated was very compassionate and with sympathy as Teeny had passed away. We would like to pass on our thanks to the vetvonoduty and thetreceptionist for the treatment of ourselves and our beloved girl Teeny.
Christine and Neil Jones.

Brilliant service; very grateful for the quick turnaround, professional and friendly advice. Provided peace of mind and spot on treatment at a stressful time. Thank you for making my little canine pal all better!
G. B.
Very expensive out of hours. In for fifteen minutes, medication cost £20 but bill was still over £240. I was so worried I would have paid anything at the time but won't be going back there - several friends have all said I was mad to pay that price and their OOH prices where they go are more affordable.
M. G.
Very professional and our beloved Luca treated with kindness and respect. Staff were excellent considering that we arrived at midnight on Christmas eve. Thank you
K. A.
Vets Now took good care of Rosie during her visit. She had a through checkup, only hissed twice (which is great for her) and got an injection to help.
M. Z.
I recommend to everyone who needs emergency help for your beloved pet. High quality, great standard and lovely reception staff.
P. S.
Friendly staff, put us at ease and kept us well informed when our cat took ill suddenly over a weekend. He's thankfully made a full recovery now.

Emergency vet , Great service, very informative. Great polite and understanding staff.
I hope I never have to use there service again .

I know some vets don't take rats seriously but the vet I saw was so gentle and my rat was very comfortable with her. Great emergency service at 11pm.
A. J. S.

The vets did a fantastic job looking after my cat after he was injured outdoors. Professional, friendly and caring.

I appreciated the vet explaining to me very clearly my pet's prognosis, it made a difficult decision a lot easier to make

I was seen quickly with my cat,she was treated there and then, was expensive but was also urgent so knowing she was treated and had answers was more important
R. R.
Very happy with the service but I that I would have got antibiotics for my dog I had to go to the vet in the morning
L. K.
Excellent care given to both Thea and myself! A very difficult night but the team were incredibly caring. Thank you again.

The staff at Vets Now were amazing when our German Shepherd suffered full a torsion on Boxing Day. They took her in to a surgery the minute we arrived to administer something to make her more comfortable. The vet who looked after her was very considerate, caring and gentle. She advised that we were in an emergency situation and had to act quickly. However, she asked permission to perform X-rays prior to surgery to ascertain exactly what she was dealing with. The X-rays showed further complications in the form of a tumour on the spleen and asked what we wanted her to do. After a short discussion we decided that surgery was appropriate given that our dog was 10 years old with a splenic tumour. We agreed that we had to let her go. The vet agreed with our decision and was very considerate. She showed us to another room that was quiet and left us with our dog for a while to allow us to say our goodbyes. She then carefully administered the final injection and our beautiful dog was soon asleep. There was no compulsion to pay or to do anything else. We were allowed to leave and go home. No one asked for a credit card or any details. We were asked to call the surgery when we felt like it to pay for the vets consultation and the drugs administered. All in all we were very happy with the way we and our dog were treated. Everyone was very kind and understanding and we would highly recommend the surgery.

I had believed that I had given my dog a larger dose of loxicon than I should so needed advice. I spoke to a couple of people before speaking to a vet which is what I wanted but I had to answer a number of detail questions before getting through, minor details which could have been sorted out later. I was reassured by the vet that all was ok. It took far less time to have that conversation than it had answering all the
identity questions which was so frustrating at the time, I needed help not asked irrelevant details.
