Reviews of Celia Hammond Animal Trust
P. M.
I'm delighted to write this review for the staff of Celia Hammond Clinic Canning Town. For so many times reception has treated me so adorable and doing their best for my pets needs. Yesterday my cat Cherry got neutered with the doctor Andrew. He gave me a call before go ahead with the proceed due to the fact that my cat had a funny heart beat. That call was so sensible of him, I felt respected for giving me the right to know what the situation was. Everything went good and Cherry is completely fine. Thank you all for your efforts and professionalism.

If you’re not insured, and cannot afford the high veterinary bills then come here. Instead of paying £4k plus for an overnight stay with op we paid £250 without an overnight stay. They are lovely people here and had the privilege of meeting Celia Hammond herself. A totally different vibe from the vet we went to.
H. R.
Poppins was 5months and we’d moved to a 13th floor flat, she could not adjust and slowly start to lose her appetite and even started to pee around . I could not have given her to any other family as she needed expert care and company of other cats to get back up on speed.
I contacted Celia Hammond and straight away they took the responsibility and I took her to my nearest branch and had the honour of meeting “Celia Hammond” herself and really amazing women working in the branch herself protecting those cats that we can’t look after anymore.
Poppins has then been spayed, helped to gain her appetite back and would be carefully relocated in a home with other cats.
Thanks you Celia Hammond , I’ll always be a donor to this charity.

I took my cat Sheba to them on few occasions over the years. Sheba had a heart murmur from the beginning. She started coughing last September I took her and was asked to record it on video which I did they said it would be best to do a heart scan. It was supposed to be in October but they'll were so short of staff the scan was put back. I called again and it was still delayed. I was going to call again this week but Sheba died on Monday without ever having that scan. Heartbroken I took her to the surgery to arrange her cremation.

CHAT is a local animal charity i support that does fine work sheltering & rehoming stray cats and providing low cost vet care to both cats and dogs. I used them recently to vaccinate my kitten and they were very professional and efficient.
L. C.
First time here and the care from them is outstanding, they explained everything in detail with my dog ligament rupture..
After last review my dog had another acl ligament operation and then he caught a infection threw licking the wound when I wasn't looking, he had the best care ever not just from Manuel but the lady's at the front especially Mollie the care and compassion for our dogs is just outstanding and I will always be so grateful to them all.
C. S.
Very kind staff, very well run surgery, they operated on my cat very successfully, and looked after him very well in his hospital stay.they are hugely much cheaper than any vet practice for treatments, and seeing they are a charity, they are still run as a normal vet hospital would be run.highly recommend
S. P.
Can't fault these. Looked after our pets with the upmost kindness when they were in need and very reasonably priced.
r.
Customer service is trash, they turned down help for my kitten because he was not registered with them. Take long to pick up and the lady is very passive aggressive rude. The only thing here good is prices as I am unable to afford private vet clinic prices.
S. K.
It is charity organisation not the private vet! They are super busy saving hundreds cats from the street ! Celia saved my cat and took from me very little money compared to the private vets. Respect! ♥️

Having read the reviews I feel I should express why I gave 4 stars.
My dog was close to death, due to complications after surgery, I had to travel from Hertfordshire to London in the early hours 5am. I initially took her to a place in Watford but I won't go into that. When I got to Celia Hammond I was seen quickly and once she was taken in, the shock hit me; I burst into tears in an empty waiting room. A staff member, who had just arrived for work, asked no questions but instantly gave me comfort. My dog was kept in for 2 weeks and I called daily. OK so there were 2 grumpy /rude receptionists that I encountered over that time, however, the care and LOVE my dog received from the rest of the medical staff negated their existence. Considering the trauma my girl had gone through, she was always happy to return for the bandage change. I feel she feel in love with one young man there who took time to play as she was recovering during her stay.
Yes, the waiting area could do with a lick of paint but it's a charity! Maybe we, the pet owners, could address that! 🤔
The initial problem was caused by my private vet who has a pretty looking waiting room and comfy furniture, so the aesthetics weren't much use.
I'm not comfortable mentioning the outstanding staff by name, I don't want to embarrass anyone, but they are there, they do care and they don't try the hard sell for products you don't need.
I believe my beautiful dog would not be here if they weren't, so I thank you CH xxx
T. M.
Celia Hammond's Clinic provides a much needed service for animals, but Newham council are the villains, as they've made it a nightmare for older people and disabled to park close by
J. S.
Extra helpful!!! If not them my cat could be already dead. He fell down from the roof and another vet wanted to put him to sleep if we could not pay them 6000£!!!
I'm very happy and thankful for Celias Hammond help!!! Definitely recommend them to everybody. Finally there are doctors who don't look at the money but at health of your pet.
Thank you again! 💕💕💕
J. S.
I can’t believe people are on here leaving bad reviews for a Charity that has helped thousands of low income pet owners and saves the lives of countless animals each year.
Thank you Celia and team for all that you do 🐱
I. A.
Great service they looked after my cat....
Highly recommended operation could have cost me more than £4,000 recharge me under £500 I'm very grateful for this place they saved my cat and saved me a lot of money.. please support them as much as you can they really deserve it...👍🐈👏❤
E. B.
The care they show the animals is 2nd to none, they treat your pets as if they were their pets. Without the Celia hammond animal trust, there is no way we would have been able to afford our puppys surgery.
A. R.
Wonderful organisation, really good caring vets and they find homes for all these homeless cats! 🐈⬛🐈⬛🐱😻
M. B.
Adopted two beautiful cats from here .
Veterinary side is also very good! Saved my cats leg. I recommend them highly enough! You may have a bit of a wait but it comes with paying reduced vet cost.
K. M.
I took my beautiful cat to be neutered and the team at Celia Hammond we're fantastic I couldn't have asked for better.
A. C.
Fantastic were brilliant with my cat, can't thank them enough. Really good communication also! Highly recommend enough
K. M.
We could not be more grateful to Celia Hammond for taking our little baby on such short notice for emergency same day surgery. They not only charged us 75% less than we'd been quoted by our own vet (in the thousands) but they could see her that day which sadly our vet couldn't as they were fully booked. Could not recommend more and if you can afford it, please donate to such a worthy charity.
E. S.
What an amazing place! I want to say a big thank you to Angela, Patsy and the girls who have been looking after Kay, you all do an amazing job and are truly wonderful people! Thank you
L. L.
The treatment is 1st class but waited almost 3 hours for blood to be taken and results.
M. Y.
I have a rescue feral cat. Almost 2 years now. She's beautiful. She's still skittish occasionally but allows the odd stroking and loving. Gets on very well with other cats & Yorkie. Thank you to all the volunteers and vets for your excellent care and commitment.
M. K.
Great vet - Thank you for helping out our little cat who was struggling with severe cat flu/virus symptoms.
M. i.
Great, had 5 month kitten spayed here. V busy so felt little cramped..but staff were professional, kind and fast..didnt need to wait long. Dropped off kitten at 9am and got to pick her up for 3pm. See her stitches, neat and seems to be healing nicely.
One thing I would say is that I brought a cone for £4 it's one of those hard plastic cones, I think there should be more options such as soft cones as hard one was hard to put on and in the end didn't use it as kitten was not comfortable. But keeping in mind CH is a charity and theyre limited.
Thanks to the vets and team.
E. B.
We adopted 2 lovely cats from Celia Hammond in Canning Town and both Angela and Amanda were great! We had quick responses and were always kept in the loop. They were very thorough with checking we had the right home and lifestyle to suit the cats we adopted and once we had found the 2 cats to suit us they were really helpful with advice about food, routine, etc. Very reassuring as it let us know they wanted the best for their animals! If you're thinking of rehoming a pet then I would absolutely recommend coming here :) a wonderful experience!
D. M. (.
The store doesn't look great from the outside but from the inside it's full off very nice people that deeply care about helping animals. They visited our home to make sure it was suitable for a cat, and now we have a cute misstick at home!
V. P.
Nice people and friendly I take my cats there some times you have to wait a bit to long that could be changed if they try and sort it out a bit better I wouldn't go no were else I have adopted 2 girl kittens from celia Hammond they make sure they are going to a good home they also do home checks to make sure they are in a safe happy home the stuff are brilliant with your pets it's not far to travel for me I do highly recommend this veterinarian to any other place so if you want to adopt a lovely furbaby this is the place to go just like I did
M. A.
Extremely good with pricing and care. I have been to many vets by far Celia know their stuff. They are very over run and if you do have an appointment you might be waiting for a very long time to be seen.
Their stitching for wounds is amazing I had to go to another vets for emergency honestly it was horrendous even tho I asked for same stitching style as Celia and the wound opened up and now my cats wound is stapled and even that is not done properly.
If you do a planed visit Celia is the one.
N. R.
Could be better! I had an appointment at 12pm and my cat had been see at 1.50pm. Not busy but Staffs working very slowly. 2 customers left because that. No handwash antibacterial. Not cheap but if you have an emergency than its ok.
S. R.
All the Staff at celia hammond are amazing, my pup broke his elbow and no one had capacity to help him in or around my area, someone advised me to call celia hammond and they actually squeezed him in the next day and kept him over night. i cant thank you enough, the staff and the vet Manuel was absolutely amazing. very reasurring. Mollie the receptionist is an absolute angel. nothing is to much for her, definitely will be making a small donation when i can

Im posting this to say a very big thank you to the amazing staff at Celia Hammond Animal Trust.
Our Ruby is18 months old and we wanted to get her neutered.
We tried to take her to Vets for Pets in Beckton, there they told us she had a heart condition and without a scan first they would not do the neutering (£900).
The shear thought she has a heart condition was bad enough but the cost for the scan was outrageous.
Hence we we went to Celia Hammond Animal Trust.
The Staff there are so dedicated to the animals that i knew straight away she was in saff hands.
We took Ruby in on monday morning, knowing she may not be neutered due to the heart condition.
After a long day and waiting inpatiently, they told us due to some very serious emergencys she needed to wait until Tuesday.
So we left her with them for the night and the next day by 1pm we had a call saying she is all ready and they did do the neutering aswell.
The scan does show she has a problem with her heart.
With the right care and attention she can still live a happy life.
In short our hearts go out to eveyone who works and gives up there free time to help there Thank you Celia Hammond and the team of wonderful people you have with you. They are a credit to you and your work.i can't recommend you enough no matter how busy they are there here to help god bless you all.
Just a note the total cost.
I was so shocked how much cheaper they done everything.
I did also leave a donation to your trust aswell thank you again for everything
Alan Rixson & Svetlana Merescenkova

The best thing that happened to me, they helped me a lot with my dog, which was very bad, I thank you very much
H. S.
No sort of aftercare or follow up appointments for rabbits after their neuter which is quite concerning. Was only given one dose of pain relief. Completely understand they are busy etc. But when being told to pick the rabbit up at a certain time and having to sit there for 45 minutes without anyone telling me the reason was stressful.
J. K.
Adopted a cat, lovely people, very caring and professional

I cannot begin to express my gratitude for Celia Hammond Animal Trust. There is nothing more painful than losing a loved one, knowing you could have saved them had you had the money. A few days ago, I noticed my cat, Piper, who's kittens I was anxiously awaiting, was exuding something. Quick to worry I phoned the vet but was reassured that it was probably fine, and potentially her aborting her kittens. Worried and in denial, I hoped for it to be the former and continued with my day, my dad reassuring me that she was surely fine. The next day I noticed the leakage was redder in colour and immediately knew that something was badly wrong. Piper had a common and deadly uterine infection, pyometra, an illness that could potentially kill her in the short span of 4 days. I took the day off work and called vets in a panic trying to get them to fit me in. When I finally managed, terrified and racked with guilt, the consultation and one weeks worth of antibiotics came to £179. I was told she needed emergency surgery that would cost me a further £600, and of course, I had to get my other cat spayed. On the wrong end of my overdraft, I was confronted with the terrifying concept of losing her after just 8 short months together. The next day I made many calls, spending most of my morning on hold until my vet was able to refer me to Celia Hammond. Calling friends and family I managed to get £100 together which the organisation had allowed me to pay as a deposit until I got paid the next day. The vets were wonderful, and despite my unconventional payment juxtaposing with many posters plastered across the clinic asking clients to pay their bill, they trusted me to get them the money the next day. This to me, did not seem to be because I am particularly trustworthy or that my promise was made artfully, but because of the vets' dedication to and prioritisation of the animals. I knew that this allowance was because they needed to make sure Piper lived, that they valued her life, which without their care and dedication could have been lost. When looking into spaying my cats, I had seen that privately, it would cost me around £150 each. As someone who hasnt been able to afford replacement fillings for the past 3 years, this was a hard pill to swallow, and so I put it off until I had some money put aside. Having got in contact with Celia Hammond through Piper's referral, I asked if they were able to help my other cat, Billie as well. When I went in to pick him up the next morning, I prepared to fork out £300 for both his neuter and the rest of Pipers operation. My shock was tangible as I heard the receptionist say £179. I enquired about the procedures, which the receptonist read somewhat timidly, assuming I was complaining that the bill was too large. As I stared at her in disbelief, I asked for her to repeat herself once more before asking "so the neuter was only £20?"
Both of my cats are now home, safe, healthy and happy thanks to the amazing work done at the Celia Hammond Canning Town branch, and I cannot thank them enough for incredible, life changing work they do.

Absolutely brilliant staff and treatment of our dog, saved his life and we will be forever grateful. Highly recommended
P. M.
Great reliable service provided by caring veterinarian. My fur baby always comes home feeling better. The reason for 3/5 instead of 5 stars is that there is a particular female member of staff at reception who's communication (lack thereof) and attitude is the furthest thing from hospitable. With the understanding that these are trying times for everyone, the first time I encountered her personality, I took it in stride and overlooked it. However, again it repeated itself and thus it is the reason for my not so stellar review at present. It's a shame one bad apple can ruin the bunch as mentioned because the service recieved from Celia Hammond in itself has always been outstanding but I unfortunately do not tolerate disrespect.
A. B.
Really great. Our cat moved in the same day we contacted them and has taken over our house and our hearts
S. K.
I cannot recommend CHAT enough. They are compassionate professionals who offer a great service for pets and pet owners. All this at a fraction of private vet costs. Thank you so much for making my kitten's inoculations and other treatments so easy.
S. C.
I like Celia Hammond. How they care for our pets. And especially for those who cannot afford private vet bills
D. S.
Celia Hammond Trust does the most wonderful work in Cat and Dog rescue neutering and rehoming Celia and her staff work tirelessly with little reward, their vetinary charges are much lower than your average vet yet apparently some people still fail to pay the their bills.... We need this Trust to prosper so all our rescue pets can benefit from the wonderful care administered by these Angels. Please pay without delay.
A. B.
Hi all I don't normally write reviews but on this occasion it is necessary I do.
Celia hammond is truly AMAZING, a vet who actually cares for the animals and not just money.
We was quoted £5000 to operate on our cats broken leg by another vet, we was also told that if we want a cheaper option then we should consider amputation which will be around £1000, for me amputation was not a option at all, I was doing everything I can to raise the £5000 to get the operation done.
I was then told about Celia hammond by my brother in law.
After calling Celia hammond I was amazed how quickly they got the information from the other vets and gave us an operation date with it costing just under £1000.
The cat has had her operation and waiting on a follow up appointment.
I honestly can't thank you enough to Celia hammond for the amazing work they all do.
I just want to say this to all who is reading this, please please please if you get your pet treated by Celia hammond please pay your vet bill as those guys are amazing in what they do and need every penny to keep them going.
I am even thinking of giving regular donation to them if there is an option to do this.
Again Celia hammond thank you so much we really appreciate this.
Love you all from me and my family for the amazing work you all do. Xx

Absolutely amazing vets, every time I got the service is amazing and the staff show incredible passion towards their career and more importantly working with animals. Sometimes the wait can be long so do call up and book an appointment. They also do a lot for stray animals I sometimes call about stray cats I see and they do give very good advice and come around to see the stray.
R. H.
Without you guys my kitten Ben would have died. Thank you so much you don’t understand. He is my wold. For anyone reading this, this vet is the best and they will do the best for your pet. Thank you so much, you have saved (Ben Hooper). Forever grateful. 5 ⭐️ service. Thank you Debbie and the team.
A. Q.
Cat friendly safe place easy parking even on a busy main road. Don't forget plenty of places to munch
J. M.
Amazing place with amazing staff, I can't thank them enough for what they have done for my pet.
I will most certainly be setting up charity fundraisers for CHAT, they are needed now more than ever.
Thank you!!
G.
Am looking for full time work and was hit with a vet emergency I wasn't prepared for. These guys patched up my kitty really well on short notice. Hope to make a donation asap when I can afford to as these guys really do excellent work. You can tell they care about animals. Thanks again 💕💕

I have three cats and they have all attended the Celia Hammond Clinic for routine checks and vaccinations but have also needed to have medical care for sudden onset illnesses. I think the staff are wonderful. On the last occasion, my cat had sustained a deep wound to his flank. He needed anaesthetising, internal and external stitching. I went to collect the same day and he was ready to go, wearing a collar and with all the necessary meds. The cost is always fair and realistic and vets give an honest and unbiased opinion about the treatment being undertaken. I am constantly impressed by their professionalism and kindness. The reception staff are excellent too. This is an extremely busy practice, yes, you sometimes have to wait In the queue but we’ll worth it.
A. C.
Our concerns regarding a cat were dealt with quickly and efficiently.
J.
I adopted my little cat from Celia Hammond. I met Celia herself, and she is so dedicated, and really passionate about all the cats in her care. Wonderful experience, thank you to Patsy as well!
J. H.
Saved our dog's life!! We will be forever grateful for this place. Thank you so much. The people are lovely and actually love the animals. Our dog isn't a people person but being in here she warmed really quickly to the volunteers as they gave her time and love. So happy we were recommended!
O. w. (.
I seriously can not thank you guys enough. As a vet the most difficult part is despite I want to help animals and clients, financial issue always gets in the way.
You guys are so selfless, always keen to accept animals with cost concerns. Besides you do such an amazing job.
Last night I have to refer a kitten who’s owners can not afford treatments with us... I was in tears because without treatment he will no doubt pass away very quickly... literally you guys are my last straw. Thank you so much Rachel, Christine and all staff for being so helpful. I am truly lucky to have you on my side.
K. W.
These people are worth their weight in gold, incredibly efficient and knowledgeable but very very helpful.
They treat your pets like family!.
Many rspca places have closed during Covid, please help support your animal care places!! 👍🏻
D. V.
What an amazing rescue and resource.
G. W.
Very kind and generous vets and staff. Brilliant people doing great work. Always helpful.
G. K.
An amazing charity that is greatly underfunded and massively under pressure from people in need of its services. Be prepared to wait to see a vet, what people don't understand is that private vets refer emergency situations to them every day and they are also dealing with their own rescue animals, emergency operations and then consultations. The vets work very hard and long hours and are very knowledgeable about conditions private vets struggle with. Always willing to give animals a chance. Very helpful to private rescuers throughout London. You will need to agree to have your animal neutered to be seen at this vets and there is a very good reason, the cat population and the dog population are out of control and breeding is a big issue. Chat are under enough pressure without added animals. Please ignore negative comments and give them a chance. Very affordable
I. S.
We are so lucky to have this amazing charity (neutering clinic) in our local area! They do an incredible job helping animals day in and day out.
The staff are amazing! Even though they are always busy and under pressure, they help everyone with a professional attitude and a smile on their face. They genuinely care about the animals welfare.
Very affordable, which is so helpful to those on low income.
S. V. D. B.
My dog Buda would have died without there help. They are very professional and the staff are great! Thanks guys!
N. G.
Most recently with a sad situation of a beloved pet being fatally injured, the experienced staff were both empathetic and efficient - on the out of hours emergency line, the receptionist and veterinary staff who had to declare the end.
We’ve had cats from Celia Hammond, done the chipping, neutering, etc and been impressed by the way the charity seems genuinely setup to serve the community and care for animals.
In Lewisham or Canning Town they should be your go-to when considering a rescue animal or veterinary services. The prices are also surprisingly good.
H. I.
Had my cat neutered here. The service was efficient and the procedure was far cheaper than any of the pet shops I called. They provided after care and also a plastic collar in case she tried to bite/lick the wound. Difficult to get through to them initially but would definitely recommend if you want to have your cat neutered.
S. S.
So this is a great adoption center. If you are using their vet service, here are some notes-
They are much cheaper then let's say vets for pets. If you haven't taken out pet insurance (and you really really should) this would be your next best option.
They do not have a full range of services through as a normal vet eg chemo, certain products etc.
And these guys are incredibly stretched. Like, overwhelmingly so. They could really do with more staff and consulting rooms but we as the public would really need to put alot more donations their way.
My cat passed away from cancer unfortunately, we used Dignity crematorium as we didn't want our kitty taken away with clinical waste.
D. T.
They helped my dog a lot. Helpful ,very nice and friendly staff. Always at our little friends service.
P. L.
I got my rescue cat from here, quite a few years back, and think they do fantastic work.
I ran a charity race for them last year, and would choose this charity over many for my next event.
More recently I took my dog there, after having a bad experience at a well known vet and they were brilliant. They have only the animals interest at heart. It is not about money, which unfortunately seems to be the case in some places.
The trust goes magnificent work.
T. B.
My senior staffy has been attending Celia Hammond Canning Town branch since February 2020 when he broke his rear Knee and he ended up having full TPLO surgery and their vet surgeon specialist Manuel is an absolute diamond ..the nicest and kindest caring person I have met in a long long time ..sadly my dog miniscu broke on the same leg several weeks into his TPLO recovery and again Manuel was there for him ..both surgeries successful and his last set of stitches were removed on thursday by Manuel..he really has been there every single step of this surgical journey.
Caring staff there too..great receptionists who answer your queries ..they call you back if they say they will ..meds posted to me as I live 48miles away.which was a tremendous help ..they really do help you, Molly has dealt with me a few times and shes lovely to chat with and most helpful, as they all are there. I fully recommend Celia Hammond in Canning Town ..they genuinely do care..they are considerably cheaper than a private vets, yet you still get quality care. ..even through the pandemic of Covid19 they have been stretched themselves but still been brilliant with us .. Thank you all so very much from me and Quarry says "Woof woof 😊" .
N. T.
These are the most dedicated vets I've ever known. I don't know where I'd be if it hadn't been for them giving the care they have for my pooch. I certainly would not have been able to afford the care else where. If I ever win the lottery I will be giving most of it to them. Such amazing staff and they are so dedicated to the welfare of animals.
I love you guys x
A.
Extremely cheap compared to other vets, if you are on a tight budget, highly recommend it!
However, the vet had mistaken cancer with "an upset stomach" when I brought my cat in. So be very specific when explaining your pets symptoms and your concerns.
The waiting is quite long, and the lady at reception (with short red hair) does have an attitude. I understand working with the public can be stressful, however as they ask us to "please respect us", I expect the same treatment from them.
Apart from the extremely rude lady at reception, it is a great vet for someone on a budget that cannot afford very expensive vets.
S. N.
Beware of animals, HUMANIZED! My 5 month old kitten was neutered by this NGO and I just want to thank you for everything! Gratitude for so much! ❤❤

Lovely caring people. passionately looking after pets, but also equally providing for the feral and abandoned that can't pay.
I have copied this from their website.

Friendly staff. Offers a good price for all operations. Feel confident leaving my cat with them. Highly recommend these vets.

It warms my heart to see people today continually putting the needs of these beautiful animals first. Cats are vulnerable and trusting animals and are reliant on us for their protection and their self-preservation. Keep up the good work that you are doing!

Fantastic service, I've been using them for years, for the various pets we have had. They take great care of all the animals in their care. Highly recommend! Keep up the good work!
G. F.
The vets are fantastic. I took my cat there today for a heart scan due to heart murmur and they found out the problem and gave me some medications. They are very good, fast and affordable. I couldn't ask for a better vet for my Bourbon! :)
Chrissie, the veterinarian, was very kind with me and she took good care of my little Bourbon.

I am ever so grateful that this place was recommended to me. I cannot thank or compliment Tracey enough ! I called in regards to my lovely cat and her 4 beautiful kittens, and Tracey was nothing but helpful and very polite, she put me at ease with her professionalism, I was very impressed with all the support and advice I was given by Tracey just on the phone and cannot wait to visit the Canning Town branch for my pets jabs. Thank you so much I cannot thank you enough. A very happy and satisfied Customer :)

Took my dog here they try to help as much as they can and they try to be cheaper than other places but still we had to pay quite a lot for a biopsy procedure but I suppose its not cheap anyway and even if I went elsewhere probably would end up paying more. Friendly staff helpful people. Could do with more funding as its a trust
G. Z.
This practice is good and decently priced but they are overwhelmed by demand and sometimes unable to cope. We had our pet blood analysis sent to the lab on a Friday morning and had to turn up on Monday evening in flush to get any news as no vet was available the whole day to give us a call and inform us if the outcome of a potentially dangerous medical profile. Following our visit, our pet ended up in their other clinic overnight for follow up analysis...
H. S.
Could not speak more highly of this charity. The supported myself and my family through a sad time. The charges are very cheap so we donated extra money to help out this worth while. Charity.
C. S.
My cat, Ted, has epilepsy and i have been to a few vets but this one is by far the best. Receptionists and Vets are super helpful always - wouldn't go anywhere else now.
J. A.
They are very caring i was so worried about coco but the vet was very reassuring no one else would see her unless I wanted to pay a lot of money private I got my first cat from there and never had any trouble with both my cats but my dog has gone through a few infections this year I'm back in December for a check up Only allowed six people in at the moment but everything runs smoothly
R. G.
I rang them in an emergency late on Saturday night , my dog had a very bad problem with her womb and needed emergency surgery . After getting fobbed off by vets where I lived as I was asking for a payment plan or help as they was quoting me upwards of £3,000 , C.H come to the rescue and have helped me and my dog Out massively . I can’t thank them enough for the service they provided , thank you again
J. F.
This place deserves 10 stars, the things they do is Amazing they need more funding to survive so please people help them out, my dog was hit by a car and had a broken leg, our local vet wanted £1700 to hospitalise him basically giving him fluids and pain relief, they then wanted £4k to operate and fix the broken leg, I couldn't afford that money was thinking the only option I had was to put him down and I was devastated. I was put in touch with celia Hammond who was a great help they done the operation for £800 including pain relief for 10days after. They saved my dogs life and I'm forever greatfull.
G.
Rough and rugged - they need to clean up the waiting area. Staff looks over-stretched. Its a shame because this could be a place readily equipped for sick animals. Most private vets are expensive wheras this place is for people who cannot afford private vet fees. I believe it is charity run but its no excuse for the condition it is kept in. I will no longer be going back.
I. M.
This has got to be the most caring veterinary practise that I have been to.
The staff are without a shadow of a doubt animal lovers or they would Not be doing the job that they do.
The practise is Very busy but as long as you are prepared to wait you will be seen & the attention that is given to you animal is amazing, please make an appointment first.
The fee's are kept as low as possible for the people that attend are all on low incomes & therefor can not afford stiff veterinary fees so this veterinary practise is a blessing from Heaven.
May God Bless each & every person that works here & thank you for looking after my dog "Chase".
C. 8.
They do a fantastic job at caring for animals and rehoming. As well as going out on a limb and doing everything they can to save animals lives. They only put animals to sleep if its the last resort or if it is 100% The right thing for the animal. Every member of staff gives their all to make sure the animals are cared for.
If you are looking to adopt a cat this is also the perfect place to go.
G. H.
CHAT provides a vital service for pet owners on low incomes by charging at or close to cost price for medication & not having a huge fee for appointments/operations either. Getting seen can take time because they often have to treat emergencies, which take priority.
They also run adoption services, which vet potential owners very thoroughly. This is where the majority of negative reviews come from, as unsuitable owners don't like being told they're unsuitable and come on here whining.
F. C.
I found a baby bird on the street probably fallen from a nest. I had to pick it up to make sure it didn't get squashed by a car but had no idea what to do with it. I just turned up at Celia Hammond and they were very happy to help, took the bird with them and promised they'll look after it.
Thanks a mil!
C. B.
When other vets were happy to pull the plug on my beautiful boy because we didn't have the money to investigate, celia hammond were happy to give us the answers we needed for a fraction of the cost. They were kind and caring and although it wasn't the out come we were hoping for our family are grateful because we could make an informed decision about his future.
f. y.
Highly recommended. Th veterinarians are very very friendly and supportive and answer all questions and concerns. They have always checked my cat who gets aggressive at the vets when necessary, even though she is quote a challenge but they deal with it and provide top treatment. Very friendly and helpful. There is 1 receptionist who seems to have attitude problems, she is rude so I avoid her at all costs. Otherwise they are amazing. Whenever I bought in a stray cat they have always done necessary medical checks on the cat and always done free treatment for the cat. No other vets do that. They genuinely love animals and no one can beat them. Also when I was given the wrong information twice by a particular receptionist, who needs training, celia herself spoke to me over the phone and cleared all the confusion and apologised from the receptionist. Thank you celia!!!!
n. k.
Its a great place for sick cats and dogs. Yes, most of the times you have to wait longer but nothing major. Make sure if it's not an emergency to call them and book appointment. Staff is super friendly!! You'll get all the medicine straight away there as well
E. B.
Amazing staff every so efficient and helpful. All I have is good words for Celia Hammond in Canning Town. They sabes my cat Coco. Thank you all x
d. j.
I cannot praise the people that work out highly enough absolutely without doubt they are fantastic thank you you saved my dog's life
n. w.
What an amazing place. The truly wonderful vet Manuel saved my dogs life by operating on her on a Sunday evening when she was extremely ill. She received the best possible care and attention during her stay from the staff at Canning Town and everyday I'm thankful for this.
E. T.
All I can say is thank you very much Celia for starting this charity. It has helped restore my faith in humanity.
Her charity is mainly focused on cats and dogs, and especially rehoming stray cats. It is a vet aimed at helping those on low income or benefits, just anyone who cannot pay the extortionate vet bills that private vets charge.
I am a rabbit owner and my mini-lop "Blueberry" broke her leg last year. I took her to the local Pets at Home vet called "Companion Care" and they were the worst type of people you could ever meet. They told me that the leg could not be fixed and must be amputated without so much as an X-Ray! This is on top of their initial demand that we pay them £500 for surgery!
I was not convinced by the vet who spoke to me on the phone at Pets at Home, and so I looked around my area for another vet and found CHAT. I called them up, explained my situation and gave them the details of the current vet. The vet from CHAT called me up the same day, told me I should bring the bunny over to them, and then their vet called me on the phone and explained to me in detail what choices I have after examining my bunny, and it was very detailed and an informed discussion.
Blueberry got through surgery, had a pin put in, and is now recovered. I have been back a few times to neuter my other rabbits, and to bring my thanks in the form of baking a cake for their staff.
Their vets really do care about animals from the heart, and they are not here for profit (yes they are a charity!!) They do charge for their services but the cost is considerably lower than private vets. I have met Celia herself and she is an old but seriously dedicated lady. I have been to the charity as late as 11pm and there are still a lot of staff working here taking care of animals.
I have been doing 10k runs to raise funds for CHAT and if your pets need help and you can't afford private vet care, your pet cannot be in better hands than Celia's charity.
N. N.
It is a charity, for low cost vet care - where although the front desk volunteers or staff are generally pleasant and helpful, there is one or two of the staff who are maybe a bit abrupt / rude seeming.
That being said, these people are probably donating their time for free to this remarkable charity helping owners and pets in need 24/7 and they really are providing an essential community service.
D. M.
Celia Hammond and her team do an excellent job providing a much needed animal welfare service. Some of the negative reviews on here are quite disgraceful and should be ignored. Why would you adopt a cat in the first place if you were worried about hair on the carpet? I suggest before adopting you seriously sit down and decide if you can offer a loving home to a rescue cat.
A. E.
John Joyce is an excellent first class veterinary surgeon and a warm caring person who wants the best for your animal! Big thanks! Massive thumbs up! Thank you so much, Celia!!! It adds value to how our dog lives his life!
A. I.
Best place to take your furry friends when they need the help. It's a charity based so please do contribute to their funds always.
They are providing a very needed and valuable service for a fraction of price which other vet charge.
M.
They are brilliant i could not afford my vets quoted £3500.00 for an operation Celia Hammond animal trust did the operation for £700.00 and saved my dogs life.
Thank you very much for all your hard work with Cleo they removed a 7KG tumor
T. _.
This place is a life saver for those who cannot afford the usual prices at normal vets. My cat has been diagnosed with an overactive thyroid and some organ trouble, she was severely underweight and at one vets I was accused of neglect but at Celia Hammond they knew exactly what was causing her to be so skinny and not once did they accuse me of anything or judge me. The overall treatment for her costed around £100. It's been 5 days since my cat has been taking Vildata tablets and its shocking at how quickly its helped her. She's now finally putting on weight she looks so healthy. I cannot thank Celia Hammond for helping us
L. M.
Got both my cats here and registered my dog with them. Staff are friendly and professional, and care is affordable. And it's on the bus route. What's not to love?
j. c.
What an amazing place this is. We had a stray cat living in our garden. We decided to take it in as ours so we took it to Celia Hammond's for a health check up and neutering. They ended up not charging for the neutering so all in all I just paid 15 pounds. I will make an annual donation to this charity for sure.
l. d.
They give an amazing polite service! And very cheap compared to all the other vets! I Usually add £5 on top of bill as a good will gesture
J. S.
The whole staff & vets are amazing..
You may have to wait a while but they couldn't do any better
With your pet xxx
L. F.
Vet spent a lot of time with our cat, then more time explaining his progress to us. A very dedicated and knowledge vet. All the staff were friendly and helpful.Could not have asked for more. Thank you
J. M.
Neighbours cat needed rehoming as they decided to pack up and go back to Romania. I rang Celia Hammond for help and within 2 hours he was picked up and safe.
R. F.
A Very friendly vets, very helpful and the cost was fantastic. Five stars very happy with the service.
S. K.
I can only praise the Celia Hammond Animal Trust in Canning Town. I appreciate very much that they heal 'my' stray cat from our street. The staff was very kind, helpful . Thank you very much again for your service.
p. t. h.
Great vet service. They have been looking after my puppy dog since she was a puppy. Affordable prices and friendly staff
T. B.
Greatly appreciate this animal trust as we got our lovely 2 kittens through them. They also offer vet services at discounted rates. Animal toys, food etc can be picked up from the Lewisham Road branch as well. I can recommend this institution greatly.
j. d.
Really good staff put the animals first
H. L.

If you are thinking of adopting or
fostering a new friend into your home,
THEN LOOK NO FURTHER
Not only will you be helping yourself by adopting from here.
but most importantly by you adopting
IS GOING TOWARDS HELPING RAISING FUNDS for the charity,
AND towards the fight against cruelty, neglect and helping inured animals.
in my case i was so gratfull to have
found the celia hammond trust.
Having help from patsy who went the extra mile and Made things possible for me.very
professional & understanding.
The staff at Celia Hammond Trust do a fantastic job caring for all animals..
HELP AND SUPPORT A WORTWHILE CAUSE.AND ADOPT FROM HERE.
PET SHOPS & PRIVATE SELLERS MAIN GOAL IS TO MAKE MONEY OUT OF ANIMALS ..
.NOT HELP THEM.
M. D.
These guys are brilliant. While my primary contact with them was to organise the rescue of a pregnant feral cat, they also offer veterinary support at a sensible price to people on reduced incomes, subsidised neutering, and have lots of adorable moggies waiting for a home.
An absolute must for anyone with ambitions to be a mad cat person, they also welcome donations from people who love cats but can't have one as a pet, and also have some scope for people to volunteer with them.
s. e.
a very busy surgery with pleasant knowledgeable staff
the only problems were the pets reaction to nearby animals with sum surprises
all medications are well presented and display usage at home
the costs are fair but welfare and time to pay are available, but depends, always ask
M. P.
I've always found the staff polite and helpful and the vets are really good with the animals also ready to listen and give advice if needed , they really do a brilliant job , so thankful to them .
G. S.
If you work and struggle with vet bills this is a good vets to use as their costs are very reasonable; they don't overecharge like many of the others. As a charity and to give back try and make a donation when possible
C. H.
What can I say... Celia Hammond is where you go when you want your animal treated by a REAL vet. Someone who actually cares about their welfare. Visited with my cat during an emergency after The Vet (Waltham Forest) suggested euthanasia when I explained that, although willing to pay absolutely anything, I didn't have enough money in my account at that moment to pay their full fees. My cat was close to death but Celia Hammond saved his life. Forever grateful to everyone there. 😘😘
A. B.
These people are life savers, laterally. I did not know what to do when I realised I couldn't afford treatment for my animals because my circumstances changed. Celia Hammond are efficient, professional, I cannot not rate the highly enough. You have to wait in a queue but my goodness it is worth it.
J. G.
Had to wait over 2 and half hours for my cat to get vaccinated however it was the first time this happened , however still disappointed. And when you asked them about the wait they would be rude and say something like “why do you keep asking?” Or “there has been a delay”
D. H.
Lovely caring people, great place
M. M.
If you want a cat to love come here to get a gorgeous rescue cat. Amazing work that this dedicated team do for such wonderful creatures
C. V.

S. W.

A. K.
I wish I could give infinite stars, the support they have given us was incredible, I have never heard of them before until we were referred to them, they will be on my list to support for donation and I am forever indebted to them. Thank you so much.
M. H.
Lovely friendly professional and caring people. Took care of my cat. Very reliable informative and responsible
S. R.
A charitable place for animals great place please donate if possible and of you care for animals. They work hard and are very caring.
J. B.
Without this place many cats an kittens would be dead. They run on a shoestring budget rescuing and rehoming. Maybe the staff are not always happy when they are dealing with sonstant abuse and neglect cases. Those who complain should go private because how can you moan about a cheap vets service.
K. B.
Celia Hammond is a truly wonderful woman, the compassion, care, time and work put in to make sure all cats are looked after is truly wonderful, puts my faith back in the human race.
L. C.
Excellent service and very good prices and they can sterilse while my cat is in heat! Marvellous!
T. W.
We've given Isaac our FIV cat a forever-home.

N. H.
Love this vet, i have been bringing my cat here for 6 years. Such great value and care
P. R.
Fairly cheap and friendly vet. Olny working hours are a downfall and vaccination times are very uncomfortable for working people. Apart from that, everything seems to be nice
A. B.
