Staff and students here were amazing help when I had to bring my dog, Angus, in after he was attacked by an off lead lab. He's healing up well now and we're incredibly grateful to everyone there. Staff explained everything to us clearly, and were friendly and helpful throughout.

Myself and my family would like to say a huge thank you from the bottom of our hearts to the staff at Glasgow University Vet School Small Animal Hospital for saving my fur babies life. Ted became really unwell very quickly with lethargy, off his food and struggling to breathe. He collapsed in the house resulting in me contacting my vet who very quickly came out to see Ted. They took him to the surgery to do blood tests and various other procedures but we were told the devastating news that he had something called IMHA, a condition where his own immune system starts attacking his red blood cells causing severe anaemia, his liver leaking bile into his system and very pale gums. We were told that it would be touch and go for the next few hours as they had to give him steroids and a blood transfusion and hope this would help. Well the next week has been the longest week of my life wondering if he would pull through and waiting for the morning phone call from the hospital for an update on his condition. With the expertise and care of the hospital staff ted improved every day and had blood taken yesterday to see if his red blood cells were starting to regenerate and I’m over the moon that they are nearly at the normal level. I’m sorry for the long post but I want pet owners to be aware of this life treating disease and with this information hope to save some other dogs that could be showing signs of this disease. Thank you again to every single member of the internal medicine department who were involved with the care of ted. You are all wonderful people. Xx

I had my Kali up to the out of hours service as she was being sick and whining as if in pain, taken straight away and kept up to date while we were waiting for her. They sent a report through to my own vet which was there in the morning for us when we called as promised. In a worrying time for us they were friendly and reliable and offered lots of reassurance. Its never an easy call to decide to go there but it's absolutely worth it to have the piece of mind that my dog will be ok, I would certainly recommend that anyone worrying about a pet after hours contacts them, even just for reassurance.

Munro was at death’s door when we had to bring him here and with the compassion, love and training they saved his life . Munro can now be a normal Golden cocker spaniel again . Amazing service to have in Glasgow for our pets. My dog needed shoulder surgery recently. All staff were extremely helpful, efficient & professional. Procedure was fully explained at initial consultation, he attended for surgery & was looked after overnight, & we were given regular updates. Fantastic aftercare service too, with full instructions given to follow for my dogs recovery. Luther much prefers his soft collar to the cone & huge thanks to all involved. Service is 24/7 & 1st class.

Our 9 year old chow chow is currently being treated for a chronic disc in his spine. The staff have been very patient and shown themselves as knowledgeable and talked us through all possible options. I took my persian cat Coco into the hospital with a very sore eye. He was seen by George who took his time examining him and he explained everything as he went along. It turned out Coco had an eye ulcer that had become infected and I was frightened he would lose his eye. After a few visits and being reassured by George he is on the mend. I can't thank him and the staff enough. Wonderful treatment.

We recently had to admit one of our docs for complicated surgery to fix a problem with her back and she has been well taken care of. They understand and help you with insurance claims as the surgery can be very expensive.

We had to take our dog here on Boxing day for emergency treatment. The vet was excellent. I was worried that because I couldn't be with my dog due to Corona protocol that he would be scared etc but the vet was so lovely I knew he was in the safest caring hands. I had to take a pomeranian in for a suspected dislocated shoulder. They were great with him, and even better with me. The vet took the time, both at drop off and at pick up, to explain fully what was happening. She even showed me xrays of the shoulder. Very good vet I would recommend.

Excellent care for both my cocker spaniels, oncology team were fantastic cannot rate them highly enough. Emergency care for both my dogs was exceptional. Everyone working within the hospital really care about all the animals who attend. When my dogs required to be admitted for inpatient treatment the nurses and vets were excellent and fully explained every procedure and provided regular detailed updates. I cannot thank everyone enough for the care both my dogs Rhys and Darcy received in recent months.

The University of Glasgow Small Animal Hospital. Is in my opinion the best of the best. Caring, compassionate and respectful. I don't want any of my pets to ever be in need of veterinary care but if they need to go anywhere. Then this is the best place.

Amazing service! I had a small emergency with my budgie at 4am, called here for advice. I got through within seconds, the receptionist was lovely and I was passed on to a vet within minutes. The vet was very helpful and put my worry at ease. Highly recommend these guys.

Gizmo still has his eye due to the care and treatment of the people here. So up to now he has his eye. The opthalmic specialists are amazing caring people. Took my 13 week old puppy in as an emergency, the reception staff , nurses and vets were all amazing from the minute we walked through the door not only for the fact they saved my little puppies life but they were very attentive to me also as they could see how upset I was. My puppy was in intensive care for 3 days, the staff would phone me every morning to give me an update and were happy for me to phone at any time . Inside is immaculate and there are private rooms available for consultations where I was allowed to come and visit her and stay as long as I wanted. It was my first visit and as I drove in I went through the barrier and spent a good 15 minutes trying to find the small animal hospital which was on the right before the barrier so had to drive bk through as it wasn't very well signposted, my only criticism is that it could do with a bigger , more prominent sign, if you don't know where you are going once you go through the barrier it is like a maze.

Staff were very polite and welcoming. Surgery was performed quickly and pet has recovered well. Updates following surgery in terms of aftercare were poor and I had difficulty getting through to speak to a staff member involved in my pets care. Called numerous times without success. Therefore lost two stars for communication.

Although it's rarely a pleasant experience having to take your pet to the vets, I couldn't have asked for a better service by all the staff. They saved the life of one of our dogs and sadly when we lost our other, they took care of everything at the time when we would have been unable to do so. I hope to never need their services again but wish them only the best.

They looked after our dog who had stage 2 cancer we can't get insurance so it's really expensive, we had to keep our dog in over Christmas and new year for 5 weeks we could not visit because it took days for her to settle when we left, but the vets called everyday to let us know how she was getting on and she is an outpatient now and we have scince found out that she has made lots of friends with the staff who fell in love with her so would recommend to anyone, they really love the animals they are taking care off.

I've had great experiences here with my dog. It was the first time I had visited a vet where I felt it was an actual medical consultation. The specialist care my dog received was superb and he is now absolutely fine.

I was here at the University Of Glasgow Vet Hospital as my partners Labrador was very ill. They are very welcoming and understanding and took lovely care of us from start to finish. The University grounds are huge and I would reccomend taking a walk along the banks of the river Kelvin if you are ever there.

The vets are great and I would give them 5 stars: friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, explain everything and seem to genuinely care. However getting through on the phone is practically impossible and I would give no stars if I could. I have never waited less than 20 minutes for someone to answer the phone. I'm not taking about waiting for the vet, I mean for the phone to be actually picked up. I was once on hold waiting for someone to answer for nearly an hour, when the call was finally picked up and immediately disconnected. Try to get the vet's email address when you see someone so you can actually get in touch again.

Used out of hours for emergency. The staff are amazing - trainees, qualified, receptionists and nurses clearly love animals. Very knowledgeable and thorough. Consultation fee was £140 ish but OMG well worth It. I arrived in tears but i left smiling and reassured. And my kitten, Phoebe, was great.

This is one of the only two places available if you have a pet and you need urgent care. But despite being a university hospital with mostly students getting trained, they run it like a business. The vets like any other place can be good or average but they do rake up the bills. If you are not insured it may not be the best place that you can afford. The administration is generally lost as well. I am giving low star rating because the treatments are not on point and you my end up with charges for sticking a needle and taking it out etc. So instead of every procedure, every step has a cost to it.

Our little dog needed an operation to have a piece of bone removed from her front left leg. The surgeon was great as was everyone we felt with. The hospital is fantastic and the people we spoke to were as pleased as we were. You see a mix of dogs and cats with alsorts of ops having been done to them. I would say to anyone do ever be afraid if your sent there with your pet it's five star service for our furry friends.

We had a wee Romanian rescue dog who was referred to Dr. Peplinski Opthamologist with an eye problem, he immediatly diagnosed the cause of her detached retina as due to parasitic disease. Tests confirmed that our wèe soul had not one but a least 3 diseases we were told by her rescuers that she had tested negative for, before travel to Uk. The ongoing investigations and treatment plan was overseen by Dr Trish Ward. Trish has amazing communication skills and compassion towards us and Freya. The treatment and care received from the team at SAH. Glasgow was absolutely outstanding and we will never forget this. I want to take this opportunity to spread the word that anyone bringing in, or rescuing dogs and cats from abroad,discusses with their Vet about retesting for things like Heart Worms, Leishmaniasis, Ehrilechia etc. even though you have been told tests were negative there are many reasons for 'false negatives' , this may save your pets life. Please, please pass in this information to rescues and anyone you know with an imported pet. It was too late for Freya and she died of complications of Heart Worms. Had we known from the Rescue about false negative tests we would have had her retested when we first got her. There are treatments for these diseases if they are got in time. On the phone at 12.10pm I was asked of Pepsi's symptoms and was advised to bring him in immediately as it was Sunday. 12.20pm I saw a normal cat alive but struggling to breathe. That wee Irish female vet is worthy of special praise in how she received both Pepsi and I. Pepsi unknown to me was critical and for a 10 year old lively cat that jumped up on door tops was unbelievable to see that within 6 hours a healthy cat was dead. He literally died in front of our eyes. Pepsi will live in OUR thoughts and dreams but perhaps "You" the future Vet may learn what has happened? Please! as I know this is now a learning case study. The fittest and liveliest cat of 3 died and yet vets "push" that we should use "obesiety biscuits". Oh how my other 2 "wee fat cats" need me. Ian.
