It was a great Sunday, I loved Portobello Market!
There is lots of choice for Cafes, restaurants, antique and vintage stalls, shops, street food, park...
It has a great atmosphere!
We walked Portobello Road and we went to Notting Hill too. The houses and the streets are just amazing!
It is a ‘must see’ if you visit London for few days.
A. P.
Very touristic with a nice touch. I was there both Saturday and Sunday. Sunday was basically off, so best to go during Saturday morning. Cafes all alone the way so you won’t be hungry, ideal to walk along the market and have a nice brunch.

Portobello Road Market is a must in London. You have not been in the city if you have not been in the market. It is true it is crowded, but it is so magic. You can find many things and tasty street food. It has a great street food level. It worths a visit.
K. R.
Easily accessible by Bus and Underground with nearest stations Ladbroke Grove and Notting Hill Gate a short walk from the market.
An early morning visit whilst stalls were setting up, proved more successful in being able to walk down the street and see what was on offer, than a previous visit earlier in the year. However; I still found this market lacking in variety of Antiques and Collectibles (my primary interest.) There's lots of very nice high end Silverware, China, Glass and Art etc in the arcades and shops but little in the way of smaller collectibles like Vesta Cases, Snuff Boxes and interesting curios. I came across some reasonably priced items but found most quite high in comparison with other Antique & Collectible Centres. Having become more of a tourist market in recent years I found the genuine street market vibe of years gone by missing. There are still some great food stalls and other interesting things to see but I wouldn't make a special journey to return. Good market for first time visitors and tourists who want to enjoy a bit of a mooch and try some tasty street food.

You can find the most amusing and interesting things you can imagine here! Didn't do much of shopping around here but tried a lot of food stalls. The olive stall was brilliant! We also tried a 100% Falafel stall. Do give it a try! Worth every penny.
It's a long walk down Portobello so be sure to wear comfortable footwear! The market is crowded but not unreasonably so. There are lots of pretty houses down the road which make for good photos ops.
J. M.
Unbelievable outdoor market! Everything from antiques (incredible selection) to food. Never seen anything like this. Goes on for blocks and blocks. Has something for everyone. Has a fish monger, meat market and an amazing selection of cheeses, baked goods. A foodie paradise!

Antiques, fascinating with a touch of ethnic. In my opinion these are the 3 keywords for the Portobello market recipe. Everything you could possibly want to get your hands on, ranging from Antiques To old clothes And knick knacks. Highly recommended if you decided to spend the whole day looking to buy something unusual in a magical atmosphere. The place is usually crowded but believe you me: it is definitely worth it. There are several food stalls near the end where you can eat delicious food.

Although it was not Market Day, we loved visiting Portobello Road and the side streets, a place to go anytime.
We explored the stores, coffee shops, quirky side streets, murals and gardens. We travelled there by bus and enjoyed sitting leisurly on top and viewing London.

This is a must visit area for anyone visiting London. It is colourful, vibrant and diverse. There are plenty of options for food, drinks and snacks as well as plenty of gift and trinkets stalls. The best day to visit is probably a Saturday but it is very busy at this time. The only drawback is that the area can be a bit pricey.
A. B.
Awesome! I couldn't expect anything more! Is true, the weather got an impact, as well. You van feel the atmosphere of a real market in there! Mostly merchants are truly friendly and ready to give any tiny detail of the product he's selling. Even the old ones are smiling and made the best of my experience in there. Sometimes you can negotiate the price but at only few product stands. Live music and open shops/pubs around. Italian, Turkish, French and Pakistani merchants are exposing their products - good quality and stunning at the first view.
J. T.
A fun day out. This place is a huge open air flea market through the city. Loads of food and other great and freaky things to see and enjoy. Please click 'like' if you like my reviews...
M. N.
One of the famous markets in London! So many sellers, so many things and all kinds of international street food you can find it there! Worth a visit if you are in Notting Hill!
M. D.
Great market. Even though it's very busy it felt pretty relaxed. Maybe because the street is very attractive and has many leafy trees. The shops either side are interesting too.
S. M.
One of the hidden gems of London which are often missed by many. It is the place where one can find loads of antique and vintage stuff at a resonable price, though need to be very careful about the authenticity. The best day to visit is Saturday as the place is at it's liveliest mode. A very good collection of world food at a resonable price. The view of colourful Notting Hill buildings are a bonus.
Personal Reccomendation: Venezuela snack of a pancake made of corn with multiple stuffing option.
L. H.
Great market selling a range of objects such as cameras, coats, antiques, flowers and food. Would definitely recommend a wander. Can be quite busy at times due to it's popularity with tourists.
H. W.
A bustling market which seems to go on forever with a wonderful variety of wares, both old, new and vintage. And an international menu to choose from when it comes time to eat. So glad we waited for Saturday to visit, and allowed ourselves the day to enjoy.
C. A. L.
Love this place! We were just looking for the blue door from the movie Notting Hill but we stumbled upon this gem. An entire street full of vintage jewelry, books, camera, bags. Then after shopping there's a food market too! Will definitely go back.
S. D.
A nice and colorful place to chill out, but it might disappoint you if you are searching for a real antiques and vintage market. The touristy shops are more than the vintage ones. You'll find stuff that you could find anywhere in London. It doesn't have the retro vibe I expected it to have. It's more like a common market with overpriced stuff for tourists. However, the colours and the architectural style and feature that characterise the area are definitely worth a visit.
R. S.
It was a great surprise to find all those amazing places to look , eat and drink. Definitely you'll need a couple of visits to really find everything you need. For a moment I felt in "Diagon Alley". Lots of awesome places to go. Prices are good and you can find everything from a sticker to the Ginstitute ;) Fresh vegetables , street music and various artist turns the visit into a great experience !!!
L. R.
Lovely place
Market shops and stalls sell a variety of produce from fruit and veg, antiques to winter coats. Friendly people. You can always haggle for a discount on your purchase.
Weekends its packed with tourists taking pictures shopping and tasting the local food.
Nice place to come with family as a day out.
b. m.
Notting hill - oh such a beautiful place :) Quite different, colorful and slow paced compared to the other places in London that I visited. Loved the color coordinated cozy looking buildings.
Simple stalls on both sides of the road selling kinds of fancy accessories, shawls and stoles, fancy cutlery, antiques, books, home décor items, handbags and much more!
Regarding the food spotted lot of places stalls selling fresh and amazing smelling falafel and hummus – was glad to spot so many vegetarian options. Do not miss the Olive Bar which serves marinated olives, mushrooms and artichokes.
r. j. r.
Terrific for all sorts of shopping. Pretty
much has it all. Loads of food and drink.
Great fun. Well worth the trip.
Y. F.
We didn't know what are we going to see, we had such a good time there. Lots of people and things to shop and eat. Wait until the end, and only then buy your food. We spent there three hours. There is public toilet in the street, and we found one inside Cafe Nero.
S. B.
Another London landmark that you must to see. Portobello is an amazing place, particularly on Saturday. Full of interesting sights, smells and sounds. It is listed as one of the largest antique markets in England. Well recommended
C.
Such an interesting market with all sorts of things and food items being sold. Huge market spanning few streets. Definitely worth a visit especially when all the stalls are open on Saturdays, though it gets crowded.
J. S.
I loved it! My favorite part of London. I visited on a Saturday and spent about 3 hrs there just wandering around looking at the antiques and talking to the shop owners. A must visit.
V. D. V.
Absolutely great market in my fave area of London. The market has kept its identity over the years maintaining that typical vintage smell, with fresh fruit and vegetables and a great bunch of small businesses. Great selection of antiques, reasonable prices, good food, colors, flavours, multiculturalism and always a big crowd.
J. L.
This is one of the most famous market in London. You can get a lot of fresh food and souvenir. Literally lively place.
M. K.
Very interesting area in and around the Portobello Road Market, extremely busy on Friday and Saturday, but to see it in full swing these are the days to visit. Sunday is a more relaxed day with no market stalls, but like all other days its shops and restaurants are open for business. The surrounding areas are also worth walking through to experience what is very much as it was when built hundreds of years ago.
M. M.
Amazing street market with good options for food and products. Since it's a very touristic place (specially because of the movie Notting Hill with Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant) prices are a little bit high, but they are usually negotiable. I also recommend taking a stroll in the residential area of Notting Hill to see one of London's greatest places.
a.
If you visit just one market in London I recommend this one, hundreds of stalls to browse, selling everything from flowers to books clothes to jewelry and everything inbetween. Try some of the foods from around the world while enjoying the vibe created by the laughing, chatting locals and fab music. A must try are the cinnamon doughnuts from a tiny shop near the bottom of the market street on the right.
e. k. c. h.
Nice place to stroll along. If u are into antique and 2nd hand item, it's a great place for u. With some nice coffee and snacks stalls along.
M. C.
Great street to walk and window shop. Lots of antiques, vintage stores, and unique stores to buy just about anything you can think of. Cafes, clothing stores, handmade and imported goods, further down you'll find food stands and fresh produce.
M. L.
Portobello road is a street in Notting hill district. Known for it's good food, art, silver jewellery and vintage clothes.
Must visit . Keep walking till the end of the road where you will find good seating area and so many different stalls of different cuisine.
Loved it !!
D. D.
I think this is one of the best places in London. I spent 7 hours here, I didn''t want come back! Perfect prices variety for the presents and gifts so come here before buy their.
L. C.
Really pretty market, you could find anything you want for you or to make a gift, I've enjoyed it last Saturday, it was such a sunny and good day!!
E. C.
Colourful place, picturesque, welcoming atmosphere though pricey for open market! Lovely area! A must see!
G. T.
This is the place to be to experience much of London's food. They have everything here. Just make sure you plan your visit properly as they close early.
W. C.
Take a slow walk and who knows u may find something u like! A place full of treasures find, and good comfort food!
v. p.
Great place to browse and find that little gem in one of the stalls or stores. For it it was not to spend but to take in the vibes just being there.
金.
Lots of interesting treasures, also very popular. However, the prices are usually high, so remember to bring some extra cash.
D. m.
Looking for colorful streets of London..here it is...old artifacts, scents, colorful. Buildings, cameras and coffee shops. Great place to do your shopping
G. R.
Without a doubt the best place in London to live if you can find somewhere near by. The market itself is not an everyday market and the best day to go is Saturday between 11am - 5pm if you are looking to shop. The stalls start at the top of Portobello Road, Westbourne Park end with some small second hand/vintage stalls. It then joins the Ladbroke Grove end of the vintage clothes market, which leads you into the main part of Portobello Road. There you will be welcomed by the pumping reggae music, find both shops and stalls that offer a range of foods, furniture, homewares, clothes and unique accessories. There are also well known main stream brands such as Office, Kurt Geiger, Starbucks, Tesco and poundland but the main attraction is the unique and different merchandise on offer from the stall owners, bars, pubs. Stretching all the way up to the Notting Hill end of the station you will find something to eat, buy or even marvel at. Personally for me it's not as fun as Camden market and it doesn't have the convenience of Spitalfields but if you come to London to visit. It's definitely worth going to.
R. P.
Before. I went to London I did my research and Portobello was one of those places highly recommended. It's a beautiful place where you can walk, found somwthing to eat and but great souveniers. It's not so crowd as Central London. We went on a week day in the morning. They have beautiful places for pictures. It is a friendly and family place.
A. A. A.
Walking down memory lane and viewing the unchanged landscape made famous by Notting Hill movie. Lots of street pedlars selling variety of goodies as well as farmers market.
B. C.
beautiful atmosphere great food loads to see and to buy you will never know what you can discover here
D. B.
Some good deals to be found. Place still has character. Honest Jon's is a must visit for Afro centric music and records.
J. P.
Lovely market place. Interesting some vintage things and good food as well.
B. d. B.
I loved this area. Lot of souvenirs shop and nice people. There are some interesting shops that you should go if you are crazy and you like to dress up original and creative
J. V.
So much to see here!! A lot of it is just junky garage sale stuff, but definitely some fun stuff to see. The highlight though was the food... omg... It all looked so amazing, I was so sorry to have had a big breakfast and was not hungry in the least. I did try several samples they were offering and they were delicious. We only stopped for a couple of quick hours here, I wish we had spent an afternoon just browsing and snacking. There is also a nice farmer's market with a fair variety of fruits and veggies that looked good.
S. A. A. R.
Busy place but its pretty cute shops. Worth to visit if you like antique or if you simply just want to see the wonderful colors houses.
D. D.
Had a great time. Found a great antique tea tray and some of the best street food in town.
A. B.

T. K.
Very nice and colorful! Lots of interesting people and goods to see. Also a lot of delicious street food! Highly recommended.
l. a.
Fun and big, but the best part is the live music hall on Saturday and Sunday in the food part
F. B. M.
If you are looking for antiques and articles, it’s a good place to pay it a visit while you are in london, a but over priced.
j. b.
Along this narrow and meandering streetscape find a seemingly endless bewilderment of colour, culture and commerce.
Saturdays the main event.
Remains one of London's defining precincts, an animated, bedraggled, happening thing.
Essential.
효.
It's a vintage haeven and it's full of fun to watch. There are many hat shops. If u r lucky, you will find Holmes hats.
s. a.

A must to visit in London, great sight, good small stuff and international food and flair
K. W.
A colorful and aesthetically pleasing neighborhood to take a stroll around. There is a local market and lots of interesting little shops. A nice area to do some casual shopping and sightseeing.
A. Z.
I love this place because of it’s special charm, the antique stores. I bought some pretty stuff there.
C. C.
Some vintage items are fascinating. But To be honest, I don’t like this street... maybe it would be better if there are fewer stores — so not too crowded and messy.
W. K.
Very nice experience to stroll through the markets and sample to food stalls on offer.
S. S.
I mean Nottinhill is one of my favorite neighborhoods in London period. I'll get in a plane anytime to sit on one its little coffee shops or just to stroll around.
M. M.
Awesome place to experience street market and have some street food. Would recommend to invest a few hours to visit this venue.
S. R.
Love shopping here, both new stuff and used stuff.
In summer it is amazing.
A. I.
Very cultured place. A must if you go to London. The best time to go is on Friday and Saturday. The flea market opens.
G. S.
As markets go, this is a good one, being around for 150 years as the banners across the street itself tell the customers, however it has more and more become a place where tourists take selfies and not fill the coffers.
It is expanding northbound and is offering plenty of unusual goods - aside from and in addition to the antiques that it is famous for. But folks, especially the American tourists are far more interested in the film Notting Hill and THAT bookshop or the door to the house where the film was set.
It needs an impetus to bring it back to the interesting shopping area it once was and for the traders to start charging for photographs. Then and only then will it be a place with a strong market retail presence, and not just somewhere to visit and buy food from whilst visiting.
F. G.
Nice market
Part with antique stuff
Various items sold here
But very crowded
J.
Super cool market with lots of nice food options!
K. S.
VINTAGE! If you're looking for that, this is the place to come. They have some decent street food and street vendors. Walked around for hours without seeing the same shops.
A. M.
Very sweet place, the market is on Sunday, but working days are better because it is nit crowded.
T. Y.
Lots of souvenirs ‘ stores, good cafes. The architecture is one of the main points of the place. You can also discover the places where the movie was filmed.

I used to live and work there in the 80's. It's definitely gone up market but still has a bit of an edge.

Notting Hill Carnival is the place to go on August Bank Holiday Monday
S. B.
Still one of the world's best flea markets (on Saturdays) and an all round nice food and crafts market on other days. Fans of the antique hunting genre cannot afford to miss this one. Prices are on the high side but the collectors with keen eye can still grab a good find here and there.
B. “.
Huge market that just keeps going. The wifey loved the colourful homes (as pictured) and the food was delicious. Jerk chicken for days!
About a third of the markets sold junk though.
s. t.
If you love the movie Notting Hill, then this is the market for you. The Notting Hill shops are open daily but on Saturday the streets are filled with vendors selling everything from antiques to clothing. Be sure to check out the antique map store. If you hate crowds, stay away.
D. C.
A must !! Everything and anything from a Burberry mac too a ornate drawer knob. A buzzing atmosphere and loads of sweet places too munch . Always worth packing a few Blue Peters and making a day of it .

One of my Favorite markets and steeet food areas in London
Y. M.
You can find old stuff there, antique and vintage. Prices are fair.
J. H.
The most amazing array of new and old....Everything! So much to look at and buy from clothes to shoes to food and drink. The international food area is a great idea. The stall holders are happy to tell you about their dishes and give you a little sample. The vintage area is a good place to bag a bargain on your vintage additions. It's a fun, friendly place to visit. And considering the numbers of people who fill the roads and pavements it's so clean and tidy, so well done to the street staff
a. m.
Nothing has really changed in the last ten years. Street food, street fashion and street music at their best
L. W.
Quirky & busy. Head right through to the cheaper end with a great vintage & bric-a-brac market, great value.
S. F.
Something for everyone at Portobello Market. Allow plenty of time and come hungry - the street food is excellent.
R. C.
Great place, vibrant full of life. Lots to see and do. Good from all over, and great vibes. Must see place to visit
A. C.
A very nice market for the antiques' lovers and those you like street markets. There are also many stalls with second hand clothes if you are into them. Have an empty stomach as you will have amazing street food options!
The best day to visit the market is on Saturday when all the stalls are open, or on Friday if only interested in the antiques.
The only bad thing is that it can get very crowded on Saturday.
u. s.
One of the Most vibrant markets in England. Antiques to souvenirs to great curiosity shops and don’t forget the amazing foods!!! It’s an experience you need to go and enjoy not read and learn. And the people are full of love and energy. It’s a community of spirit. Lucky to be around.
M. M.
Bustling with activity and very colorful, it is not "just" a flea market. The atmosphere is comfortable and relaxed and there are plenty of interesting stands. The most interesting ones, for antiques, are at the beginning of the road. It has evolved into something both elegant and slightly touristic, but it's still a wonderful place to visit, where you can find weird and wonderful things.
A. M.
I love this place so much. Everything from the nice antiques to the hipster shops where you can come across unique finds. Make sure to walk all the way to the end because it's all worth it. You can get great street food from around the world as well which is always a reason to make me excited when I go there. My personal favourite is the popcorn chicken. So delicious...
Don't forget to bargain at the many stalls because often the prices go down or you get some sort of deal. Do reserve a couple of hours for it because if you want to look around at your own pace you will find that it takes longer than expected. Have fun!
D. O.
Love portobello Market. Great iconic gem in London. Spent the whole day there at a leisurely pace with plenty of shopping options to choose from. Very unique market with lots of eateries, pubs and bars. The architecture is iconic with all the beautiful. Multicoloured houses. A must visit in London
ל. ז.
Still one of the world's best flea markets (on Saturdays) and an all round nice food and crafts market on other days. Fans of the antique hunting genre cannot afford to miss this one. Prices are on the high side but the collectors with keen eye can still grab a good find here and there.
R. S.
Love the market. It has so much variety of shops, ranging from small stalls to vintage stores to hand me downs to souvenir shops and even high end garment outlets. In the hustle bustle of the market whilst shopping if you're hungry you can grab a bite or two as well. There's a variety of food in all price range to choose from.
G. H.
Great selection of antiques, be prepared to buy something that you really love and bring a little more cash than you think you'll need in case you find something really special. Great range of things on sale and lots of delicious food stalls, too. Worth getting there early to walk up and down and scope out what's on offer as some stalls offer similar things at better prices.
R. R.
Lovely streets, view and atmosphere. Items in stalls are repeating themselves.
Y. W.
Wonderful place to be by exploring new site of London. It is open every Saturday. Great food and unique items. Check the weather before you go. These beautiful flowers were taken at the end of the Market Street.
T. k.
Lovely Market. Great shops.
B. S.
Best London market for small antiques to suit all budgets and tastes. Good sources of gifts and trinkets aimed at tourists, not to mention a good food market for fruit, veg, and artisan bakery for the locals. Well worth a visit if only in London for a short time or every week if you are a devotee like myself. The atmosphere is enhanced by buskers and welcoming stall holders and market traders. Good variety of interests for all generations.
B. B.
If you are looking for a good food and vintage stuff then look no further! This place will be perfect for you! Portobello Market offers variety of things from food, through homeware to clothes. It may get very busy during weekends but it's one of the "must-go" markets in London.
T. P.
Great spot for tourists and locals. You can just walk around and do window shopping - they sell a variety of stuff (food, clothes, accessories, etc.). You can actually buy some cute things there - for yourself or for gifts. Lots of cafes around too, so it's a nice place to have brunch or lunch with friends. You should come on Saturday -that's when the market is the most vibrant.
R. T.
I love this market! I live in the neighbourhood, and I always shop here locally for groceries. It's also a great place to show my friends and family from out of town. If you can make it on a weekday, you might find a vendor that sells near perished produce by the bowl for just £1 each! A local favourite and the stand is always busy.
A. B.
One of the top places to visit in London. The market takes a long portion of the street and it has everything: food, clothes, stamps, antiques, shoes, music, vegetables, cashmere, flowers, etc. Furthermore there are several shops of different kinds (from nice clothes to used cameras and sound equipment). Definitely a nice and entertaining walk.
F. R.
Better go early. Crowded from midday. Be prepared to walk and see a lot of beautiful antiquities. Not that cheap.
j.
If you like to visit markets, this is the place to go. You can find almost everything, clothes, jewellery, purses, souvenirs form London, china, something to eat, different kind of decorations and so on. We went on a Saturday which supposedly is the busiest day. So if you don't like a crowd you should pic another day.
A. A.
Amazing place in London. Great stuff.
S. M.
Love this colorful twon in Nottinghill, London.
C. C.
It's a nice market where you can find fruits, antique, coffee shops, and books with decent price.
M. R. V.
Very nice, I mean you can find a lot of great things here. So walk through it, not fast, enjoy the different options, however bring cash, as some of the sellers dont take credit card and there's no ATM nearby. Also make sure you reach all the way till the end as you will find a nice food market with different food stands and food trucks, also bring cash.
A. J.
Great fun. Come early before the crowds as we did and the sheer scale of the market becomes apparent. Stallholders were patient and mostly friendly, don't forget to look beyond the stalls to the permanent shops behind them. Lovely bohemian feel to the road and around the A40 overpass there's a wonderful selection of food stalls. Literally something for everyone. We'd talked about going for years and after we'd visited, we wished we'd done it years earlier! We went on a Saturday morning.
N. W.
Really awesome market! There is something for everyone here. Everything is really reasonably priced.
C. S.
this market is such a fun experience. Stores along the path as well as vendors set up along the street. the bustle of people is just exciting. plus you get to walk through the beautiful town of Notting Hill and see some really great architecture. Lots of great things to see and purchase and some good food along the way too.

If you love antiques, you won't find better than Portobello Market. Saturday is the main market day, but on Friday you can also visit, but there will be less fewer sellers. The market is very colourful, you can pop into one of the shops or just look at the merchandise on display at the stalls. Great food to be tasted, from afro Caribbean, to Indian, German, Asian, you will surely find something to your taste. An experience not to be missed on a trip to London.
L. P.
Was there for the Notting Hill Carnival. Great atmosphere, convivial, fun.
P. M.
Had a few great hours looking at all the great stalls. The stalls selling antiques to handmade products to fruit and veg. I didn't have time to walk the whole length so will be returning at a later date. Well worth a visit.
A. L. (.
I loved walking around this area! Lots of nice little shops and stands with a variety of things to look at. I could easily spend an afternoon eating and walking around this area. It is also very close and accessible to the tube.
My favorite store is Stumper and Fielding. I love the prints and styles.
S. O.
A very nice place to stroll to get finger foods and a lot of antique item
C. C.
Definitely check this place out if you are visiting London. The colored buildings are beautiful. It's pretty much catered to tourists (but what in London isn't??) so there's plenty of opportunity to buy stuff here. There's a large selection of rings/ jewelry for purchase here.
D. M.
Very unique market locate right next to the Notting Hill Gate. Plenty of antiquities in the flea market
O. R.
Great market, open every day but, not all stalls ate there every day. Particularly good more antiques especially on the weekends. Lovely did stalls fresh and ethnic. Love eating there, the diversity is excellent. Choices galore.
N. C.
The neighborhood is so cozy and cute. The market have really cool stuff. Must go.
D. M.
I love walking through the massively crowded market on the weekends. I usually avoid crowds, but there's something about the energy of all these people walking through the market.
Lots of great food options, and some interesting shops. As for the antiques, I think the movie Notting Hill got it spot on: "some genuine, some.....not so genuine."
Immensely charming. In my opinion, a "must do" if you're in town on a weekend.
N. N.
The best day is Friday. The greatest part is at the end of the road.
L. H.
Huge!! Great day out, lots of digging for goodies... there are a lot of antiques and some clothing.
L. G.
M. S.
Amazing and huge market. Excellent place to find quirky presents for love ones. Also great food area where you can enjoy cooked food from other nationalities but buy some amazing French cheeses or wild mushrooms.
n. p.
Great outdoor market with tons of street food and flea market stores for clothes and accessories. We went on a Saturday afternoon for lunch and a walkabout. The food was great and you have tons of options so come hungry. Also, a great way to get discounts would be to come a little late in the afternoon, right before they start closing for the day, the vendors will start a fire sale on food so you can get great discounts.
K. M.
Did a walk around the area off the internet. Nice to photograph, coloured houses and mews. Quirky buildings like Alice's. I enjoyed this more than the market. If you don't like crowds, avoid Saturday. Lots of food stalls.
F. G.
A very must-go place if you are in London for few days. Better go very early on Saturday morning, when all the shops are exposing and not so many tourists are around. If you look deep you can find good deals and go back home with an authentic ancient piece.
J. B.
Very nice walk along numerous stands offering a mix of old and new things. Great stands with various kind of street food as well. You will also find book store front of the travel book shop used in the classic film Notting Hill. Street is more or less free from cars but very crowded.
E. R.
I walked the entire street, very busy and popular, but has become touristy, but still a good place to shop. Tremendous choice from antiques and nick-naks, to food of every variety and clothing both new and retro/vintage. Hard not to spend your money.
E. F.
Antiques, jewellery and food marken. Worth a visit if you are close by
S. R.
I love Portobello. I live in this area so I guess I'm a local. Portobello is famous for many things but I would recommend going there on a Saturday you can see a line of markets from restaurant shop to restaurant stalls. You also have music, crystals, clothing, bracelets, pictures and other fascinating stalls for you to go around and find things that will entertain you. I would definitely recommend that you bring a camera with you because you will get some fantastic pictures there. Go shop and especially enjoy.
J. A. (.
An eclectic vendor-driven outdoor market in a beautiful neighborhood village setting. Come out for fresh fruit and veg during the week and a collection of clothes and antiques on Fridays and the weekends. Many interesting shops are adjacent to the stalls on the street. Only downsides are the vehicular traffic and crowds. Festive here anytime of year.
T. G.
Located in the heart of charming Notting Hill, this atmospheric and energetic market sells everything from vintage clothes and sumptuous street food to antiques. It’s busiest on Saturdays, but there’s always something going on, whatever day of the week you visit.
P. K.
The market on Saturday is a very lively place. The street is full of people perusing everything, early editions and collections of work of famous authors, old cameras, stacks and stacks of original vinyl records and decorations from all over the world. Every c couple of stalls mouthwatering smells of street food, snacks, exotic drinks and garden grown vegetables are attracting you closer. Portobello road market is a great choice for a day out with your family or friends!
E. R.
Probably the greatest antique market in London. You can find a lot of stuff and probably some good deals, too, despite the tons of tourists hanging around. Obviously, it is lovely for tourists, too, because it’s a London icon, thanks to many movies and books. Better to visit early in the morning, to avoid too many people.
H. R.
An iconic London market highly popular for tourists, it is a long market. It's often packed but if you go early enough you might still appreciate strolling around the stalls. It is a experience at least once kind of thing.
N. P.
An iconic spot in London for shopping (antique, vintage, market, upmarket, boutique and so on) and a wonderland of places to eat covering many cuisines at all kinds of prices.. Great for family's, friends, a lovers stroll, or just alone. Awesome spot to read a book or buy a book. I'm not often here, but when I am, I enjoy it every time as though it's the first time I have been. Forever changing and a vast mix of culture. A wonderful spot to visit in London if you have not done so already.
S. T.
Good place to walk around with street shops bit costly
o. w.
I used to live here years ago and part of me is really sad at the way it has changed. It used to be an area where you got every class and race of person living happily together. Now it has been taken over by really rich people. The streets off the market are filled with ridiculously expensive shops. The sort of places ordinary people would absolutely not be welcome. However, the market itself still has some of the old vegetable stalls and so it retains some of it's charm.
R. d. K.
A great place to visit and very different to the Camden Market. It has less of the tacky tourist stuff and a lot more antique and specialist shop's. Great for a wander, a coffee and lots more. A must visit.
R. J.
A market in the north-west London that has a lot to offer. All the vintage shops and stands were interesting to browse. Unfortunately it is not in its full size on Sundays, so we definitely have to come back to see what else this market has to offer!
K. B.
An interesting environment, full of hustle and bustle from the shop keepers, entertainers and food outlet. It was great on a fine day, but I suspect not so great on a rain day. Thoroughly enjoyed the outing, had the watch out for the sharks selling replicas as real or genuine itens.
Enjoy your visit.
t. t.
Only my second time here ... lots of antique/nick nack shops as well welcoming pubs. Great for people watching and for food and unique goods (some beautiful artisan pieces too). Also some High street shops and a fab Spanish deli!
G. Z.
Very interesting place, lots of little shop, nice people.
h.
I visited during an art festival. The food stalls are amazing with such a great selection of food and the vibe is great. I recommend going here if your a tourist or a Londoner, try to find out if there is any event/market going on. Enjoy the vibe as you walk around!
F. T.
Lots of goodies available at the weekly market; I just wish they had this market more than just once a week on Saturday.
E. B.
This was the longest market I have ever walked, it must have been over 3 miles but only guessing that. Something for everyone, many souvenir stalls/shops. If you like antiques this is the place. The street food was fantastic, the crepes looked wonderful but we settled on the worlds best hot dogs.
L. I. K.
Wow!
I was so lucky that I could explore this fantastic market on my trip to London!
All from antique to food and even a clothes-market was impressive.
Food from every corner of the world is so impressive.
Also I was get my suvenir! Thank you for this time!
N. N.
Fewer vendors through the week, but if a weekday is the only time you have to go during your trip, it's still worth the time. Friendly vendors and fun items. I hear from friends there are great thrift clothes options on the weekends
O. H. B. I.
Here is the world’s largest antiques market which boasts over 1000 stalls and shops who sell unique collectables and antiques. If you’re looking for something special to commemorate your time in Great Britain, here’s the place! There’s also a huge amount of retro and vintage clothes on sale, some at amazingly cheap prices.
M. D.
If you like antiques this is the right place for you. A lot of silverware are on sale, also jewelry. Some very nice vintage shop are open for the visitors and on top of that there's the beautiful Portobello Road.
T. B.
Such a colorful place! You can quench your thirst for street shoping here. Shops offering ranges from antiques to books to street side twisted potato on a stick to modern cuisine. They even have a shop for selling unique and colorful number plates. Beautiful, colorful and well maintained houses line up the road above the shops. Tour on this road is best enjoyed on foot.
M. L.
What is there not to like about Portobello Market? I used to live in Notting Hill around the time of it's gentrification and what is so great and wonderful about the market is that even though all the surrounding areas have changed, the market has stayed true to itself. It has so much charm and character. So much to see and do, especially on Saturdays. It's a place one can visit over and over again and never tire of. Plenty of things to experience, places to eat and drink. London at it's best!
C. R.
I love this place except for the tourists. If I didn't live here it would be fine...but I do so I have to put up with the hoardes of people whenever I leave the house which is frustrating. The shops themselves are nice and unique but the stalls are tourist traps that sell all the same things.
B. T.
This place always has a place in my heart. I love coming here to get away from the Central London rush. I only gave it a 4/5 because they no longer have the traditional street market stalls which was what Portobello was all about! Talk about taking away the main feature that makes Portobello. Cafe 202 is always a must go to Cafe though peeps.
Y.
You'll come across a large range of vintage and hand made products. It's a great place to experience street food, people, atmosphere etc. If you got a free afternoon I say come down here with your cameras and spend a few hours looking around. It's a long street market and one forgettable day
S. P.
Huge market which has crept further than Portobello road itself over the years. A trip to London is not complete unless you have been here. The market embodies what life in London is like, with a touristy atmosphere. They have everything from typical souvineers, to antiques and collectibles, clothing, and there is no shortage of places to eat and drink.
J. A.
This area is one of the cutest and most quaint areas in the UK. The market is a great place to walk around and spend an afternoon. We found some quirky and fun art galleries as well as trinkets and souvenirs.
A. M. A.
Still have something... if you can actually put the swarms of tourists aside.
Portobello market seems like one of those places that dies of success. You can still find authenticity, a nice ambient and good food, but you'll have to put up with the crowds, the stopping in the middle of the place for a picture, the queuing, the souvenirs... worth a visit but not my piece of cake for a regular hang out
K. U.
Great selection of independent shops and food markets. Nice break from the usual high Street retailers.
Definitely worth an afternoon out, walking at a reasonable pace it took me about an hour from the top of the street to the bottom
L. J.
Great outdoor and indoor places for antiques and memorabilia hunting, very busy on Saturdays
C. L. J.
Very nice market, with great various food all along the way. Lot of different stores, going from clothes to souvenirs, food (again.. I liked it :-)), etc... Nice colored houses also ! Great for inhabitants and tourists to mix.
M. M.
This is a fabulous and very popular street market.
Portobello Road is a very long road lined with residential buildings and shops. The Southern part of Portobello Road is predominantly the world renowned and reputable Antiques Market. The novelty and array of antiques on sale here is staggering and prices can be surprisingly affordable. You a sure to find something of interest and may bag yourself a bargain.
As one walks northwards and up the street, the market changes into a mix of Arts & Crafts and Fashion stalls, as well as Global Food Stalls. This northern part of Portobello Road is also lined with many retail outlets ranging from the usual high street chains to exotic independents and boutiques. There are also many popular Bars and Restaurants here.
At the top end of Portobello Road, there is a concentration of Spanish (and a few Latin) shops, bars and eateries. This vicinity is a focal point for Spanish expats and tourists. There are also a few excellent Spanish Delicatessens located here.
Travel by Public Transport, as it is much easier than taking the car. The local roads are very congested and parking is generally expensive and a total mare!
I personally prefer to alight at Notting Hill Gate Underground Station and walk northwards up Portobello Market; thereby culminating my visit at the Street Food Stalls, Cafes and Bars, for a few well deserved treats!
L. H.
Tourist trap but worth visiting. Geta insanely busy. Visit the 92 year old on the fruit and veg stall further down near the more chain shops. She's wonderful bless her. All range of products on offer new and of course old and antique.
M. S.
Amazing atmosphere. The food stalls are delightful., try to visit the food stalls on a Saturday as Sunday is usually antique stall etc.
Please note, try and take cash as the ATMs are further up the road. I really enjoyed the Belgian waffles with chocolate sauce and strawberries... But they are best shared as they are far too filling otherwise.
L. R.
The most consistently inspiring car boot sale I know - clothes, hats & bags, lots of shoes (trainers in particular), furniture ... all in 'almost new' condition. Lots of culture with food stalls & live music here and there. For me, it's a go-to when needing to get out of the house without intention to purchase anything. I once got the best quality leather jacket there for £25, although a little small.
J. O.
Weekends are crowded. Weekdays are lovely and you can take your time perusing the stalls and shops. Portobello Print Shop is great. Gail's Bakery is a wonderful place for coffee and pastries.
D. A.
Amazing for walk around and just wunder!
D. H.
On a bitterly cold day we went to look at antiques. Really pleasant to visit a place that I had not seen in years. The Lonsdale pub was warm, the staff were friendly, and the decor was classy. Unfortunately, there was no mulled wine. We visit again
N. J.
Largest antique market in London. You can buy varieties of antiques at reasonable prices. Tourists and locals are visiting like hurd and it is really difficult to walk through. Also many kinds of food stalls where you can get street foods from all over the world. Must visit market and good value for money.
J. S.
VERY busy market. I like to visit this market when friends are in town, but I don't usually end up buying anything. It's better for people watching and taking a stroll. That said, there are some great food stalls if you're hungry.
M. M.
Nice place.Big choice of food. Check the dates coz some of them are selling fake products out of date for half price.
M. A.
Lovely marketplace with a mix of the usual touristy shops and local products. Street stalls offer fruits and vegetables as well as affordable stuff such as funky tees and pretty doll dresses. Shops are electic - vintage goods, toys (for children and toy aficionados), delicious taiwanese bubble tea (vanilla tea with any extra toppings is out of this world 👍), jelly shoes - definitely a must-visit.
S. M.
My favourite place in London great market, great shops, amazing vibe
M. W.
My favourite London market. Lovely antiques wonderful food stalls from around the world and at reasonable prices. Vintage clothes stalls random sellers if your looking for quirky or intresting or somewhere to wonder on a Saturday its perfect
M. X.
Very overcrowded with tourists and did not find too much local charm from those generic vendors.
L. D.
I grew up nearby and learned to walk on Portobello Road, so my history with is long and sweet. It can be hit and miss on certain days, and the prices are very much geared towards tourists these days. The quality of the stalls has waned but there are up and coming businesses. Like most gentrified areas, it's becoming a foodie destination, which is great but I think the council and community need to work harder to find a better balance. They need to stop catering towards tourists so much, and cater towards the people who have flocked there for generations. But, the charm and culture is there for the most part, and I find that invaluable. I advise all visitors to engage with their surroundings, not just take photos. Really get to know the place.
I. C.
Its such a great place to visit.to take a stroll down this Humble market. For I" always brings back the old good old days. Ha yes truly is something" good to see. Even if you got know money. You can always bring a pen & paper with you.? & write down some prices of items. Compared to other markets stalls etc. The old electric cinema" is still going. I have been visiting the market since 1976. and you will always get good vibes" to take away with you. To remember. Have yourselfs a good day out. Blessings.& peace.
A.
Really great market. Good for a general mooch, fresh fruit and veg, clothes, antiques, records etc etc. Has a good food and drink area as well. And then there's always some great street entertainment happening as well.
S. S.
The best, largest vintage market in London. It is always full of tourists, but the arcades along the side of the road are normally more quiet. There's a lot of vendors aimed at tourists on the road itself, but the arcades are where the true vintage gems are hidden.
O. B.
I've always had a love of Portobello partly because it is my 'local' flea Market, but also because it is unpretentious and more hippy than hipster (Camden Market - I'm looking at you!) It has a great mix of delicious street food and eclectic brick-a-brack. Beyond the market stalls there are beautiful antique shops and relaxed cafes where you can sit and people watch to your heart's content.
Two tips: firstly get there early because it is chaos from about 11-11:30am. Also, if you start at the top end don't get put off by the dodgy stalls selling junk, the further down you go the better and more interesting the wares!
a. C.
Very trendy open street market , famous for food stalls, antique and antiquarian shops and stalls. Great mix of culture and ethnicity .always street artists when we have been . We popped into Portobello Star for cheeky cocktail which was amazing .
F. M.
I love this market! Allow plenty of time to wander along browsing the stalls and the shops behind them and definitely get some great eats at the food stalls. This market is a must when I'm in London.
J. P.
To the uninitiated, Portobello Market can be overwhelming. This is where shoppers shop, and dealers deal, with musicians busking on corners, a din of chatter, and a crush of humanity that goes on for blocks and blocks. All kinds of folks - all walks of life - checking out the kiosks and the stores lining the street. This isn't a garage sale; many of the vendors offer collections so unique - like hundreds of pairs of artsy/funky cuff links - that the temptation to buy is driven by the fact that you'll never see a collection like this again. Don't eat before you get there - there's a huge variety of street food available.
M. “. K.
Really nice selection of antique everything, from books to cameras. Decent street food. It is busiest on Saturdays (also the main market) but stores along the street is as good so a weekday would be as nice.
E. C.
It's so vibrant. Something to look at or buy from every part of the world. Wonderful music sounding out like the saxophone musician playing current tunes. The smells of different cuisines. Wonderful to walk through.
J. D.
Great for those into fashion, especially vintage but sadly you'll pay for it these days. Lots of lovely delis and coffee shops plus great places to eat. Check out Mau May's bar for a local vibe and cool sounds...
M. M. J.
A lively market, particularly Friday to Sunday. Great for sampling a variety of foods from different cultures, many coffee shops, restaurants, trendy bars, members clubs, places with music, cake, clothing - everything! Friendly community too 😎
U. S.
One of my favourite locations. I love Portobello the vibes, the atmosphere, the food, the people. I love shopping and picking up fresh produce, buying books and sitting having a cup of coffee.
N. R.
Portobello Road, innit? You've probably got to go to the market at some point if you are in London. Yes, it's a bit of a tourist trap but that's not always a bad thing. Plenty of stuff on offer, food and drink too and also very good for people watching.
P. M.
Artbees is one of the most popular digital marketing agencies in the UK highly recommend.
j. g.
A true London-version of the peaceful co-existence among the people from different ethnic origins. Love the people there, love the stuffs on display and on sale and love the overtly expressed vitality there. Superb place for tourists spending 3-4 hours there.
C. C.
Touristic sight! It's a old style/vintage market. They sell very old items here such us old cable phones, silver cutters. There are also few stands that sell fresh veg and fruit for below average prices. The area is amazing!
B. V.
You come to Portobello market and you will understand why the locals want to protect this area to be "small traders" only. This is a colourful market with all sorts of vintage and unusual merchandise from antique jewellery to cabinets of curiosities, the possibilities are endless. A great place to while away a leisurely afternoon. Who knows you might even come across an objet d'art of immense value? This is a popular market with locals and tourists alike so come early.
M. J.
One the oldest Antiques Marktets in Europe. It is now diversified into selling pretty much everything. Still has the good Notting Hill Vibes. The FULL Market days are Fridays and Saturdays. Rest of the week there are only a few stalls
B. 8.
A nice way to spend your weekend. There’s plenty of atmosphere on Portobello Rd as people wander the street and check out the various stalls and curiosities, there’s also plenty of restaurants and bars on the road to round off your experience.
T. L.
Great variety of curiosity shops down Portobello Road and then lots of cuisines from around the world in the market. Most are relatively inexpensive and doing serious cooking with fresh ingredients. I had some Turkish food with handmade flat bread, but everything looked and smelled wonderful.
D. S.
Its a neat market. Walking thro the streets kept reminding me of " Bedknobs n Broomsticks " its an awesome place with English history written all over! The unique feature i noticed was that the market stall keepers were quite senior citizens at least a good proportion of them, probably been there for many years. Its a must visit place for anyone visiting London.
E. S.
I live locally and I love Portobello market. Particularly in the summer there are lots of cafes with tables on the street - it has a very Parisian feel - without the attitude! Local tip - Golborne Road Market is where all the locals go!
R. L.
An eclectic collection of roadside stalls selling various goods, fruits and tourist souvenirs. Great for cheap buys from local sellers. Though be warned, not all the store keepers are as friendly as the next.
S. H.
Good place to go if you are new to London and want to see a busy market. But beware it is a Tourist Trap and bargin's are few and far between. The good stuff is priced accordingly, as the dealers know the values of things and are expensive. There are better markets to go too if you want more realistic prices.
Some items are to coin a phrase, 'TAT' and expensive tat at that. Just be aware. Food, pretty hit and miss, coffee chains outlets abound serving the usual 'Brown' coloured water pretending to be coffee. In saying that there are a few good places where you can get a decent coffee, you just have to look and taste.
Good photo opportunities but keep cameras and wallets close to you as there are pickpockets around places like this but you get that in any city.
K. T.
Quirky, charming shops with vendors selling cheap souvenirs along the street. It's a good stop for a tourist. Better still is a dreamy stroll around the gorgeous surrounding neighborhood.
A. T.
An absolutely fantastic Street market. Buzzing, vibrant, full of character, Plenty of bargains to be had, great pubs and cafes - the list is endless. Tourist trap? Maybe. I just love the place!
J. S.
It is a lovely market. Smaller and cleaner than Camden market. Seafood paella was brilliant there! Next time we will get sugar cane or tender coconut water.
W. K.
Very cool things to do as a tourist. Tons of street vendors with food, clothing, home goods and accessories. Great spot to walk around and get a flavor for the area. Really enjoyed it on a Saturday morning.
T. T.
Great place to grab some quality street food or merchandise. The falafel or spanish paella is exceptionally good! Only reason why I gave four stars is cause I still prefer Camden market as it has more non typical choices while Portobello Market is mostly for people who don't like taking risks with their food. Everything you always order or like you will find there! Lovely place!
L. L.
Good place to have your money taken away from you while you complicity watch.
L. W.
A fantastic street market featuring some fascinating antiquities and curiosities. Often bustling on the weekend, pop down to Portobello Road for a wide variety of street food or a view of some famous addresses (as seen in Notting Hill!) While you're there, say hello to one of the local bobbies walking the market at the weekend - they're friendly and always pleased to pose with you for a photo or two.
C. G.
Again, a must to visit in London because you will never go hungry here. It's like the swap meet of London: this is the Notting Hill.... Foods, antiques, stickers, Thai, Hungarian sausage, Seafood Paella, etc. Enjoy it!
A. H.
Fantastic market. Something for everyone.
e. m.
It's always lovely to stroll around portobello
M. C.
Beautiful street market next to Notting hill gate. Street food and antiques in a long hilly street with great places to eat and live music most times.
Go on a Friday or Saturday. It can get buddy but it is worth it.
a. k. s.
One of the most frequented market by the tourists of other countries specially from Eastern European countries. Various items are available for sale. So many resturants and cafe for having coffee and snacks.
Parking for vehicles of customers is available on roadside.
S. C.
It is amazing to see the amazing sewing machines collection they have all around their windows. Super super amazing to see even if you are not buying anything in the store. It is a must if you pay a visit to Portobello market
E. R.
The antiques market is only open on saturday till 4.30 pm. It's really gorgeous and in the street there are a lot of points where to eat something both salted or sweet food. Usially there is really a lot of people walking around
B.
Never fails to put a spring in my step on reaching Portobello. Despite chain stores ever saturation of the area and developers crashing handling of the area, the old market stalls, traders, quirky shops, locals... help keep the old character only slightly frayed at the sides. Visit as often as you can, be mellow before the developers rip the heart out of the community.
R. M.
Didn't expect market on friday or foodstalls...a bonus
However be aware that the foodstalls don't have seating area and the seating that is available is supposedly belonging to pop up bar whose staff make you buy drinks or move you on.....if it wasn't for the market they would not have any customers.....not even sure if they have license to sell alcohol!
Apart from above a nice market and day out
L. A.
Portobello road is great fun, but super mobbed on weekends. Personally I prefer weekdays, even if there are much fewer stalls. I would not take young children.
E. M.
Portobello is really several markets in one, Saturday being the day when all are in full swing. Then you can experience a mile of hustle, haggle, colour and energy. The feature of Saturdays is the opening of hundreds of antique and specialist shops and stalls. There are some talented and bizarre street performers to be spotted too.
E. T.
Nice and vintage place for shopping, close to the tube station.
C. A. M.
You can find a wide variety of objects, clothes, craft stuff, and awesome food. And don't be ashamed of trying to get lowers prices than what you're told. I bought some 10£ earrings for 6£.
However, none of the cafés has toilets but one or two maximum.
J. V.
Well the name itself is very well known in London now. Not a prime tourist attraction but one visit would change that perception. Super live and upbeat place with almost a mile long walk with stores and cafes and bars and pubs. And yeah a hell lot of street food options. Best and most convinient way to get here is via underground tube. Closest station Ladbroke Grove. Choose a Sunny day to visit and you can make a good day out of it.
E. C. J.
One of my favorites market.
The main day is Saturday and beat the crowd by arriving before lunch time. Vintage and antique market, also offer fresh fruit and vegetables stall. Plenty of restaurants and eateries.
A. E.
Pricier than a lot of the other markets but definitely some hidden gems here. So much to see! I thought 2 hours would be enough but I took 3.5 and didn't even go down the food road (it was a zoo on that street!) And also did not go into a lot of the inside antique stores. A 👮 stopped me to warn me about watching my purse BC of pickpockets so that's my warning to you!
C. S.
Loved this market! It is huge and different varieties of stuff. Different cultures of food, snacks, souvenirs, or just little to some live music. Can't go wrong here (it was really packed on a Saturday).
S. O.
Love the market. There are many stalls and shops with good items but relatively lower prices. Will absolutely stop by the Portobello Market again in my next trip to London :)
G. E.
Alot of shops here, a huge variety. Many shops set up in the street and several more in the buildings on the street. This was the best market we went to in london i believe. It was atleast where i found the most items i was interested in. I found an antique sheild at a shop on this street and another store that had antique tobacco cans for my dad. There was alot of silver items here as well some on the street and other shops. People were very helpful and friendly. They had a little bit of everything at this market, some very good restaurants rite here as well! Highly recommend this market over the others, we went to them and wasted our time this one was great!!
N. B.
A perfect Saturday morning to get a break from your routine , to feell like a tourist in your city.
Enjoy street musicians like the river music.
A huge variety of cuisines ranging from Thai to Hot dogs.
If you are a vintage items collector, this is the location for you with a lot of items at cheap costs and 1st editions of the Famous Harry potter.
How could we forget the famous Travel bookshop from notting hill
Overall, don't miss this location.

Portobello Market is my back yard! I love this area. Close to Ladbroke Grove station. It's vibrant and always something going on. Saturday market is busy and bustling where you can buy multicultural street food. Vintage clothing, Antique shops and stalls. Wide variety of pubs and restaurants. Buskers and Market traders. I would highly recommend giving Portobello a visit.
B. A. M.
The best day to visit it, is without no doubt, Fridays! Or in case you can't do it, try to go early on Saturday morning...you could have a lovely coffee watching through the window (in those cold english days) or sitting in a terrace, how the street get busy, how all the stalls start the day, the first hours when only local people are there running to get to their jobs or to their children' school...and avoid the crowded hours. Take your time to find the best and most asked pictures, from the Notting Hill film, for example...but don't forget Portobello has more than that... look for some of the most beatiful mews it has, or the colourful houses all in line besides Portobello,... Take something for lunch at the food market that is located at the end of Portobello Road while you listen to the music the stalls have (sometimes you will find live music as well) and finally have a walk looking for Golbourne Road where there are some other lovely restaurants and cafes.
I'm sure you will enjoy it!

One of nice places I've visited in London. It feels like you're out London, in fact. You can get varieties of products in the Portobello Market, e.g. fur jacket, ornaments, Italian breads, and what not.
T. A.
It looks very diverse and it's busy most of the days. The prices are of all sorts but most things you can get cheaper in some other places. If you are first time visiting London you can have a look but it's not a must if you ask me, it has the same stuff as any other small matket.
P. A. P.
Is a nice market, but either you go there on Saturdays and it's completely crowded, or there is very few things to see. Some shops open on Sundays but only a few. Also the food market was closed, and we had to eat somewhere else.
H. B.
Gets very busy on Saturdays when the weather is good. Hard to find good quality product but you have an interesting selection of antiques. Very popular with tourists.
R. D.
Great upbeat market vibe with a varied selection of vendors ranging from crepes, waffles, t-shirts, hats, military costumes, masks, -jewellery, hand,-made home ornaments, cakes and many many more.we arrived there within an hour of closing time and was still booming.
M. R.
The Portobello market is the grandfather of all the markets in London. Great food and drink with many different types of products from around the world. It is based at Notting Hill and it's cosmopolitan where everyone can enjoy good time away from home or work. It's like a therapeutic place we just forget that we are in London because everything nearly stay the same like in the old times.
N. B.
Portobello market is on of the most known market in London. There happens every year during the last week of August the Notting Hill Carnival. The district becomes very animated and you can enjoy several kinds of music.
C. W.
it's a vibrant Market Street and It's full of eclectic stalls.
There are many different shops down this road selling antiques ,coffee bars, eating places, market stalls were you can buy buy hot food. £1 shop, cinema Salvation Army Street singers and musical performers, vintage clothes, Tesco's supermarket, pubs where you can drink and also a good pub food . There are many shops and stores off Portobello Road selling all sorts of things. Portobello Road was used in the film Notting Hill.
S. G.
Despite bruschettas at 5£, how can anyone not love this place? Great for brunch (would recommend Gail's Bakery), Dinners (Electric Diner), cinema with a twist (Electric Cinema) or just great coffee in one of the many coffee shops. Great also for vintage shopping
T. C.
Portobello Road is a good option for passing collectors, every Saturday a fair is held along the street. My advice to anyone who wants to visit, try to go as soon as possible and thus avoid the large number of people who visit the fair. Along the huge street you will find people selling things, acting, quick meals and many other things.
M. C.
Nice place to checkout...
N. J.
One of the most beautiful markets in London. Portobello Is a must see if your touring London. You'll find beautiful souvenirs and amazing Street food here. I personally recommend trying the Italian cuisine while at the market .
M.
Really loved the unique character of this market. Notting Hill is a great area to visit. Bring cash and buy a few unique souvenirs or eat with a food vendor.
M. K.
A rare place where you can get some community feel, without leaving anonymous streets of London. Good craftsmanship, rare produce, many knick-knacks you remember wanting as a kid, but done in metal, wood and to collector's standards.
B. C.
Not a bad place for shoppers. Can spend hours there. Got a good collection of shops for all sort of things. Went into one designer shop where the shoes cost over £3000. For a second hand paid and ones youd never wear. But there are loads of shops on all scales of pricing. Make sure you look around before you buy as some charge 4 times the price as other shops. And theres loads of food places as well which comes in quite handy, coffees, and also silly priced nibbles. Look round before you spend. Also wear trainers or flats. And make sure its sunny as its all outdoors. People tend to run into shops to keep warm. And theres no toilets unless you goto the coffee shop. Sundays are a better day to go, as there are less queues and easier to shop.
N. S.
Great market to have crepes or other snacks. You can also purchase great items for tourists like pretty pocket watches. Great food on the north end of the market.
J. P.
This is the only place I could get some souvenirs from London. Go on a Saturday when all the markets are open. But be sure to go early and prioritise because you wouldn't know how time passes by. And many of the shops starts to shut down by 5:30.
R. G. S.
Portobello street market is every Saturday with amazing option of food. Since its super crowded, if you just want to discover the area or the antique stores, it's equally enjoyable.
V. M.
One of the best street markets in London, famous for the setting of the hit movie Notting Hill. Full of stalls from antiques to exotic fruits from all over the world. A must else for any tourists.
M. C.
Lovely place for a walk on a leisurely Sunday
P. K.
Amazing stalls and great atmosphere throughout the year. If you like the movie Notting Hill then you will love this place as it's based in the area that the movie was filmed.
R. S.
It's a market. It has market stalls, and lots of them, but.... It's a market!! If it didn't have the name it would just be any old market.... But it DOES HAVE the name!!! Its a long street and stalls all the way up and down again!!! Lots of places to eat nearby too. A piece of London. What's not to like?!?
J. D.
Portobello Market is a nice place to be in the weekend. On Saterday they have a great antique market, that is sometimes to crowed. Don't forget to walk to the end, their is a vintage market and some great street-food waiting for you.
L. P.
A bit too crowded so avoid if you don't like it. It's a great neighborhood to visit, try to go earlier to avoid all the tourists . Plenty of coffee shops and small restaurants.
H. A. A. A.
A long stretch street full of vendors selling fake handbags, clothings, antiques, like a flea market. There's also food stalls at one end together with fruits just like the movie Notting Hill. Great time to spend your time.
M. S.
Fav place in London. Great atmosphere. Great local food and drinks. If you there go up to all saints road there's a lovely music shop called Portobello Music Shop. Ask for Neil
W. L.
Only one of the coolest places in london. if you've never been youll be a fool not to ! Go on an empty stomach because the selection of food is amazing. do your research and go on the market days
J. P.
Portobello Market is a great place if you are looking for antique items. There are a lots of shops selling items ranging from vintage camera, old coins, old silverware, leather materials, picture frames and many more.
S. L.
Lovely place to spend an hour of your weekend.
R. B.
Great atmosphere...lots of colour..lots of street food..lots of great pubs..all human life is here....you can buy everything from a bears head....to a pair of hob nailed boots.. its full of vigour....full of life...great place...a must if you visit London
T. Y.
Super nice place to walk and to buy something cute. There are lots of antiques shops. Lively area with cozy boutiques. Popular destination for tourist and Londoners.
W. Y.
Who does not like flea market!? Very happening and well known flea market and lots of sections based on your preference, antique, clothing, food, etc. My favorite section is exploring different kind of cheap but good quality food.
C. R.
Its a beautiful market with antique objects and New ones, food.... But with the thing is that because of the Word vintage... A very old peace of clothe can be so expensive.... And there are done others with razonable prices...
There are also 2spanish shops (food)
N. M. F.
Very good market in a beautiful place.
C. H.
A few too many of the same types of stalls with generic things (mostly clothing) with a few hodden gems in between. I was there on a Friday morning and it was crowded. Can't imagine how crowded Saturday would be.
K. W.
Insanely crowded on weekends. Huge variety and goes on for miles. Something for everyone. Not great for prams, small kids or wheelchairs. Great street good selection. Some junk and some treasures.
D. A.
Great market on Fridays especially for the locals, Sat & Sun best for meandering tourists, has a great organic Mushroom stall selling good produce near the Castle pub on corner of Westbourne grove Rd.
R. F.
A must go place for whoever never had the chance to visit! Every saturday the streets of Portobello Rd become this gigantic market with evetrything and anything available.
You can bet you'll be tempted buy something to buy, eat or drink along the way.
The only downside is how popular this place is, with thousands of people anytime you go, expect people bumbing into you along the way.
G. M.
Cool place to walk around on a sunny day. Found a street seller that sold "the full shabang" felafel wrap. It. Was best I ever had and I have eaten lots. He also told us a story. Get him talking for added entertainment.
M.
A charming Street market around the Notting Hill area. The focus is more on antiques and bric-a-brac rather than told, but food stalls are still there for a quick bite. Overall, a nice, quaint British market.
G. A.
Apart from Brick Lane Market, Portobello is one of my favorite places to go in London! The weekend vibe is just very uplifting, especially after you see the hustle and bustle of the vintage and food shops, the unique live performances, and the colorful architecture. Definitely should visit one of the vintage branded shops, the hand-knitted shophouse and of course try out the different ethnic food. Recommend this to anyone who is looking to get away from the crowded City of London.
D. M.
Portobello Market is a modern London street market. There's a wide selection of genuine antiques, clothing, giftware, homewares, and food stalls.
Visit on a Saturday for the best experience. There are street closures in place then. Travel by bus or tube to avoid paying for parking, or having the hassle of hunting for a parking spot.
The street is often congested. This may mean having to take more time to explore the stalls, or nipping into a few local bars or restaurants to enjoy local quality dishes.
D. G.
A must see London tourist attraction if you're in town come and see where a host of London celebs live. Multiple film locations and the home to carnival. Primarily though the longest running antiques market in London.
K. S.
Great street market that gets unbelievable crowded on a Saturday. If you go to the very end there's a crazy colourful street food market with music under the train tracks. Love this place!
F. E. A.
Excellent tourist attraction, while you are there on a Saturday offcourse then I advise you to have lunch at the turkish restaurant on potobello road. The pavements are narrow and difficult to walk on with a baby stroller a specially when the market takes place on a Saturday when the streets are crowded.
L.
Wonderful experience. A very busy street market where I found a mix of international food, new and old items including clothes, music. Loved the buzz.
J. M.
This is al lovely place to buy diferent things like shirts or judies.
M. O.
Definitely a tourist attraction. Not too crafty, a lot of deceased estate stuff... More like an upmarket car boot sale. Good street food though.
R. C.
What's not to like about Portobello market? Souvenirs, apparel, antiques, snacks, big bites, cafes, bars, pub - this place has everything. The regular traders are always there, but there's always something new each time you visit
H. R.
I love going here for a stroll. Always so much to catch the eye. But make sure you end your walk at the Golborne Road end as the restaurants & cafés there are worth visiting after a good stroll down Portobello road.
m. R. M.
The Saturday Market is the best time to visit! People from around the world come and visit Portobello to feel British Market. Portobello also became famous when Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts filmed most of the Movie "Nottinghill"
E. L. I.
walking on Portobello Street is a very nice and funny experience. you can walk, make shopping, listen to music performed on the street and eat something good like a pancake with chocolate and banana in the same time
A. M.
If you want to visit a great antique market go to the Portobello market on Saturday. Stop by Notting station and walk 5-10 minutes to arrive there. If you go until the end of the street you will also find some street food like those delicious doughnuts.
C. G.
Very interesting place a little bit too expensive
T. V.
Your average standard street market. Quite large, takes a long walk to cover it all. There is lots of stuff and a wide selection of various types of foods but nothing special.
K. C.
Some good food and good but very crowded on Saturdays. I like mid week, less vendors but you can walk and check out all the shops.
C. G.
Very cool outdoor market with some really interesting shops. There are some pubs and restaurants in the area. Also had some street food available. Can easily spend several hours here.
L. T.
Do not ever ever ever let anyone tell you the Brits don't do snazzy food - they do ! The food at the markets is exquisite, fresh, innovative and a lot of fun. Love love love the markets.
C. “. M.
Very lively London market. Anything can be found here. From fruit and veg to antiques and tattoo shops. Food stalls are quite good.
g. S.
I enjoy the portobello road market alot, and now the market has its very own website & app. So no need to go to London on a yearly basis (what i might still do : ) I look forward to the launch of the site so i can be able to add and purchase my favorite fashion items from my desktop.
a. z.
Portobello Market is a wonderfully eclectic place with something that will appeal to everyone from small children to the more mature visitor.
A foodies paradise, it has cuisine from around the world to tempt even the most jaded of palates.
For the more self sufficient, there is the UK Halal Butcher Shop of the Year award winning Master Butcher of Kensington! If you haven't tried their mountain reared Welsh lamb or their grass fed Irish beef, you haven't lived!!
Best days to visit are Fridays and Saturdays when the market runs the length of the Portobello Road from Notting Hill Gate all the way to Golborne Road.
Worst day to visit is Thursday as the market only trades for a half day, finishing at 1.00pm (most market traders don't bother coming out at all on Thursday as they have to start packing away almost as soon as they get everything set up to trade!!).
P. M. M.
Overcrowded on the weekend but its a must see along with Camden Market while in London. The Street, Pub, Cafe and Restaurant food is outstanding and there is a menu for every price range.
I. M.
Amazing place. Loved the many food stalls and antique shops. Great atmosphere overall. There was one place at the end of the market with live music inside.
C. H.
I must return to Portabello Road, there's so much to see! It's a great place to spend an afternoon exploring. You can find treasures that are very old and some that are fresh and new.
m. g.
Portobello Road in Notting Hill is the place to be! Great atmosphere and one of the coolest places in London! If you're into vintage stuff or looking to buy great records.. Definitely check this market out!
G. J.
Went mid week and only a handful of shops were open.
Need to go at the weekend when the market is in full swing.
Definitely worth the visit.
Will go back at the weekend next time.
G. F.
Lot of people, nice little colorfull houses.
M. D.
It's a wonderful place to go lots of stalls vintage clothes jewellery street good and on Friday's second hand goods and clothes there several pubs and coffee shops also the ultimate experience is the Electric Cinema highly recommended there are a couple of small supermarkets for general shopping and plenty of fruit and vegetable stalls best day to visit is Saturday but it does get crowded when the weather is ok
M. K.
An amazing world wide market, known as the longest outdoor market. it has many wonderful food stands, clothing, and antiques. Try the Falafel from the two lady's in a food truck.
D. K.
An amazing flea-market where one can find real old and cool things. The food carts in between do not hurt either. Bring time $ cash.
K. C.
Very nice part of London!
D. L.
If you can't find something you love at Portobello market, then I don't know what to tell you. Amazing food, great atmosphere, antiques, clothes, bric-a-brac, a bit of everything. Plenty of junk too, but if you're shopping in a market you should already know that caveat emptor is the name of the game. For an extra special experience, head to Airbnb and look for "Portobello Road market tour with a trader" - Max has more than 25 years experience trading in the area and will give you a great morning.
a. p.
A wonderful full place to visit!
M. I.
Different look of London and good for street Shopping
j. g.
Tucked away in the heart of Notting Hill. Lovely unique treasures & also some of the usual 'market' bargains.
Also a variety of places to eat, from snacks to mains, drinks to deserts!
J. M. L.
Lovely place for tourism and shopping.
T. B.
This is the ultimate flea market. Anything and everything.
A. S.
A bustling market but not for the claustrophobic! Found some lovely antique woodworking tools to bring home as souvenirs and then got out of there as quickly as possible so we could breathe again.
I. L.
Whenever you go out well be crowded. If you like antiques you'll get mesmerised by the shops and street stands in the first part of the market, cost to Notting Hill Gate station. Otherwise, for stalls and pubs are available further on, with some nice options.
The German sausages and the hamburgers food stalls are very recommendable. Grab a sweet bite in the doughnuts food stall, two for a fiver.
Particularly the Spanish crowd and the lovers of Spanish foods may find interesting the shop García & Sons, near the end of the market. This shop is one of the very few in London that imports true Spanish products such as Spanish olive oil brands, wine, turrón, polvorones, food coloring for paella, and tomate frito.
C. H.
Eclectic Street market with a wide selection of stores. Keep a look out for buskers, who really add to the character and charm. Personal fave, the Techtonics, who can be found there on Saturday mornings.
V. V.
Nice market and beatiful houses on the way.
D. H.
Its always lively market place where you can find from antics to modern collectable items. It has a diverse wealth of collections from Rock and roll to Jazz outfits of the 60ies, 70ies and the 80ies. It has a lot of restuerants, cafes and the market food outlets.
P. K.
Portobello market on Saturday mornings is a strange combination between a large quantity of worthless rubbish, aimed at the tourists who pack the street, and a large number of dealers who have genuinely interesting material, that they mostly sell to one another, rather than to the public. If you want to avoid the crowds, and have a chance of seeing the good stuff, you have to go before 9.30am.
C. B.
There are many elements to Portobello beautiful clothes up one end. Great bargains I have found fab stuff for a pound from crazy little stalls. Just around the corner is great Moroccan street food for great prices. Sit with locals eaing Moroccan delights. Ottolengi cafe is in the colourful back streets as are some very lovely delightful shops selling very wantable things. Amazing houses in great colours. Loads for anyone that finds their way there. Go down the side streets too.
P. B.
Great to spend a couple of hours of your Friday or Saturday's evening. Expensive antiques, but interesting to watch people going around. Nice street food!
L. M.
Lovely market , full of food and vintage items. But it’s too busy and not as unique as it used to be. Many other markets in London are full of the same things
m. k.
hit 👍like if u find review helpful
1. can be reached via underground station Ladbrook Grove. Easy stroll from there.
2. Mix of street market and shops and street food and restaurant.
3. Grab a coffee and a hotdog as u stroll.

a. s.
Try going on a Saturday where the market is open. Great place to buy cheap hunter boots/ dr. martens/ etc. as you can find old models in the stores near by
J. J. P.
Nice market / Saturday is the best day to go
R. M.
it is just all fun! great place to hang! meet people! or even just walk alone when bored and have nothing in plan. I love the vibes and energies of this market.
M. L.
Overated shopping experience which has lost its authentic feel.
Commercialised and franchised.
N. B.
All the Notting Hill area is just great to see with all of its colors, but Portobello market... if you go there early and watch it come to life it's even better!
H. p.
PORTOBELLO MARKET: it's an awesome adventure of Couture Vintage clothing, food and vegetable stales, Chinese Carribean Indian Takeaway food stalls, Modern handmade clothing accessories for the Fashionista's and interesting furniture or items needed for your home, Music stales, buskers with great talent. The market is split into different areas for each stalls and shops selling a verity of Modern and contemporary Artwork Antiques and collectables and so much more, it's truly worth a trip, happy shopping.
N. S.
Good market at a really good location!
Don't forget to try Amorino Gelato Petal icecream in a come!!
And a store where every thing available at 5 pound from dresses to shoes to purses and wallets and what not!
K. M.
Nice selection of shops.
S. H.
It's Portobello Road Market.
Check out the falafel stall.
b. b.
Great atmosphere and lively buzz. A bit busy and crowded in places. Watch your belongings. Nice selection of food trucks and stalls.
N. F.
Lovely little market with pretty colorful buildings. There's not much to dislike about this place. It's very easy to find cute shops scattered across the street.
M. O.
Great place to get your souvenirs, try street food, and see some antiques. Its almost like a flea market outside. Lovely.
R. D.
Portobello Road market is a must for anyone staying in London a Saturday. The market runs from mid-Portobello Road up to Ladbroke Grove. This market is mainly about antiques, memorabilia and British handicrafts / design. In addition, it also has a farmer's market and discounted clothing stalls. The cafés and small restaurants along Portobello Road and nearby streets provide a resting place to get a drink or bit to eat, while watching the world go by. It is advisable to go early in the morning, as it gets quite crowded towards mid-morning to lunch time. The market starts to wind down and shops/stalls close after lunch time. Take the underground or bus to Notting Hill or Ladbroke Grove.
M. O.
Great place for rummaging around, esp on a Sat - if u get there early enough. Bargains are 2 be had at the far end of this road - away from Notting Hill Gate area.
G. S.
good food, great anthics and clothes. on saturday fully crowded. go there in the morning before 10am. worth to see and buy something for your home collection.
L. P.
Great location; picturesque townscape; interesting market; great food. The only downside on a Saturday is the large crowds which frequent the market, sometimes finding it difficult to move or stop.
J. L. L.
Portobello is not like camden but def. Its more oganised (in the possible context), the diversity of the stores are amazing and you can literally find anything. Ideal for tourist or unique gifts!
P. G.
Great new experience and lots of new and oldies to find like a haunting for a hidden treasure in the heart of Notting Hill you get good food and plenty more There is obviously a walk Bayswater in the Royal Gardens 15 minutes away some are just go to Hyde Park Corner and enjoy the view
C. A. R.
Cheap place to buy many things and mostly vintage things.
You can find cheaper suvenir here rather than in central london.
You can also find place to buy vinyl plate
M. P.
Very nice area to walk in. Can be too crowded at times.
C. G.
Eclectic, alive and exciting; a beautiful street market with awesome food and so many things to enjoy. A gorgeous weekend starts here.
J. S.
What a Fantastic tourist attraction. I would only advise all tourist to deal with prices asked as if you were on a soukh market in Marocco. Asking prices are about 3 times real prices.
F. S.
It was fantastic, but there are so many people! Maybe a few more police would go down well, what with the current political climate. Still though, it was so brilliant atmosphere!
D. B.
This market is a fantastic place, but in recent years, a lot of places have shut down. It is mostly surviving on tourism but is still a decent place if you know where to go.
A. A.
i like tis market for a nuber of reasons, the antiques - yes, the atmosphere - yes, the fresh fruit and veg - yes yes yes.
all of the above is a good reason to visit, and you never dissapointed
G. F.
Great place for gifts
A. R.
I loved this Market!! The town is amazing like the movie of Hugh Grant and Julia ROberts! One of the most beautiful place in London!!
M. H.
Huge market selling all sorts. Good food options too. Lots of parking in the area on the weekend if you get there after 1.30pm
M.
I love this place. Good day out, just mooching. You never know what you may find.Nice atmosphere too. If you a fan of the film Notting Hill your in for a treat!
L. R. F.
Is good to buy clothes.
A. B.
Still a fun place to visit but has far too many charity and souvenir shops which are erroding the area's character. Leases should be made more affordable for independent businesses.
r. m.
Beautiful neighborhood with street market where you can buy some clothes, shoes, jewelries and lot more. Had fun walking around and shopping
G. A.
We visit here every time we visit London, it is vibrant colourful always a fun atmosphere, lots of antique and collectables and eating places we can recommend the Coffee Plant great selection of coffees and teas eat in or takeaway, at the weekend there are also street stalls from one end to the other, selling clothes, antiques collectables, food etc
F. C.
Nice vintage market with worldwide cuisine around.
v. a.
Good first impression, but full of tourists and a bit shallow in places, as a consequence. Scratch beneath the surface and you find some real gems, just maybe not a full tiara.
A. V.
One of the nicest markets for antiques and curios. Probably the best in Britain. Saturday morning till early evening is the best time to go.
D. I.
Amazing place. We order four pizzas and all of them were delicious! The 1 meter long pizza was really impressive as well.
E. G.
Very busy at the weekend but it is a lovely sight. You can find everything from food to antiques and the shops are great to look at.
M. C.
Colorful, busy market. Good for second hand clothes. Lots of tourists. Some good food too if you make through the crowds.
V.
A very picturesque part of London. Lovely atmosphere.
J. K. a. V.
A great place to just walk around and watch people, visit some nice pubs. Just make sure to avoid weekends if you want to do this in a more quiet way because it gets very crowded here.
K. W.
Portobello.. Yeah what can I say. I love the colorful houses, the shops, and the cafes. I love London, I fell in love with years ago. I am a Rockabella and search for new dresses, inspiration. I love the vibe
C. Z.
Nice market! Less then Camden but located in a beautiful area.. I would go just to see the colors of the house! Great!
C. B.
Premiere/Legendary Street Market - best day is a Saturday. Southern part for antiques, mid section food and veg, northern section food and brick a brac (more tatty stuff).
